  • Ive seen a lot of people make theres with the snares or strings going across the corner, you you cld hit the top middle and get very little buzz. Is there a certain reason yours goes all the way across?

  • hey man thanks for this video! i built one for the band im starting up and a drum kit is too expensive so we decided on a cajon. and your video helped out ALOT!!!! thanks again! I plan to make a video response in the next few days (:

  • Hey great job i was just wondering the way u made the guitar string and that frame, ive watched many mroe videos and the string weaving was much different i just wanted to check with u if its better to use ur way or the crazy weaving thing but great video loved it, proballey make one

  • Did you ever upload the link of the demo?

  • nice vid dude!

  • hey did you ever make that video of you playing it?

  • when you were first making these, did you follow any kind of instructions anywhere? I am hopefully gonna make one soon!..thinking of best snare strategies, found alot. Not sure which ones are effective, and have the sounds I am looking for. I really love the sounds of the LP aspire series, Do you think there is any way I can make one like those?

    Love the video!

  • good one:) godbless

  • Anyone ever put a electric bass pickup in a cajon?

  • hi i like the cajon i want to make own 2 but ik dont have a snare and dont have money to buy one

can ik use somthing els?? pls react

  • @spranky123 u can get snare wires for about £7.50/$10 in almost any music shop. u can get them on the internet way cheaper as well.hope this helps!!

  • 4:09 What you need is a router!

  • 1:33 to 1:42 ....that's what she said.....but thanks man...I'm gonna try this :P

  • you sounded like Sam Witwicky. hahaha...gr8 video anyway!

  • Why not just go to a music store and get a snare wire, they are pretty cheap.. Good job though!!!

  • nice job! thx! i will try to do the same one myself .

I recently noticed a box in a music video and was very surprised by its sound characteristics among the different places on the front panel, then found this funny box named cajon. I rely on it will be the excellent supplement for some strings like guitar, especially for outdoor perfomance.

sorry for my bad english (=^_^=)

  • hey peter!! awesome job. Wanna make one but not to sure how tall to make it. i'm 5'6" and i was wondering compared to yours what would that be?

  • one thing i would do for building the box is use a L or a square to make sure the box is squared up:)

  • what about Bass Guitar Strings?

  • hey bro, whens that video of you playing the cajon coming out?

  • me and my friend made an acoustic band and we were looking for cajons at a cheap price, now that we have seen this we are going to make one so we can finally play live, thank you very much, you explained this very good. A++

  • Do the guitar strings need to be touching the striking plate? Or are they slightly away from it?

  • I've looked at some pictures and some have the sound hole on the side will this effect the sound?

  • Making it as we speak! :P

  • Fantastic! I've been looking for a step by step guide to make a cajon drum for ages! I will build it and then record a song with it and post it as a video response :) Seriously...thank you! :D

  • You are totally adorable! Thanks for this great instructional video. Easy to follow; only a few spots of clarification needed. Hope to see more...

  • So what if I put multiple holes in the back you think it would give out a cool sound?

  • @NBurnam92 I was wondering the same thing. I was sitting here thinking about just using a hole saw attachment to drill some 1/2 holes all over the back. I wonder if the sound is has more base with the larger whole and more highs with a smaller hole??

  • Do the strings touch the stricking plate ? If they dont how far from it should they be ? Plaz answer because ive made everything and im stuck here

  • Nice video... ill start build my cajon soon!

  • i have stringing problem ...

HOW TO MAKE and WHERE IS the end of the string (the end without nut) stay?

and sometimes i saw there were some additional little bells attached together with the string.

  • i have watched and studied this video for over a month now and am going to make it today. i just have a question, instead of a guitar peg, is it okay to use like wood putty or some sort of glue or filler for the strings.

  • @MeTsRoCkMySoCk13 I know nothing, but I think he only uses that long stick he showed us WHILE he's doing the stringing, and doesn't leave it in afterwards. Otherwise, he'd have told us to break it off into pieces, or he'd say we need like eight of them. Right? I think he just uses them the way you would ask another person to put their finger on your laces as you tie up your ice skates. Oh, and Wood Putty or glue would take time to dry, allowing the strings to slip before that.

  • This video is REALLY helpful, thanks! As you said, a lot of people show the finished product with the guitar string snare part, but hardly any show how to do it, I was really confused about that. So thanks! Great video!

  • Wicked awesome Video! Thanks, I'm going to make one.

  • Really good tutorial, should the front strike panel be free of screws at the top?

  • Someone else asked this question a couple months ago, but I don't see an answer, so I'll ask again. Should the snare strings be fairly tight or sorta loose? How much tension gives the optimum sound?

  • @alexruz0218 You may have already found an answer, but if not, here is what I surmise. The frame with the strings has to be tacked into the front, so that when you put the thin front strike plate on, the snare strings lie against it. They vibrate when you hit the top, not so much when you hit the middle.

  • i just spoke with my guidance counselor. he said that i should quit school and just sell my cajons. thank you for giving me the inspiration!

  • i have seen the strings vertical doesit mater also seen in a upside down v pattern

  • you can also use a hole bit for the sound hole..

  • thanks for the video man, I have also wanted a Cajon. I Have to make an instrument for college and Im going to make one of these!!

  • Thanks, I'm a drummer and i've been interested in getting a cajon for a long time. But they were so expensive! But maybe in the future just make one! Thanks man.

  • Is the trick to keep the guitar strings really tight or more on the loose side?

  • Excellent mate ! well done,,,, just finished mine for our accoustic duo and it works really well,,, thanks !
