I was working for a company who started shipping jobs off to Canada.
Even though Canada's wages are higher, it was cheaper for my employer to send jobs there because they didn't have to pay the high health insurance premiums.
According to Time Magazine "5 Truths About Health Care in America - TIME" the cost per capita for health care in Canada is $3,912 vs. $7,026 for the US.
How do you think Canada got their costs that low?
