  • oh my god i bet dick weissman got stuffed in so many lockers in school

  • Does this remind anybody else of A Mighty Wind?

  • Are there any perfomances, either on video or on cd, of The NEW Journeymen featuring Michelle Phillips?

  • @FORTBAXTER

Yes there is. I actually have a cd on my pc (FLAC) with songs from the New Journeymen.

  • Actually, Scott McKenzie took his stage name from John's daughter-his birth name is Phil Blondheim.

Looks like Weissman was an early Ode banjo fan.

  • sejarosergio:

scott mackenzie tenía un voz muy agradable; me gustó mucho.

  • Sounds like John Phillips has some 'splainin' to do about doing his daughter Mackenzie (possibly named after Scott?) for ten years.

  • YES IS THE GRAND SCOTT MACKENZIE YOUR BIG IT WAS SAN FRANCISCO (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)

  • Saw the Journeymen at a pizza joint in Minneapolis in 1962. They recorded a live album there. Great performance.

  • You were forunate to be there, in my book! I'd love to know about their performance(s). What was your impression?

  • @Grisbi6 I lived in Mpls then. OH, for a Wayback machine.

  • Papa John chose drugs instead of life. love his music. RIP

  • How could Anything we have today to come close to that performance ....WOW

  • good harmony....John and Scott could sure sing

  • Actually, myself I rate Dick W as a better singer than poor old John! But indeed, what a group, what talent....

  • The woman in the audience at 1:36 looks like Joan Baez.

  • NOT.

JB had very long hair in 63, and besides she was leading a boycott of this show (Hootenany) because Pete Seeger was banned. PP&M and Dylan refused to appear too.

  • Why was Pete Seeger banned?

  • He was a former Commie.

  • So outstanding to see video of The Journeymen. These guys hands down had the best & most lively harmony of the folk boom of the early 1960's.
