  • I remember when this was first released, right at a very bitter sweet moment in my life. I will always remember what might have been when I hear this song

  • To me this wonderful song is sad and beautiful beer joint music. Every music box in every bar I went to with my pops had this song on it,. I remember the patrons giving me dimes to play a song on the juke box and i would usually pick this one. I wasn't reading yet but I recognized the "shape" of the words. I was about five years old and could barely read the "menu as I wasn't tall enough. "Wow... love this song and miss my pops.

  • NOBODY SINGS IT BETTER

  • It's great to see this wonderful performance.

  • The definition of SMOOTH!

  • @nightrover2112..........To take you back to the music would be grand .Life for me then was pretty hard .Those petticoat's ,if you rember ,were a real pain.

  • I just got the new Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears CD Scandolous, and they do a kick ass version of this. Ivory Joe is the classic but this new version is done with great respect and "homage"

  • I love it

    Sounds great

  • Good music that brings a tear to the eye and reminds us of (good) times when things were right. Even if I was not born yet.

  • Watch the movie "Mischief", never made it big, but it's good and the sound track is outstanding!!

  • This is another great oldie but a goodie. Im only 36 but it takes me back to my childhood listening to this with my mom and grandparents

  • One of my favorite

  • Brilliant - Ivory Joe was so talented and all his songs are super!

  • i was watching a movie one late evening when this song came on...i almost fell off the couch!!!! something "click" and i remembered the early days of my youth....it is like time stood still and i was back during that time....i have to locate this song and i finally did after a long search........

  • How did you find this? This si great

  • Beautiful song !

  • What a great tune and what a timeless message. The person who voted thumbs down on this must have experienced a mouse fart. The only problem with this song is that it is too short.

  • I love this song! There was also a version by a woman, about the same time, but I can't find it, and cannot remember her name. All I remember, was that it was very slow.

  • @HGBJR1955 That was probably Mindy Carson, who had a hit with this song in 1857...

  • @1952Bebe Sorry 1957, not 1857 LOL

  • @1952Bebe Thanks for the info, I found Mindy Carson, and some of her songs, but

no "SINCE I MET YOU BABY" . Was '52 your graduation year?

  • @1952Bebe - 1857? Wow - that old, huh? They have records then?

  • What a treat! A historic live recording. Most interesting. He looks like local Chicago news anchor Josea Sanders.

  • Thank you for this- just the best of this beautiful song

  • Thank you soooo much!

  • Rear Indeed! This is a Classic!

  • This was my mom and stepdad's first dance, then my sister and brother-in-law's and next september it will be the song I dance to with my hubbie at OUR wedding!

  • The original...the best. Thank you, Ivory Joe for bringing us such great music. Shame on America for not allowing many of his songs to air in certain parts of the country. I hate "covers."

  • What a treat to watch him live. Thanks for posting this gem.

  • Wow, this is the original... I have always heard the covers. Thanks!

  • Thank You so so much for putting this up. Wow what a song!

It is really beautiful! thank you Ivory Joe for singing this lovely

    gift for us!

  • ivory joe hunter ---- since i met you baby i almost lost my mind if i give you my love==== great talent

  • Wow what a vid thanks for sharing it.

  • one of the best ever

  • Just a fabulous video. Just a great song.

  • I am of the opinion that the fifties could have given us just three songs: "Sea Cruise", "This Little Girl's Gone Rockin'" and this and it still would have been a great decade! Now you know what made Pat Boone the star he was! Thanks for sharing this!

  • I was 8 years old when this was released and I still love it...

  • This is my husband's favorite song, we went together in high school and then got married 1 year ago. We are 75! Maybe it should be Since I REMET You Baby!

  • @luannheacock1 What took you so long? (J/k, anc congratulations)

  • @luannheacock1 nothing like waiting to be sure

  • @luannheacock1 I'm 71 and this song touches my heart. Brings back good memories.

  • When my twin daughters were born 12 years ago, I use to sing this to them when they were in their cribs. I love this song.

  • Such a lovely song!!! Many many thanks for posting this. Without you tube I possibly would have never have heard this song. I am really greatful for people who share their treasures with us. My love to you.

  • classic. this was the first waltz at our wedding

  • Thank you for posting this. Loved it since I heard it on a film soundtrack twenty years or so ago. He wrote hundred and hundreds of songs, and I have a few of them but I wouldn't have thought he ever achieved this miraculous simplicity too many times. Not many have.

  • Reminds me of growing up in Philly in the 50s. Excellent music!

  • Great song I love this Song----Elvis no sing this Theme but this is... Elvis style..

    Or no? Thank's..

  • Elvis recorded this song and so have others, but to me, this is the finest example.

  • Yep-this IS the best & finest. I've loved this song since I first heard it in the late 70's as a kid. I made a tape of the song for a special lady in my life in the mid 90's, & she loved it. We parted eventually, but I still love this song! Ivory Joe knew how to lay it down!

  • He wrote "My wish came true", that was recorded by Elvis, and he also wrote "Just out of reach of my two empty arms".

  • also I Need You So......in 1957 he invited Ivory Joe out to Graceland and told him "I vory Joe, I sure do like your songs, you ain't got any more of 'em for me, do you?" and Ivory Joe told him about "My Wish Came True"

  • I well remember this great song and Ivory Joe Hunter. I had just gotten into the army in late 1956. This song was on most juke boxes and I played it many times. It really made me think of a girl back home.

  • Wish they still wrote great songs like this today.

  • I was married to this song in 2002 - one of my favorites of all time. So wonderful to see a live version :)

  • He was great. He also wrote I Almost Lost My Mind.

  • Beautiful !

  • Beautiful!

  • Great

  • Can someone tell me when was this song first released to stores?

    Around 1956, maybe?

  • You guessed right. It hit the Billboard charts in 1956.

  • Thanks a bunch for the reply, friend.

  • As a child I loved this song. I still do.

  • thats my great uncle :)

  • What a wonderful man. I was told he even did the Grand Ole Opry. If that's true, it tells us that even back then, Mr. Hunter had that appeal and people loved him.

  • i should be happy to be related to him then lol. ppl seem sweet.=D

  • lol he seems sweeted i meant

  • I love the name, it just rolls of the tongue; Ivory Joe Hunter. This song and "A Tear Fell" are two of my favorite songs of all time. The line from "A Tear Fell" is one off the most memoriable: "The teardrops that you steppped on as you danced across the floor were crushed like my poor heart was when you walked out of my door". Perfect sentiment for a teenage boy who just got dumped, I remember it well!

  • Joe use to play the Grand Ol Opry in the late 50's and early 60's. Great music is medicine for the soul.

  • now THAT is music....

  • One of the first songs I loved as a kid, about fifth grade. I remember those notes tinkling so slowly out of the radio. It seemed so solemn, somehow. Thanks for posting.

  • This is a true work of art !

  • What a rare clip. Thanks for posting.
