Yay! Once again the CBC rallying for the rights of fanatics and murderers. I cannot believe that so many would feel so bad for a terrorist. When I was 15 I could have told you killing innocent people is evil, if not killing people in general.
When will Canadians wake up and kick out the whole Khadr family. Instead of the pictures of the little puke crying, show the pictures of him holding the severed hands of soldiers. Then tell me he deserves to walk amongst us.
@hugehodge83 I can just about guarantee that if this POS terrorist is ever allowed to walk amongst us...... justice will be served one way or another!
Gitmo is just ridiculous. its fuking stupid how this boy has been in there for EIGHT DAMN YEARS, but na one damn Canadian has tried to get him out. they have NO EVIDANCE against him and have NO RIGHT to keep him in this torture centre. Amerca should go control its people before tryna capture poor muslims. I think they forgot about the KKK group who was in war will all races. KKK= Terrorists. this is just ridiculous.
It is also a matter of public record that the USA demanded of the Taliban Afghan' government that they turn over Bin Laden to their custody and, when the Afghan' government asked for some measure of evidence - a normal requirement in extradition matters between sovereign states - this request was unilaterally refused by the USA.
During its time in power, the Taliban regime, or "Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan," gained diplomatic recognition from only three states: the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia all of whom also provided aid. Most states in the world, including Russia, Iran, India, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, and later the USA, opposed the Taliban
They were in fact never the goverment of Afghanistan , they were always at civil war with there own people, who did not even want them
My point and back on track...there is evidence for catching war criminals and there is lack of evidence to prove anyone guilty of anything....use it...use JUSTICE.....protect the innocent on both sides of a war....
The legitimacy and claim for what is now happening in and against Afghanistan is not only a violation of customary international law but also violates the UN Charter itself as well as several accords which the USA and other countries are party to including the Geneva Conventions and the Principles established at the War Crimes Tribunals at Nuremburg.
In early August 1998 the Taliban's difficulties in relations with foreign groups became much more serious. After attacking the city of Mazar, Taliban forces killed several thousand civilians and 10 Iranian diplomats and intelligence officers in the Iranian consulate. Alleged radio intercepts indicate Mullah Omar personally approved the killing. The Iranian government was incensed and a "full-blown regional crisis" ensued with Iran mobilizing 200,000 regular troops, though war was averted.
The Afghan' government also stated that they were willing to hand over ben Laden to an independent international tribunal to stand trial, but this also was refused by the USA.
Although your statement regarding the UN Security Council resolutions are correct in themselves, they rest for their legitimacy upon an arguably shaky premise: that the USA was in fact attacked by another sovereign nation, namely Afghanistan. In fact, it was not.
The UN operates on the basis of international law, not Islamic Sharia, and the UN did not recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

Osama Bin Laden believes that the restoration of Sharia law will set things right in the Muslim world, and that all other ideologies—"pan-Arabism, socialism, communism, democracy"—must be opposed.
Probably the most infamous part of Bin Laden's ideology is that civilians, including women and children, are legitimate targets of jihad. It sullens the word patriot to use it to describe this coward

It was after this bombing that al-Qaeda was reported to have developed its justification for the killing of innocent people. According to a fatwa issued by Mamdouh Mahmud Salim, the killing of someone standing near the enemy is justified because any innocent bystander will find their proper reward in death, going to Paradise if they were good Muslims and to hell if they were bad or non-believers The fatwa was issued to al-Qaeda members but not the general public..
Without trials at GITMO US foreign Policy mirrors that of terrorists....detaining and sometimes killing innocent people without proof of their guilt....I'm all for getting extremists...but it can be done within rule of law.
and please...cite your sources...give me year and who quoted it...otherwise it holds no weight....sorta like needing evidence for your claims...it's opinion ....and that is pretty useless in youtube as you can see.
Al Jazeera , British Broadcasting Corporation are the sources and as you can see one is a muslim source I guess there lying about this zealot as well as the west .
I feel bad for him. Too bad Harper have no shame for Omar Khadr. That's why I didn't like Harper. I am not saying Omar is a terrorist or something. There is more to that to understand how they feel for others inside of him whether he is innocent or guilty.
The U.S. Government has no evidence to prove that they were justified in their accusations of Omar. Several American troops admitted to throwing grenades that day and lets just say the Americans are pretty well known for their "friendly fire" lmao, and what gives you the right to say it was him and that it was no accident. HOLY SHIT, you Americans.....9/11 goes down, and all of a sudden every muslim is a terrorist. Unintelligent assholes........all of you.
I havent checked back here in a few months, but i see you're still spreading your hatred, like a good terrorist. You have more terrorist qualities than Omar, imo.
Now, multiple Gitmo guards quit their jobs and are willing to testify in favor of Omar. Soldiers at the scene of the crime stated that another insurgent threw the grenade, before they shot him in the head
What evidence do you have to prove that Omar, who was shot twice in the back, threw the nade? NONE!
if you were born in 1962, than i understand your ignorance. Your generation is responsible for the mess we're in today. Most people your age are clueless news watchers
Muslims are peaceful people, and i have several muslim friends, so you can stop hating on all muslims now. We even have muslims in our canadian forces, fighting in afghanistan, you dipshit.
The constitution protects NATURALIZED CANADIAN CITIZENS, regardless of their location or Heritage. You haven't read it, have you?
u r very niave. a small % of muslims in N.A. may be peaceful but try telling that 2 people in U.k. or France or Holland
Omar killed an American what part of murder don't u understand. Just because your cdn doesn't give u a pass to travel around the world & commit acts of terrorism in other countries
You have absolutely no evidence that Omar killed the American.
It's clear you haven't actually studied the case, and you just repeat what you see on TV news.
Omar is still protected under the constitution for being a naturalized born canadian citizen.
YOu haven't read the dam thing have you?
You have no idea what hte principles of this nation are. You would've supported hitler for "defending your freedom" if you were a German citizen in the 30's and 40s.
Under s46 of the Criminal Code, a person commits "high treason" who a) kills, attempts to kill, wounds, imprisons, or restrains the sovereign, b) wages war against Canada or does any act preparatory thereto, or c) assists an enemy at war with Canada or any armed force against whom Canadian forces are engaged in hostilities, even if no state of war exists
people like you actually remind me of the people who used to burn witches at the stake.
All that was needed to declare someone a witch was a testimonial from a male villager.
Obviously, the women weren't witches, but everyone in their society believed they were, because that's what they were told. The women would then be burned at the stake
You have the same mentality about terrorists.
You dont use evidence, you just let someone to tell you how it is, and then start demanding "torture"
Answer this: how does an innocent 14 yr old boy from Toronto wind up in a war zone in Afganastan & by fluke happens to be in an area where somebody just threw a gernade. go read a book
ask your muslims friend why the RCMP by accident arrested 17 muslims who wanted to blow up Toronto & murder govt. ministers
the 14 year old boy from toronto, likely didn't throw the grenade. There are US troops at the scene of the crime willing to testify. They claim there were several friendly grenades that could've killed the soldier, and also, one of the soldier claims to have seen an insurgent throw a grenade before he shot him in the head
There is no proof that Omar killed anyone, whatsoever, and you've failed to provide any. This isn't the medieval ages bro
Even the americans who were there, at the scene of the crime, are willing to testify that omar probably did not throw the grenade.
The soldier who shot the insurgent in the head, after throwing a nade, also claims to have seen omar Curled up in a pool of blood in the back of the room.
This means the American died after omar was shot.
Do you really think, he got up to throw a grenade, with 2 huge bullet holes through his back?
Seriously, i'm sure you're a smart person in some respects but this much is obvious
1. You haven't read into the Omar Khadr case, at all
2. You don't understand the history, or intention of our constitution and Charter
3. You blame Muslims 100% for terrorism & you probably have never even heard of the CIA term "Blowback", even though it is 100% proven to be the reason why terrorism is growing at such a rapid rate, lately.
witchs don't proclaim "death to America" and blow up people. How & why does an innocent 14 yr old from toronto wind up in a war zone. I like freedom & I know how to behave myself so I don't destroy the society I live in. omars parents must be proud
you haven't paid attention to a word I've said, and it's extremely obvious that you don't understand the history of Canada, our Constitution, or our Charter.
Your ignorance is extremely deep, and you have no concept of what 'freedom' actually is.
I don't know exactly why Omar was there, but i'm 99% certain he didnt' kill the American, based on the evidence given.
He deserves a fair trial, guilty or not.
He's a naturalized citizen, and your forfeiting my childrens rights by forfeiting his.
Yes i did, i said i don't know for sure, and neither do you.
What i've been arguing is the principles of our constitution, and you seem to not understand what a "naturalized citizen" is. And you also have no concept of the rights that come with it. You haven't read history,a nd that is obvious.
You only pay attention to neo-conservative media. You dont have a mind of your own.
Seriously dude, you have no argument here. You have no evidence that Omar committed murder or an act of terror.
And just so you know, Omar didn't fly a plane into a building either. Witches, we're accused of witchcraft, which they obviously didn't commit. The situation is very similar to how you view Omar. You're willing to convict him to torture, based on absolutely no evidence
You have the logical reasoning of a Nazi, and i'm not kidding
You obviously don't make up your mind for yourself, and you follow party lines
This has been an easy debate. You haven't even read the case, or the constitution
Also, he was there because of his Dad forcing him to.
Do you really think a 14 year old boy is old enough to figure this shit out for himself? We have 19 year olds fighting in Afghanistan right now, who have absolutely no idea why there there.
What about the 1.5 million dead innocent iraqi's killed by Americans.
Why don't you care about holding the Americans accountable for their war crimes?
Probably because you're a dumbass Christian who approves of anything that hurts Brown skinned people
Here's a suggestion. Go read the constitution, and the charter of rights and freedoms.
Then perhaps read some american history as well. Neither the founders of our country, or the founders of America would support what's happening to Omar right now.
You have no understanding of history, rule of law, terrorism, Muslims, or Canada.
You are just a drone who tunes into neo-conservative news shows, and think you understand terrorism, because they make you fear brown men with beards
It's obvious that you haven't read the constitution, or the bill of right,s otherwise you wouldn't say such moronic things
Muslim does not = Terrorist, and that's pure brainwashing to believe that nonsense
You have a lot of reading to do, if you want to stay on the same intellectual level as me, in this conversation
I understand Canadian constitutional law, rather thoroughly, and ignorant people like yourself really make my blood boil, when you advocate torture and violence with no knowledge!
Feeling sorry for him whether he is innocent or guilty is not the point really. The point is that all humans has rights under the UN Charter of human rights and this kangaroo court cannot possibly be about justice. The pentagon system has deemed him guilty and are actively carring ou thier sentence of horror at this very moment. If 1 person FORFIET thier right to humANITY, them LOSE WE ALL. The supreme court has ruled Canada complicit in torture. War crime cover-up? SOLDIERS EXECUTING WOUNDED?
I feel so much sympathy for Omar, he's just a kid and look at what he's been through, I can't believe how they treat prisoners in Guantanamo! The Americans and Canadians who participate in torturing the detainees are the real criminals.
I think he should just be given a chance to start again. I see the "peaceful person" Omar says that he is.
For God's sake let him live the way he wants: "as normal as any normal unknown Canadian."
There must be an INVESTIGATION to determine if the Khadr "arrest, torture and trial" is really a coverup steming from the single special forces soldier who witnessed and perhaps heroically interviened in the execution of wounded "combatants/soldiers/prisoners" on the field. Was Khadr the last wounded human standing and hence fodder for torture and interigation? Was sparing of Kahdrs life means to stop the special forces soldier from blowing the whistle on a war crime of killing the wounded ?!
Thank yo CBC in bringing the facts of US soldiers involved in toturing 15 year old detained illegally at Guantanamo. He is innocent and should be set free immediately as he is not involved in any killings of US Soldier as said in the statement of a US Marine on the scene.
Absolutely. Kept in jail and tortured all this time. He seemed a very bright boy having fluency in three languages. Let's face it. Americans are a very cruel people.
And Harper id a horrid man to let this sham continue year after year. We all knew there was horrible torture going on at Gitmo. So did he. He is an unfit leader.
Can we as people organize in some way? It's goign to take more than protest i think, but there must be a way to hit these political assholes where it hurts.
We need to get our human rights back before more canadians are subject to torture!
one thing we should try to do is raise awareness about omar, and other such cases. to be honest, i didnt really know much about omar, then there was a rally in the city earlier this month which is how i got to kno more about. every canadian who knows about this should be angry with the gov't, no matter what party they follow!
its going to have to be we the people if this is how our government is going to handle it. (or lack of handling it!)
Yea, we need to orgainze a fierce movement in Canada.
The Ron Paul movement popped up out of nowhere in the states, and is constantly growing to this day. I really think that message of "Liberty" and Individual Rights could resonate very well in Canada too, and already has in a lot of ways
I'm still a Conservative, but i'm not happy with my party at all, but at least they aren't big spending socialists... yet. It's too bad they have no spine when it comes Foreign Policy and Individual Rights
Thank you CBC. I hope everyone (Canadian and American)that tortured Omar Khadr, that hid evidence of Omar's innocence or torture, and/or that was implicit in Omar's torture is prosecuted to the fullest extent of Canadian, US, and international laws against war crimes!

Omar Khadr has no shame for Omar Khadr. What he did is no accident. He murdered somebody. his plan was to murder many more people. He got caught
He is a terrorist. Fuck him, Fuck CBC Fuck u

Unintelligent assholes........all of you.
canascot 2 years ago
I havent checked back here in a few months, but i see you're still spreading your hatred, like a good terrorist. You have more terrorist qualities than Omar, imo.
Now, multiple Gitmo guards quit their jobs and are willing to testify in favor of Omar. Soldiers at the scene of the crime stated that another insurgent threw the grenade, before they shot him in the head
What evidence do you have to prove that Omar, who was shot twice in the back, threw the nade? NONE!
Claytrainor 2 years ago
You are an ugly person, on the inside.
I hope you wake up and change yourself.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
It's obvious that you haven't read, or understand history
Also, understand that Omar was a naturally born Canadian citizen. This means he's protected under our constitution.
He is being detained and tortured, based on no evidence. A CANADIAN CITIZEN, is being detained without evidence.
This should make you demand justice, but instead you demand to lose your own rights, by taking away omar's

A Canadian citizen is protected under our constitution in CANADA!
IF HE WOULD BE in school behaving himself he would be fine
Afganastan is a great place 4 muslims

if you were born in 1962, than i understand your ignorance.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
u r very niave. a small % of muslims in N.A. may be peaceful but try telling that 2 people in U.k. or France or Holland
Omar killed an American what part of murder don't u understand. Just because your cdn doesn't give u a pass to travel around the world & commit acts of terrorism in other countries
howie1962 2 years ago
You have absolutely no evidence that Omar killed the American.
It's clear you haven't actually studied the case, and you just repeat what you see on TV news.
Omar is still protected under the constitution for being a naturalized born canadian citizen.
YOu haven't read the dam thing have you?
You have no idea what hte principles of this nation are. You would've supported hitler for "defending your freedom" if you were a German citizen in the 30's and 40s.
You are a hateful follower.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
seriously provide me with the evidence that omar killed the American and get back to me.
there isn't any, and many people, including american soldiers, who were there at the time, will deny what you're saying.
American soldiers and Gitmo guards are willing to testify FOR Omar, but dipshits like you keep supporting war-mongerers, and asking for more torture.
People like you have forced Canada to give up it's moral high ground.
We have sunk to the level of terrorists, thanks to you and harper
Claytrainor 2 years ago
It's funny how these old dipshits, who obviously don't read books and just watch the news on tv, like to call me ignorant after
1. I have read the constitution and charter multiple times
2. I have studied the Omar case extensively
3. I have studied the war on terror, from multiple perspectives, including CIA research documents.
4. I have several muslim friends, and they tend to be more peaceful than any christian i know!
Study up, and stop basing your argument on propaganda and hate..

Because of people like you, my country will no longer be free, by the time my children grow up
You are sacrificing my and my childrens rights under the constitution because your scared of a 15 year old boy
I'm not saying he's 100% innocent, i'm saying HE NEEDS A FAIR TRIAL, since he's a naturalized citizen UNDER OUR CONSTITUTION
If he's proven guilty of murder and terrorism, FINE, i have no problems locking him up then. You can't just throw away habeas Corpus bro
Study up, you lack knowledge

your country is free, enjoy it & thank Harper 4 keeping it free
howie1962 2 years ago
Thank harper all you want.
If you were in America during 1776, you probably would've turned your guns over to the british for "protection".
Harper isn't a conservative, and neither are you.
Harper is a liberal / socialist / Neo-conservative, and i am a strict fiscal conservative, by definition of the word.
You are nothing but a drone who follows whatever the TV tells him to.
I have a feeling that you're Christian. For some reason, christians love war and torture more than the muslims :-(
Claytrainor 2 years ago
people like you actually remind me of the people who used to burn witches at the stake.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
congrats genius on knowing everything.
Answer this: how does an innocent 14 yr old boy from Toronto wind up in a war zone in Afganastan & by fluke happens to be in an area where somebody just threw a gernade. go read a book
ask your muslims friend why the RCMP by accident arrested 17 muslims who wanted to blow up Toronto & murder govt. ministers
howie1962 2 years ago
You haven't read the case, that much is obvious
the 14 year old boy from toronto, likely didn't throw the grenade.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
There's a documentary you should watch on those 17 terrorists
CSIS clearly helped them, and even provided them with an Agent. I can't remember what the docu was called, but i will send it to you, when i find it
And even if they were legitimate terrorists, Omar doesn't deserve to be tortured because of their crimes. Should we just line up every single Muslim?
You know, the columbine boys came from Christian families, maybe we should throw all Christians in a torture cell too. turn off the tv
Claytrainor 2 years ago
Even the americans who were there, at the scene of the crime, are willing to testify that omar probably did not throw the grenade.
The soldier who shot the insurgent in the head, after throwing a nade, also claims to have seen omar Curled up in a pool of blood in the back of the room.
This means the American died after omar was shot.
Do you really think, he got up to throw a grenade, with 2 huge bullet holes through his back?
Obviously not.
You still want him tortured though, nazi.

Knowing everything?
Better than knowing nothing i guess ;-)
Seriously, i'm sure you're a smart person in some respects but this much is obvious
1. You haven't read into the Omar Khadr case, at all
2. You don't understand the history, or intention of our constitution and Charter
3. You blame Muslims 100% for terrorism & you probably have never even heard of the CIA term "Blowback", even though it is 100% proven to be the reason why terrorism is growing at such a rapid rate, lately.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
witchs don't fly planes into buildings
witchs don't proclaim "death to America" and blow up people. How & why does an innocent 14 yr old from toronto wind up in a war zone. I like freedom & I know how to behave myself so I don't destroy the society I live in. omars parents must be proud
howie1962 2 years ago
you haven't paid attention to a word I've said, and it's extremely obvious that you don't understand the history of Canada, our Constitution, or our Charter.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
you don't answer the question why was a
14 yr old cdn boy in a war zone in afganastan. Omars associates flew a plane into a building & his father was an Al qauda member
You want to protect your childrens freedom don't teach them to be terrorists
& don't send them to a war zone outside of Canada
howie1962 2 years ago
Yes i did, i said i don't know for sure, and neither do you.
What i've been arguing is the principles of our constitution, and you seem to not understand what a "naturalized citizen" is. And you also have no concept of the rights that come with it. You haven't read history,a nd that is obvious.
You only pay attention to neo-conservative media. You dont have a mind of your own.
Seriously dude, you have no argument here. You have no evidence that Omar committed murder or an act of terror.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
Oh and to answer your question
"you don't answer the question why was a
14 yr old cdn boy in a war zone in afganastan."
Let the fucking courts decide, not a torture prison, you fucking fascist.
I have more respect for Omar's parents than i do for you, because at least they admit they don't support the canadian constitution.
You live in your little delusion, and support whatever comes out of Mr. Harpers mouth i'm sure.
I'm a real conservative, your a phony one who follows what he sees on tv
Claytrainor 2 years ago
the courts r busy with people who break the law in canada. we don't need to import problems. omar is a willing participant in his own misfortune
howie1962 2 years ago
your lack of knowledge is incredibly noticeable.
The words naturalized citizen mean nothing to you, because you haven't studied history.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
And just so you know, Omar didn't fly a plane into a building either. Witches, we're accused of witchcraft, which they obviously didn't commit. The situation is very similar to how you view Omar. You're willing to convict him to torture, based on absolutely no evidence
You have the logical reasoning of a Nazi, and i'm not kidding
You obviously don't make up your mind for yourself, and you follow party lines
This has been an easy debate. You haven't even read the case, or the constitution
Claytrainor 2 years ago
Admit it, you just hate muslims.. and you'd love to see them all thrown in a torture prison.
My buddy who is fighting in afghanistan right now, who happens to be muslim, would knock you out, if he ever met you.
Claytrainor 2 years ago
Also, he was there because of his Dad forcing him to.
Do you really think a 14 year old boy is old enough to figure this shit out for himself? We have 19 year olds fighting in Afghanistan right now, who have absolutely no idea why there there.
What about the 1.5 million dead innocent iraqi's killed by Americans.
Why don't you care about holding the Americans accountable for their war crimes?
Probably because you're a dumbass Christian who approves of anything that hurts Brown skinned people
Claytrainor 2 years ago
Here's a suggestion. Go read the constitution, and the charter of rights and freedoms.
Then perhaps read some american history as well. Neither the founders of our country, or the founders of America would support what's happening to Omar right now.
You have no understanding of history, rule of law, terrorism, Muslims, or Canada.
You are just a drone who tunes into neo-conservative news shows, and think you understand terrorism, because they make you fear brown men with beards
Claytrainor 2 years ago
It's obvious that you haven't read the constitution, or the bill of right,s otherwise you wouldn't say such moronic things
Muslim does not = Terrorist, and that's pure brainwashing to believe that nonsense
You have a lot of reading to do, if you want to stay on the same intellectual level as me, in this conversation
I understand Canadian constitutional law, rather thoroughly, and ignorant people like yourself really make my blood boil, when you advocate torture and violence with no knowledge!

It literally is brainwashing. Guys like Howie probably won't wake up but, the people who listen to our conversations will.
His lacks logic and contains hints of racism and ignorance.

SOLDIERS EXECUTING WOUNDED?
murraykat 3 years ago 12
I feel so much sympathy for Omar, he's just a kid and look at what he's been through, I can't believe how they treat prisoners in Guantanamo! The Americans and Canadians who participate in torturing the detainees are the real criminals.
I think he should just be given a chance to start again. I see the "peaceful person" Omar says that he is.
For God's sake let him live the way he wants: "as normal as any normal unknown Canadian."
hotlovetrigger 3 years ago 4
There must be an INVESTIGATION to determine if the Khadr "arrest, torture and trial" is really a coverup steming from the single special forces soldier who witnessed and perhaps heroically interviened in the execution of wounded "combatants/soldiers/prisoners" on the field. Was Khadr the last wounded human standing and hence fodder for torture and interigation? Was sparing of Kahdrs life means to stop the special forces soldier from blowing the whistle on a war crime of killing the wounded ?!
murraykat 3 years ago 2
Investigations must continue. America is resisting fair trials while torturing detainees like no other criminals ever had been in recent days.

one thing we should try to do is raise awareness about omar, and other such cases. to be honest, i didnt really know much about omar, then there was a rally in the city earlier this month which is how i got to kno more about. every canadian who knows about this should be angry with the gov't, no matter what party they follow!

The Ron Paul movement popped up out of nowhere in the states, and is constantly growing to this day. I really think that message of "Liberty" and Individual Rights could resonate very well in Canada too, and already has in a lot of ways
