All one has to do is look at some of the TV shows of the 80s to prove it. Without hosiery, that range is very narrow, as zendaddy621 has pointed out, and most would be better off wearing pants instead of going bare.

I am in my 40s and in great shape and yet I would feel ridiculous in most short skirts, especially since they often are styles specifically designed for teenage girls. I never want to look like I am a teeny bopper. But, then again, I can wear more sophisticated, sexy looks that teenagers cannot pull off. It's all good. Dress in what makes you feel good. It's a personal decision.

@Renbirde Yes she did say that. :23 on. And shes clearly wrong. Many 17 yo's have no business wearing mini skirts given the obesity epidemic of their generation. They in fact have less reason to wear it than the many fit 40 yo's who are not suffering such an issue with weight.

I just turned 28 and even though I can still wear mini skirts, I wouldn't wear a micro mini unless I had leggings underneath it.
The thought of embarassing myself by inadvertedly showing off my knickers if I bent over to pick something up would haunt me.
But it's true. If you got a body, flaunt it, regardless of your age.

Crap. I've always had long slim legs that look great in short skirts. I don't even wear them much ( I prefer pants) but when I do I get compliments from men and women. And I'm 38. Go watch some sex and the city girl and get with the times - women wear whatever looks good on them at any age now. The advice in this video is too medieval.

I am in my 40s and in great shape and yet I would feel ridiculous in most short skirts, especially since they often are styles specifically designed for teenage girls. I never want to look like I am a teeny bopper. But, then again, I can wear more sophisticated, sexy looks that teenagers cannot pull off. It's all good. Dress in what makes you feel good. It's a personal decision.

@richassuzy omg relax woman,--shes's not saying women over 40 aren't allowed to show any skin, or condoning overweight teenagers to show the world their thighs. Age and weight are just two factors in deciding what skirt looks best on you. And anyone over 35 should be done with the "overexuberant-look at me- i'm sexy take me now-i'll wear uncomfortable things because they're cute" phase. Hopefully by 40 you've developed some class and self confidence so you don't feel the need to dress half naked

It doesn't matter whether she has a slim body or not. If you dress your age, it doesn't mean that you are "old" and ugly.
