  • Thinking about getting WoW again. This video helped me a lot.

  • @Willis00004 good to hear. Sadly the flame has burnt out for me

  • @atmsk804 Many have been saying the same thing. I'm considering GW2, as well. It comes out pretty soon and looks good. Also, its Free-to-play (usually a bad omen, but maybe an exception?), which means its at LEAST worth a try lol. I'm playing EVE online now and that's pretty frickin sweet

  • im not a big fan of the 13inch wich s why im switch to pc and using my television as the monitor. and im building a computer for the fist time :)

  • I plan to buy a 13 inch macbook pro with intel i5. Since the model you are playing on is over 2 years old, do you think that this newer one would run just as good? I'm so hesitant.

It's the intel that I'm worried about. I hear so many things: i7 is the way to go, i5 is a big difference. But I can't afford the i7, which is why I plan to buy the 13 inch which is i5.

  • what if i have a 13inch macbook pro 2009 model with 8gbRAM 160gigdrive

  • HDD or SSD???

  • my macbook pro used to get really hot while playing and was wuite annoying, but it was running at like 120+ fps, i suggest capping your fps at 50-60, as this will prevent the graphics card from working too hard and will keep the computer quite cool

    specs:

    macbook pro 2010 15"

    2.4ghz core i5

    4gb RAM

    nVidia 330 GT

  • I am also thinking of getting one for WoW, does the macbook pro get hot while playing? also is the laptop quiet while playing? the framrates looks fine to me, but these are justsome questions i have

  • @sloperider95

It does get a bit hot. I suggest running a program to control the fan speed and propping it up to allow air to get underneath.

  • @atmsk804, Hello, i am wanting to buy the 13" macbookpro 2010 model. with 4gig ram 250 gig hdd 320m grpahics card and the core2duo. i am wanting to play wow on good or higher settings, with a but of tweking to my prefrence. how much fps would i get in populated areas or raids? WITHOUT the mac recording system, please help me. (also, i think it would run well but without dedicated graphics it kinda worrys me and will it perform with out dedicated graphics?) thanks for your time.

  • @sloperider95 im talking by experience: Macbooks cooling system rocks while its quiet it sits on the back blowing the air up and not down on the table. (Its cool at all times, while quiet)

  • Cool. I hope Cataclysm runs on this mac smoothly. I am getting my new 13' macbook pro tomoroow and I hope I will enjoy wow on mac :)

  • @sulkhan it has been running very smoothly so far. My FPS have stopped being so sporadic like it was in the weeks before cata ( 45 one second, then 5 the next).

  • @atmsk804 i have been getting about 17 with this computer with a wiped HD can you please help D:!?!?! I also had that sporadic prob myself but it went from 17 to 3.

  • @soryn305 Blizzard has said they have been having problems with certain nvidia graphics and they are working on a solution. I say play around with you video settings, turn sun shafts off for sure tho.

  • @atmsk804 oh i i turned everything down, everything is low or off. Its so strange that with 30 latency my friend with the same comp has twice as much fps : /. (just wiped my hd) so i have no idea what to do,

  • @atmsk804 jus recently since the lastest patch i have been having sporadic fps problems going from 70 all the way down to 10, i have the 15 inch intel core i7 macbook pro and i have had it a little under a year. Do you kno any solutions for my problem?

  • Do you have lag in places like Dalaran with full graphics settings?

  • Hey, I'm thinking of getting the 13 inch MBP for WoW. Have you had any issues since posting this video? And have you tried it yet post-Shattering in WoW? I'm wondering how well it'll do in Cataclysm. Also, can you tell me how much RAM you have?

  • @ArchaicEsoterica i am in the process of making a post shattering video.

  • what r u using to record?

  • I also have this Macbook. I've been playing WoW for a while and felt a little worried about performance in raids. But after watching this I'll be able to sleep at night knowing that I won't have to buy a new Mac when I ding 80!

    Great Stuff!

  • what race are u hunter? i am hunter if u are one is it worth lvling it up so much or what should i do i have a lvl 10 rogue and my hunter lvl 28 now awesome for me but seriously what race are u ?

  • @kiral1998

i am a human warrior. play what you find most fun really.

  • hey how long should i be it take to download cauz i have mac but takes forever to download wow plz help me

  • ok thx love apple good video too

  • How low do I have to put the settings to not get it lagging plz reply

  • @kiral1998

high? depends on what you do. If you do 25 mans i dont suggest you put the settings on ultra cus it will slow down, same with wintergrasp. I have mine on high with a few exceptions and i rarely have performance issues...

  • @atmsk804 was this 25 man or 10 man? if it was 10 man, how is 25 going for you?

  • does the game slow down the mac book pro conciderably because i was thinking about getting the 13 inch, but would also like to use programmes like audacity, movie maker, etc. would this make a huge difference to the speed?

  • @sparrow196

do you mean does simply having it installed on the computer slow it down? If so then no it doesn't effect it one bit.

  • do the wasd keys get hot to the point where its bothersome?

  • @Barbados190 no

  • So ive been wondering on how to minimize wow on the macbook pro so i can check on my battery life and to go on vent without logging off wow.

    thanks for the help.

  • @AinoKea35 command M

  • did you install this in on it when it was straight out of the box with stock components and everything? and does it still run ok even with wow on it?

  • What are the huge differences between mac's and pc's? Which do you perfer better because i really like macbook pro's.

  • i was considering getting a lap top especially the mac book pro i was just wonderiing if does get laggy in raid's and does it get warm over a good 3 hour's or so and can it hold internet wow and vent at the same time

  • @ilikemuzic56

FPS really never would go down low enough for me to notice. It does get hot yes. Holding internet signal is not a problem.

  • does your macbook get alittle hot on the keyboard when you move foward with the wasd keys?

  • @emericann147

it does get hot. I have a program called smcFancontrol which allows you go manually control the settings on the computers fan and that helps a bit.

  • Hi dude :( im caught betweeen a vry hard decision :( imacs have 3.06 ghz and ATI radeon graphics , a macbook has 2.6 ghz and nvidia

I was planning to get the imac , but then i figured , it would be awesome to have a 10 hr battery laptop , take it on planes , to skool , if the power goes out its still bright and awesome ... .But the imac has way better performance :(

Im gnna use it mainly for garage band , video editin , and WoW . and other stuff like facebook

    Wat should i do :'( ??

  • @AwesomeTeeVee

guess it really comes down to how bad you want to be able to bring you computer places. You wont notice a difference in term of performance when it comes to editing and music but you will notice it when it comes to wow. 15 and 17 inch MBP do come with better graphics.

  • Are you using some specific software for play wow on a mac? Or there is WoW client for mac ?

  • @bICEQ no theres nothing specific. All blizzard games work both on macs and PCs from the same disc.

  • @atmsk804 ohh. thats great ! Thank u

  • I think i'll buy an Asus laptop, with the following specs.

    i5 430M 2.26 ghz

    DDR3(4gig RAM)

    Nvidia GT325M

    16' screen

    500HD 5400RPM

Will my laptop run WoW on maxed graphics even better than this macbook?

    Please reply!:) Greetings, Max.

  • @zim3x

    yes

I do not run everything on max settings simply because i dont see the need to but had no problem with them on. I never have shadows on other than just testing it out.

  • What was the fps running at and what were the settings?

  • how much framerates do u have? im thinkink of buying a macbook pro. thnks ;)

  • @GDFmafia

fps is fine in pretty much every circumstance. i rarely ever notice it slowing down

  • Hey - i'm really thinking about getting the MBP 13" 2.4GHz *OR* 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB Memory with NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics and am trying to find out if it will considerably improve my fps.

I currently run on the 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2GB Memmory 667 HMz DDR2 SDRAM.

My fps in Dalaran is at the moment maximum 4 fps, I can't do 25 man raids because my macbook just can't cope with it.

Will the above MBP provide noticeably better fps? Cheers!

  • @ajmp1981

you should see dramatic improvement. Before this computer i played on a regular older edition macbook and had the same performance as you.

  • is this the 2.66 ghz or 2.4 ghz?

  • Raiding looks great on the computer!

    Thinking of getting one myself..

Now i'm posting this in June 2010

Can you do a video of you in Icc possibly?

    Thanks :D

  • @EeekCam

i canceled my subscription, so nope lol

  • how do you do the quest search everytime i try it doesnt do anything

  • hey dude who made this video, since when is "GV" a measurement of memory? did you mean to write "GB"?

  • @gtatec9 V and B are right next to each other lol wasnt gonna redo it once i noticed

  • @atmsk804

    aight, gotcha

  • what about in dollaron?

  • I'm trying to choose between the 21.5-inch iMac with the 3.06ghz processor and the NVIDIA GeForce 9400m Graphics card or the MacBook Pro with the 2.4ghz processor and the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics and I cant choose.. I'm an avid WoW player and I am upgrading from a HP Compaq NC6230 notebook that would barely run dalaran with 2gb ram and a small Intel® Pentium® M processor.. I just want to be able to throw on all video settings to max and still be able to walk through dalaran lagfree

  • any change when your doing a bg? especially a.v. since there's so many people running around

  • Do you use max graphics? What is the frame rate generally?

  • So no freezez?? I had Windows all my life and im switching to a mac because im getting soo many viruses because of limewire and then the damn computer just blacked out completely. So i was going to get an I pad but they probably wont even hold WoW. Then i was going to get an alienwere but it is windows and i need a mac so this is my last resort.

Just send me a message or reply telling me if i should get a macbook pro

  • @31197MARVEL macbook pro is a great computer. I will never get any other type of computer other than mac

  • Well i want a computer now and i dont have enough for a mac and im not going to wait till i get a summer job to get a mac. So im just going to get an m11x Alienware laptop. I cant wait but they are so small but only 800 instead of 1200. So if you have any reasoins i should not get an alienware tell me

  • Alienware is made by Dell. So it's just a Dell laptop in an ugly case.

  • what are the stats of your 13 inch MBP? im looking at getting the 1200$ one with a 500GB hard drive extra

  • Save some money and buy the hard drive separately and install it yourself.

  • @31197MARVEL Lol Dont get a iPad They are just a over sized iPhone Macbook pro's are insane i just ordered one ^^

  • Under no circumstance will the iPad EVER have WoW.

  • @MikehMike01 they've already gotten WoW to run on an iPod touch...

  • @asphyxiafeeling Remote VNC is nowhere near the same thing.

  • @asphyxiafeeling nope they havnt :P what your seeing is someone using their ipod touch to control+ view another computer over a wifi connection.

  • @31197MARVEL I don't see how your getting so many viruses from LimeWire. You must download songs like crazy from there as I have it and my Anti-Virus (Kaspersky) has only detected one virus which was a random Reba Mcentire (sp?) song that my parents downloaded. It found that pretty quick too.

  • @31197MARVEL You deserve to pay twice as much for a computer if you get viruses. All I can say.

  • LOOKS SEXY :d

  • @roulston13 i was probly getting 15-20 on bosses.

  • what fps did you get?

  • @iTechInfo 15 in dal, 30-40 in pvp, 65 in open world which is what i have it capped at

  • How well will this work with the new 2010 version

  • @818MajorS mine is 120 gb

  • wow, so with EVERYTHING ON HIGH besides shadows, and full resolution, you get like 60 fps without recording?

  • what does the Firewire/ware do on the Mac?

  • cool vid cheers.

is 13inch too small for wow? considering the 15inch?

does a mac have built in video recording system?

  • im considering getting an imac 21.5 or a macbook 13". just one question. Would the 2.53ghz macbook pro run this with better frame rates than the 2.26ghz one?

  • do you have the 2g or 4g?

  • Hey mate,

Is this mac osx version or windows version?

    Full screen or window mode?

    Cheers!

  • wat makes the macbook pro so great? especially for its hefty price tag

  • @spyofanime Macs aint expensive, they cost more than cheap' crap PC's

  • @spyofanime - the keyboard LED light, the aluminum design, expandable to 8GB RAM instead of 4GB [reg MacBook] and the Pro also has a SD card slot, Firewire, and also the MBP which has a second graphics card, so 2 graphics cards = better gaming.

  • Oh wow it's performing much better than I imagined it would. I thought you'd need the 15 inch macbook pro with the dedicated 256MB card to run WoW with high settings and no lag but it looks like you're running it just fine with the 9400M.

  • i'd like to ask if its a big difference if u play on 2Gb ram or 4Gb?

    thx

  • not to sure sorry.

  • can you still use adons like quest helper on a mac book pro

  • WoW on a mac is just the same as a PC, so yes, all addons are the same.

  • Yes easiest way is to use a program like WoWmatrix

  • 2GB ram is not enough 4GB is good though.

With 2 gb of ram you would start to notice slowdowns even when loading web pages.

Also cpu speed is very important.

  • FALSE! The speed of your processor is only 1/4 of a major factor of evaluating its performance. For a game like WoW, the difference between a 2.26 GHz and 2.53 GHz will be literally unoticable during the game.

...If your rendering a lot of images that would normally take like 6 hours w the 2.26 may take like 5 hours with the 2.53 as a guide line

  • @kubiszyn I know but ram is a big factor, When Page file fills up the system bottlenecks like crazy.

  • yea, paging owns you so hard lol. BTW re-reading my comment I hope I didn't sound rude with the 'FALSE' :)

  • I just got a 13" MBP, what is the mac recording system and how do you do it?

  • macs have their own recording system. look under mac options.

  • Your video's are a great help. Can you show some game play in Dalaran City. I have the Macbook Pro late 08 and it gets horrible lag only in that city.

    Thanks

  • not to sure about the monitor but it doesnt lag at all in ulduar. ive only done the first few bosses in TOC and it didnt lag at all either. TOC doesnt have nearly as much going on as ulduar so it should be fine.

  • I'm considering getting a 13" Macbook pro for college. What framerates do you typically get and on what settings for WoW when you're not recording video? Also, do you do any video editing, or use any other graphic intensive productivity programs and if so how do they perform? I am a graphic design major, need to be able to use programs like adobe after effects and photoshop, but gaming is a definite plus.

  • How do you think the 13" macbook pro will fare with starcraft II?

  • like cake

  • yeah thats what im wondering

  • is that the 9400m graphics or the better one?

  • 9400m. dont think you can get the better one in the 13 inch

  • gdgd thats really smooth!

  • What meamory sticks do you have the 2gb or 4gb? plz answer and ty for this awesome video:)

  • soo awesome ,, i think im going top buy one ,, but hwo u install wow on it? and does it have many usb ports>`?

    great vid man!

  • if you have wrath of the lich king thats all you need. it installs everything

  • That's awesome. All I needed to know for buying one :D

    Thanks!

  • Could you recordd a Wintergrasp? ide appreciate it. picking up my macbook pro in abouttt a week. cant wait.. just wondering what to expect.

or even a strand of the ancients would doo. whichever. thankss

  • what video card on this man? 9400?

  • Is playing wow on the macbook hard with the multi touch gestures?

  • i use a usb mouse, not the track pad. if that was what you are asking

  • how many ghz is yours? 2.23?

  • Oh sorry you tells them at start of the video, but 4 GV means you have 4 GO of RAM right?

  • lol yeah thats supposed to be GB

  • Awesome thanks alot for the video man I think I'm gonna get one of these but what are the specs of this computer?

    Thanks you.

  • Comment removed

  • Any Heat issues with it? are you using SMCfancontrol or anything?

  • like all macbooks it does get hot. i do use SMCfancontrol and even have a little desktop fan that keeps good air flow underneath it. i have it propped up on like a deck of cards so there is some space.

  • Thanks, what settings do you use SMC wise? and if I knocked down the video settings all to low would that be a substitute for SMC?

  • i hear putting a cap on the FPS helps. Mine is capped at 50

  • does it seem to cramped up on a 13

  • i've only played on a 13 inch screen so it doesnt to me. if you're moving from a bigger screen it might.

  • cool, im playing from a 15, but moving to 13, it wont be that big of a diff

  • Ya, how's Dalaran on this comp? cause I'm buying one on tuesday

  • just uploaded video of dalaran

  • ok thanks man

  • what is the lowest frames you experience and where? any pros or cons u see in running on a MacBook

..for example in Dal i run like 10..

  • i think i dipped down to like 12-13 during like Ignis and same thing during a peak hours wintergrasp battle but even then fully playable. only thing i have experienced that might be considered a downside is macbooks get really hot so its good to have a fan controlling application

  • 2.26 ghz, 4 gb of ram

  • Thank you so much for this video, i was afraid to get the new mac and not being able to run wow :)

  • how about a tour of Org/SW?

  • try to get that up in the next couple days
