having a good security system is great, it's a necessity that every console needs to prevent the unlicensed games, but, modding needs to be supported, not avoided. The great thing about the xbox 1 was that you could mod it and have tons of fun doing that, you need to have a clear difference between the modding and online games, and the effort should be made to keep the two seperate. Having your own modded private lobby would be a great advancement towards gaming.

the last part isnt really very true... the wii and 360 were both originally hacked specifically for piracy, even if it was only a dvd drive firmware. after that there was no incentive to even look for any other method.

and it completely ignores the money involved in hacks and being the first to make a hardware modification that relies on a third party piece of equipment. allowing linux isn't going to get rid of any of this
