@atmsk804 Many have been saying the same thing. I'm considering GW2, as well. It comes out pretty soon and looks good. Also, its Free-to-play (usually a bad omen, but maybe an exception?), which means its at LEAST worth a try lol. I'm playing EVE online now and that's pretty frickin sweet
I plan to buy a 13 inch macbook pro with intel i5. Since the model you are playing on is over 2 years old, do you think that this newer one would run just as good? I'm so hesitant.
It's the intel that I'm worried about. I hear so many things: i7 is the way to go, i5 is a big difference. But I can't afford the i7, which is why I plan to buy the 13 inch which is i5.
my macbook pro used to get really hot while playing and was wuite annoying, but it was running at like 120+ fps, i suggest capping your fps at 50-60, as this will prevent the graphics card from working too hard and will keep the computer quite cool
I am also thinking of getting one for WoW, does the macbook pro get hot while playing? also is the laptop quiet while playing? the framrates looks fine to me, but these are justsome questions i have
@atmsk804, Hello, i am wanting to buy the 13" macbookpro 2010 model. with 4gig ram 250 gig hdd 320m grpahics card and the core2duo. i am wanting to play wow on good or higher settings, with a but of tweking to my prefrence. how much fps would i get in populated areas or raids? WITHOUT the mac recording system, please help me. (also, i think it would run well but without dedicated graphics it kinda worrys me and will it perform with out dedicated graphics?) thanks for your time.
@sloperider95 im talking by experience: Macbooks cooling system rocks while its quiet it sits on the back blowing the air up and not down on the table. (Its cool at all times, while quiet)
@sulkhan it has been running very smoothly so far. My FPS have stopped being so sporadic like it was in the weeks before cata ( 45 one second, then 5 the next).
@atmsk804 i have been getting about 17 with this computer with a wiped HD can you please help D:!?!?! I also had that sporadic prob myself but it went from 17 to 3.
@soryn305 Blizzard has said they have been having problems with certain nvidia graphics and they are working on a solution. I say play around with you video settings, turn sun shafts off for sure tho.
@atmsk804 oh i i turned everything down, everything is low or off. Its so strange that with 30 latency my friend with the same comp has twice as much fps : /. (just wiped my hd) so i have no idea what to do,
@atmsk804 jus recently since the lastest patch i have been having sporadic fps problems going from 70 all the way down to 10, i have the 15 inch intel core i7 macbook pro and i have had it a little under a year. Do you kno any solutions for my problem?
Hey, I'm thinking of getting the 13 inch MBP for WoW. Have you had any issues since posting this video? And have you tried it yet post-Shattering in WoW? I'm wondering how well it'll do in Cataclysm. Also, can you tell me how much RAM you have?

high? depends on what you do. If you do 25 mans i dont suggest you put the settings on ultra cus it will slow down, same with wintergrasp. I have mine on high with a few exceptions and i rarely have performance issues...
does the game slow down the mac book pro conciderably because i was thinking about getting the 13 inch, but would also like to use programmes like audacity, movie maker, etc. would this make a huge difference to the speed?
i was considering getting a lap top especially the mac book pro i was just wonderiing if does get laggy in raid's and does it get warm over a good 3 hour's or so and can it hold internet wow and vent at the same time
Hi dude :( im caught betweeen a vry hard decision :( imacs have 3.06 ghz and ATI radeon graphics , a macbook has 2.6 ghz and nvidia
I was planning to get the imac , but then i figured , it would be awesome to have a 10 hr battery laptop , take it on planes , to skool , if the power goes out its still bright and awesome ... .But the imac has way better performance :(
Im gnna use it mainly for garage band , video editin , and WoW . and other stuff like facebook
guess it really comes down to how bad you want to be able to bring you computer places. You wont notice a difference in term of performance when it comes to editing and music but you will notice it when it comes to wow. 15 and 17 inch MBP do come with better graphics.
I do not run everything on max settings simply because i dont see the need to but had no problem with them on. I never have shadows on other than just testing it out.
Hey - i'm really thinking about getting the MBP 13" 2.4GHz *OR* 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB Memory with NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics and am trying to find out if it will considerably improve my fps.
I currently run on the 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB Memmory 667 HMz DDR2 SDRAM.
My fps in Dalaran is at the moment maximum 4 fps, I can't do 25 man raids because my macbook just can't cope with it.
Will the above MBP provide noticeably better fps? Cheers!
I'm trying to choose between the 21.5-inch iMac with the 3.06ghz processor and the NVIDIA GeForce 9400m Graphics card or the MacBook Pro with the 2.4ghz processor and the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics and I cant choose.. I'm an avid WoW player and I am upgrading from a HP Compaq NC6230 notebook that would barely run dalaran with 2gb ram and a small Intel® Pentium® M processor.. I just want to be able to throw on all video settings to max and still be able to walk through dalaran lagfree
So no freezez?? I had Windows all my life and im switching to a mac because im getting soo many viruses because of limewire and then the damn computer just blacked out completely. So i was going to get an I pad but they probably wont even hold WoW. Then i was going to get an alienwere but it is windows and i need a mac so this is my last resort.
Just send me a message or reply telling me if i should get a macbook pro
Well i want a computer now and i dont have enough for a mac and im not going to wait till i get a summer job to get a mac. So im just going to get an m11x Alienware laptop. I cant wait but they are so small but only 800 instead of 1200. So if you have any reasoins i should not get an alienware tell me
@31197MARVEL I don't see how your getting so many viruses from LimeWire. You must download songs like crazy from there as I have it and my Anti-Virus (Kaspersky) has only detected one virus which was a random Reba Mcentire (sp?) song that my parents downloaded. It found that pretty quick too.
im considering getting an imac 21.5 or a macbook 13". just one question. Would the 2.53ghz macbook pro run this with better frame rates than the 2.26ghz one?
@spyofanime - the keyboard LED light, the aluminum design, expandable to 8GB RAM instead of 4GB [reg MacBook] and the Pro also has a SD card slot, Firewire, and also the MBP which has a second graphics card, so 2 graphics cards = better gaming.
Oh wow it's performing much better than I imagined it would. I thought you'd need the 15 inch macbook pro with the dedicated 256MB card to run WoW with high settings and no lag but it looks like you're running it just fine with the 9400M.
FALSE! The speed of your processor is only 1/4 of a major factor of evaluating its performance. For a game like WoW, the difference between a 2.26 GHz and 2.53 GHz will be literally unoticable during the game.
...If your rendering a lot of images that would normally take like 6 hours w the 2.26 may take like 5 hours with the 2.53 as a guide line
Your video's are a great help. Can you show some game play in Dalaran City. I have the Macbook Pro late 08 and it gets horrible lag only in that city.
not to sure about the monitor but it doesnt lag at all in ulduar. ive only done the first few bosses in TOC and it didnt lag at all either. TOC doesnt have nearly as much going on as ulduar so it should be fine.
I'm considering getting a 13" Macbook pro for college. What framerates do you typically get and on what settings for WoW when you're not recording video? Also, do you do any video editing, or use any other graphic intensive productivity programs and if so how do they perform? I am a graphic design major, need to be able to use programs like adobe after effects and photoshop, but gaming is a definite plus.
like all macbooks it does get hot. i do use SMCfancontrol and even have a little desktop fan that keeps good air flow underneath it. i have it propped up on like a deck of cards so there is some space.
i think i dipped down to like 12-13 during like Ignis and same thing during a peak hours wintergrasp battle but even then fully playable. only thing i have experienced that might be considered a downside is macbooks get really hot so its good to have a fan controlling application
Thinking about getting WoW again. This video helped me a lot.

Any Heat issues with it? are you using SMCfancontrol or anything?
somwright 2 years ago
like all macbooks it does get hot. i do use SMCfancontrol and even have a little desktop fan that keeps good air flow underneath it. i have it propped up on like a deck of cards so there is some space.
atmsk804 2 years ago
Thanks, what settings do you use SMC wise? and if I knocked down the video settings all to low would that be a substitute for SMC?

Iphoner3000 2 years ago
i've only played on a 13 inch screen so it doesnt to me. if you're moving from a bigger screen it might.

what is the lowest frames you experience and where? any pros or cons u see in running on a MacBook
..for example in Dal i run like 10..
lmprider92 2 years ago
i think i dipped down to like 12-13 during like Ignis and same thing during a peak hours wintergrasp battle but even then fully playable. only thing i have experienced that might be considered a downside is macbooks get really hot so its good to have a fan controlling application
