Shepherds are just as great but my Rottie is 10 months old and will do over a dozen tricks. I can also call him when he's in mid flight toward another dog and he will stop dead, turn around and come back. In my experience it's people like you who will have out of control dogs, regardless of the breed.
All dogs can be taught tricks, but no dog beats the versatility of a good purebred german shepherd, simply being one of the reasons the police and military prefer them over other dogs for the jobs they do.

My grandmother back in India had a german shepherd named tony. when my grandmother passed away, he just kinda sensed it and he didnt eat from any one else in the family. My grandmother fed him since he was a pup. You could actually hear him cry and whine. He ended up starving himself to death. I don't what people say german shepherds do, but to me, they are the worlds most loyal and trust worthy dogs. I have great respect for them.
Whatever they do, they do it out of protection for they owner. I remember all my grandma had to do was clap and tony would just go crazy and attack any one near her. Amazing guard dogs
G Shepards have always been my favorite dogs. But I also love Rotts. I think Rotts can be just as faithful. I had to "babysit" a full grown monster male Rott for 2 weeks. And we had so much fun! Very loyal,smart,protective.. I love both breeds and believe they are the best(along with a few others) I look forward to owning both of them one day.
I thinks It the dog who Is taking YOU out for a walk mate. If that Rott really wants to go attack you ain't gonna be strong enough to hold It back, then again If you were In control you could get your dog to do a sit, stay and It should listen to your command. With my observation that seems unlikely that you could get your dog to do what you say. With such a powerful dog as with all dogs you must have complete control at all times when out.Nice dog though.
Mamids, In the animal kingdom Its all about hierarchy ie 'a pecking order' for a pack. The Alpha dog eats first ie YOU, correct when needed ALL lower than the Alpha. Your dog behaving like It does Is showing signs that It Is control of the situation ie being the boss/ Alpha, over you the alleged 'master' of the dog. My grandmother back in India had a german shepherd named tony. when my grandmother passed away, he just kinda sensed it and he didnt eat from any one else in the family. My grandmother fed him since he was a pup. You could actually hear him cry and whine. He ended up starving himself to death. I don't what people say german shepherds do, but to me, they are the worlds most loyal and trust worthy dogs. I have great respect for them.

G Shepards have always been my favorite dogs. But I also love Rotts. I think Rotts can be just as faithful. I had to "babysit" a full grown monster male Rott for 2 weeks. And we had so much fun! Very loyal,smart,protective.. I love both breeds and believe they are the best(along with a few others) I look forward to owning both of them one day.

If that Rott really wants to go attack you ain't gonna be strong enough to hold It back, then again If you were In control you could get your dog to do a sit, stay and It should listen to your command. With my observation that seems unlikely that you could get your dog to do what you say. With such a powerful dog as with all dogs you must have complete control at all times when out.Nice dog though.

Your dog behaving like It does Is showing signs that It Is control of the situation ie being the boss/ Alpha, over you the alleged 'master' of the dog.
