@alanheath Well...It's a matter of taste but Krakow is original and Gdańsk was rebuilded from zero so it's about 50 years old:) Krakow is Unesco world haritage site and Gdańsk is not.Krakow is one of the best example of gothic plan and renaissance,gothic and romanesque style in Europe.Gdańsk is beautiful but not that valuable in case of historic architectural value.I prefer Kraków architecture and atmosphere but Gdańsk is my number 2.They are different cathegories and shouldn't be compared.

I've been to over 15 countries, beautiful known cities like Paris, Rome, Munchen... and I must say Kraków is the one that amazed me the most, with its cozy and romantic atmosphere and so many nice and polite people. I think if anyone says bad things about Poland they are either ignorant, with primitive thoughts about eastern europe, or just have a hole to fill in themselves, by offending people.

@2912770 Every Jewish person should visit Cracow and see the Jewish district Kazimierz, Ghetto, Synagogues, Schindler's Factory. Cracow has a big jewish festival every year, Jewish cultural centre etc.
@2912770 it IS safe. No one hates Jews in Poland. There are the occasional obvious skinheads but such is the norm in many countries. You will not run into any trouble in Kazimierz or the rest of the old town. Glad to see a Jew who wants to see something other than a death camp.

@2912770 :) i know trips from israel are being held with presence of a guard and it is standard but it is a bit suprise for us. One teacher from polish school which every year hosts israelian youths for exchanges said about one guy who thought poland is strongly antysemitic and wanted to give a speech to polish pupils what he thinks about it,after he came and spent time during the exchange he tore his speech:) this document about it is somewhere here on youtube.

There is very little anti Semitism in Poland other than these anti Polish elements.

I have been to both cities and I think Prag is a very beautiful city as well,but if I compare Kraków with any other city in Europe I always come to the same conclusion,that it is Kraków that I see as the most beautiful city of Europe (at least of those cities that I have visited) ...it is a jewel and I am looking forward to return.......

im from canada and went to visit family two years ago and can defiantly say that krakow was my absolute favourite place it is gorgous especially at sunset and there so many ppeople out during tthe day and night. Also walking around the lake is lovely too.

I was in Krakow 3 week ago and i am going back again on Tuesday. It's a lovely town with some of the best bars i have been in, a lot of them are cellar bars with lots of character.

More historic churches than any other city in the world, save Rome. The altar of Wit Stwosz is the largest work of art of the middle ages. Krakow's Old Market square is the largest of medieval Europe. The Sukiennice is consiredered by some historians to be the world's first enclosed structure permanently dedicated to commerce and thus one of the world's most valuable architectural objects. A thousand years of Polish rulers are entombed in Wawel cathedral - an amazing place. I'm out of space.
When you are in Kraków try to visit the main square, sit in a table outside one of the cafes and while sipping some vine relax and you'll feel the taste of your life - really :). It's a good idea to do the same in one of the Kazimierz district if you like don't like crowds. Magical city :))
Krokow is my most favorite city in the world. I miss it so much since leaving Poland. Iam thinking of coming back. I lived an hour away but took the train there whenever I could. I remeber Juwenalia
(student festival), Jewish Festivals, Piwnica Pod Baranami, Wierzynek restaurant
(probably oldest in Europe), hejnal played from St. Mary's Church, Planty and the ncredible architecture, outdoor cafes and museums, Jan Matejko, Stanislaw Wyspianski, old Kazimierz and Ariel. Krakow, I will be back!

I have been to both cities and I think Prag is a very beautiful city as well,but if I compare Kraków with any other city in Europe I always come to the same conclusion,that it is Kraków that I see as the most beautiful city of Europe (at least of those cities that I have visited) ...it is a jewel and I am looking forward to return.......

I was in Krakow last month and still i cant take it out of my head.i felt in love immediately as soon as we arrived at the main square.its so beautiful and the people over there are so friendly and helpful.too bad i dont speak polish or otherwise i would have stayed there for the rest of my life.if you are reading this message and you did'nt visited Krakow yet.i suggest you to plan your next holiday over there,believe me you won't regret it for 1 second.bye bye and enjoy beautiful Krakow..:))

im from canada and went to visit family two years ago and can defiantly say that krakow was my absolute favourite place it is gorgous especially at sunset and there so many ppeople out during tthe day and night. Also walking around the lake is lovely too.
Seriously if you decide to go anywhere in poland go there.

I was in Krakow 3 week ago and i am going back again on Tuesday. It's a lovely town with some of the best bars i have been in, a lot of them are cellar bars with lots of character.

I'm just back from Krakow and I absolutely fell in love with the city. I hope to maybe live there some day or spend a few months living there or a year, so i'm attempting to learn Polish at the minute.

Dla mnie najładniejszymi polskimi miastami są Lwów i Kraków.Szkoda ,że Lwów już nie w Polsce.

Krakow's Old Market square is the largest of medieval Europe. The Sukiennice is consiredered by some historians to be the world's first enclosed structure permanently dedicated to commerce and thus one of the world's most valuable architectural objects. A thousand years of Polish rulers are entombed in Wawel cathedral - an amazing place. I'm out of space.

When you are in Kraków try to visit the main square, sit in a table outside one of the cafes and while sipping some vine relax and you'll feel the taste of your life - really :). It's a good idea to do the same in one of the Kazimierz district if you like don't like crowds. Magical city :))

Krokow is my most favorite city in the world. I miss it so much since leaving Poland. Iam thinking of coming back. I lived an hour away but took the train there whenever I could. I remeber Juwenalia
(student festival), Jewish Festivals, Piwnica Pod Baranami, Wierzynek restaurant
(probably oldest in Europe), hejnal played from St. Mary's Church, Planty and the ncredible architecture, outdoor cafes and museums, Jan Matejko, Stanislaw Wyspianski, old Kazimierz and Ariel. Krakow, I will be back!
