@KalashnikovM1947, quite wrong misconception. The russians were far better equipped and dressed with special winter clothing when the germans were still in their summer uniforms in the middle of winter. The soviets also had far superior tanks - the T-34 that basically won them the war. They were also supplied far better all the time and received immediate medical care, unlike the germans. The "soldier with rugged clothes and a simple rifle" image is mostly a soviet propaganda.
