@TorinoCobra could you please provide a link to download this song in lossless or 320kbps mp3? because I've searched for hours on end and I can't find it
Frenetic....Roky, being from The Great State of Texas and all, kinda brings a new tenor to the line "I feel just like Jesus' son" which I, Mah Own Damned Self, had always construed to be in the possessive form, yet Roky brings the Texas Dimension/Dementia..."I feel just like Jesus, son"....
I actually think this is a fucking awesome version of Heroin... I love Heroin by Lou (best version is on the live album Rock N Roll Animal, personally speaking), but this version has fuckin' BALLS man! This version is like the rush of the hit, whilst Lou's is the nodding off... =O) The drug ain't bad either! XOD
" I like Lou Reed. I'm the only one who can hold him in my hand , y'know" - KSAN April Fools Day '79. The only other , released , version by Roky that I know was the extremely lo - fi version with Evil Hook Wildlife E.T. This is with The Explosives. Roky just hit 'em with "Boys , we're gonna do "Heroin" tonight !" "WHAAA??!!" "I THINK IT'S IN "E".". They'd never played it , prior to that.
This version makes no improvements on the original...the whole mood of the song is lost...it no longer conveys the topic as lou reed does so expertly. Yeah, it rocks out a not but I'm totally unimpressed
@0katiekate0 Maybe he's got a different take on heroin, hence diff approach. His version sounds like the freedom of a heroin high wheras Lou was more on thre reality of the WHOLE 'experience'
What a version! This is so amped out and relentless. All shouty and in your face. Not at all like the dark, languorous Velvet's original. But it really works.

I heard Roky once said Lou Reed was his only real competitor.

Why do you guys keep saying Lou? I mean sure he did sing it, but he was still with velvet at the time, so please give some credit. Sheesh.
