  • my goodness. just amazing! :)

  • The best thing about this video has got to be Oxely's hair.

  • Oh look, it's Commander Will Riker on the left!

So that's where he went after the Enterprise crashed!

  • Man Jeff is really rocking that mullet...

  • @BarbershopHero hahaha the Mullet is rocking Jeff, I feel. hahaha

  • did you hear that trill from JEFF!!!!!

  • I've heard that Nat King Cole Arrangement before. Does anyone know the arranger or who else sings it because its fucking awesome.

  • Diana Krall has a version of the old Nat King Cole song "Steraighten Up And Fly Right"

  • this is just incredible. acoustix, man, they were the stuff!!

  • This is so 90s.... Mullet.

  • 0:19-:0:30 Sick!!! :D awesome!

  • damn, Bari post was sick!

  • How can you not like that? I am literally throwing up at your lame ass post.

  • Is this the Walter Latzko arrangement?

  • I love the Acoustix. Does anyone have the rest of the clip for the second song on this set? It's a Nat King Cole song, "Straighten Up and Fly Right."

  • OMG check out one of the cleanest, sickest fives ever. right between 1:55-1:56 seconds on the word "what". Rick and Jeff are gods!

  • Fives? Please explain??? and also which one is called Jeff??? i thought it was from L to R, Todd, Rick, Joel and Jason.

    L

  • Jeff Oxley was the original bass and is the one in this video. Joel Rutherford didn't join the group until later.

  • Cracks me up...after the song, Todd almost gets hit in the face with the outside mic. Then Ox says to Jason "How about that G!", referring to the high G post that Jason hit.

    Incredible post!!

  • G or A flat?, but still really cool catch.

  • @vanceperry It was an Ab.

  • @RiftedRock Nope...your pitchpipe is out of tune. It's a G.

  • wow ridiculous post!

  • This is fantastic!

  • Felicidades por esas voces tan maravillosas, desde mi ciudad natal, un fuerte abrazo para todos.

  • It's great to see this! And I'd love it if you can share more vids from the VM's 1995 England shows.

  • nice mullet ox-man

  • Thank you. I have been waiting forever for the rest of that video and anything more you have Acoustix. No quartet will ever come close to them! Joel is great...But the Jeff Oxley days own!!! Jeff Oxley is God.

  • Jason January is the man, he could go all the way to December with that voice!!!!!!!!

  • LOVE this song....and quartet

  • I think they are the best of all time. I mean think about it.

-They won their first time out.

-Come out with 5 awesome cd's

    -Lasted 17 years and counting!!

-They epitomize what a quartet should sound like.

  • I'd have to say that Acoustix is definitely one of the top runners for best quartet of all time!

  • I agree!

  • oxley's mullet is money!!!

  • They were amazing. Havent they reformed? thought they were going to compete again.

  • Once you win the gold you have to at least change 2 members and your name to compete again. Acoustix is still around. Joel Rutherford, the bass for Glory Days, is the bass for them. Joel and Rick are now in Glory days and competed for the first time this July. They came in 6th. Pretty good for their first International.

  • That is a BAD rule. The rules for Texas University Interscholastic League, Ensemble competition, a winning ensemble cannot win two years in a row, but can compete to win after 2 years. I think the standards would be raised if the professional level had the same system, letting a group be King of the Hill as long as they are worthy.

  • I think it would be cool if every 5 years or so they had a competition between the gold medal winners for those past 5 years, or 10 years. That would be an exciting competition.

  • it would indeed, but if you win like the year after that competition, you'd have to stay in shape for another four years, while the winners from that year can perform at their best...

I say they should have an alternative championship where any quartet can compete nomatter who won the years before...

  • Good idea.

Of course most of the time, for the first couple of years anyway, after a victory they are booked nearly every weekend. That's why I thought going out 5 years would be good cause most of them will stay togehter and keep singing anyway. Or do it like the choruses and let them come back every third year if they want to.

  • Well the actual reason they do not allow past champs to compete actually came around after the second or third international back in the 1940's. After the Bartesville Barflies were unable to repeat as champs they instituted the "once a champion always a champion rule"

  • wow this is really cool, i wish the whole song of 'straighten up and fly right' was there too though.

  • I can always put it on here. I forgot that was on there on the end.

  • could you please???? I am so learning it if you do and I will be thanking you so much if you do :)

  • Sorry, I've been busy. I'll get strighten up and fly right on here soon.
