Unreal Love the style. Good setup. All I know from the other comments is that it doesnt matter what you use or how you use it the only thing that matters is what the crowd hears. the crowd doesnt care if you use Traktor, Torq Virtual Dj Record, Ableton or Logic as long as it sounds good. That Rips ProofNZ Keep it up
@MrXDANOX What is your point though? DJing constitutes a lot more than beatmatching. Anyone who can count to 4 can beatmatch. Ten years of having to deal with a system that wavered and wandered was enough for me.
very true it does constitute more than beatmatchingonly its a bit more than counting to 4... thats just getting it in key not in time. my point being, call me old skool?? im up for CDJ's but this is just plain cheating.
Great mix, thanks for posting this, helps out if your learning what you can actually do. what i find odd is that you don't seem to use a headset to preview what your going to mix.
@theeboobtube If I was mixing for a long time, I would - mainly to make sure it was the track I wanted. For the sake of this demo, I was really just throwing tunes in there.. ;)
Hey man thanks a lot for the vid, exactly what Im looking for as I want to learn how to do sampling more and better, looking forward to your explanation and future vids!
Now with two EKS XP 10 i can drop loops and so... But with normally turntables i cant do that (!?). What you think i can do? :-)
I would like to buy a midi controller (novation control or so) to control effects (traktor effects are better than the effects on my djm 600) and i want to make loops with this little thing :D
Nope, the BCR2000 will connect via USB to the laptop to enable midi control. You would also in theory be able to use the Total Control, the only thing to consider is what soundcard you are going to use?
can you still use mixer effects and fader start when using traktor scratch pro? and another question, can you play a normal cd (not codified) on decks while youre running traktor? thanks
Not sure about traditional fader start - however, I am sure you could set that up with a suitable midi sending crossfader - would depend on te mixer.
You can use CD/Vinyl as well as timecode - when you plug in the system you also plug in a 'through' cable - which works just like the CDJ or Vinyl normally would.
Omg man, realy impressive stuff, i love traktor pro and traktor pro's users:P
Anyway i have a question, do u know if its possible to control 2 traktor's pro player with just 1 turntable??so u can mix as if u got 2 turntables....let me know thx
wow dude, talk about inspiration. I didnt even know traktor came with that kind of hardware.
lemme ask you something. Do you do this at all professionally? you said youve been doing this for more than a decade, how much of your free time is taken up with this? i want to get into being a good DJ and doing it pro, but i dont have a lot of time.
i like mp3 mixing, i just need the baller hardware. my roommate is getting a alan and hethe zone 92 mixer soon. should be fun :D
Depends on your definition of 'professional' I guess... I certainly don't make much money out of it.
Time is easy though. Just get rid of the television, and spend the time you 'find' from there playing with the kit.
I have worked in a lot of music stores, and for distributors, but that doesn't actually mean you get to sit around playing with equipment all day long. This is really my passion, so I tend to focus all my spare time on it...
just wondering what you prefer. traktor pro or serato scratch? cant make my mind up which one to get. i dont vinyl mix much but heard serato is still good for cdj-ing. just want someone else's opinion. also could you use an apogee ensemble interface for either?
I essentially went to Traktor because it let me use three turntables with timecode control.
Both are excellent programs. It just depends. If you want something to essentially emulate a bag of records, that you can still use with vinyl - Serato is the go. It is focused, and works well.
If you want to start mucking around with 3/4 deck mixing, effects, midi control, then Traktor is the more 'advanced' software..
If thats the case, then I would suggest the Traktor Pro Scratch System, which includes the Audio8 - an audio interface to both get the turntable signal into the computer, and the audio signal back out - like the Serato Box..
TBH, I'm not sure about using the timecode again due to my experience with Final Scratch and also the costs involved. However, if it were to make things a lot easier, then I would consider it.
I also have 2 SLDZ's that I can use the CD timecode for as well I suppose.
I also do a lot of traveling and would possibly need to use the internal mixer of Traktor, obviously having to use the mouse.
The 'version' of the software I am using is Traktor Scratch Pro - So I can use the timecode, use an external mixer, or, I could mix all in the box, with either the mouse, or a midi controller.
I would only suggest, that it is a lot more fun when you have a tactile, physical interface.
Certainly though, things have changed a lot since Final Scratch - I had one of the original hockey-pucks, and while the concept was revolutionary, the execution was terrible.
Really interesting, it seems to be very funny aswell. Atm I'm using Traktor 3 in my performances, do you recommend Traktor Pro? I tried it once but still dont get the hole difference. Thanks for the constant feedback. Cheers.
Mmmm... like many updates - if you are happy with what you have, and dont see any new functionality that you require, is there any need to upgrade? I cant say that I have found anything in the new version that is - critical - to what I do. On saying that, I had mostly been using the Traktor Sratch functionality, and have only just started mixing all in the laptop..
Mate - Awesome. I have traktor 3 and have just got my BCR2000 - I have set BCR up for all the controls. It's a lot of fun, but has been an interesting path to find something that works for me. Thanks for sharing your video. I may have a question or 2 for you, if you think you have the time. Your site has been added to my faves. Good on ya!

does it works? and how? i am a noob :P
Kiste1993 2 years ago
Actually, within reason, you can still use loops, and have Traktor sync the tracks for you with timecode control... ;)
I have just swapped the BCR with a 1D - so will have another video up soon where I will show the sync and the timecode working together..

This sounds tight!

It does not seem to synch as easy as it may appear. i've just started fiddling about with traktor. thanks for the video btw.

Nope. You will need to do a bit of work beforehand to confirm that beat grids are right.
No different to actually knowing the music you are playing though..

no turntables or cdj's????

thanks for the video ,
brother,
i would tike to buy one BCR2000 ,
but do i need to have the Rane Empath mixer too ?
or just connect the BCR2000 direct to my laptop?
i have one USB mixer ( NUMARK Total Control )
can i use both together? my usb mixer and the BCR2000 ?
or do i need to have the Rene Mixer
thanks !

this is what i have on traktor-preferences>SoundCard:
do i need more than that ?
you use the BCR2000 for add some good effects right,
here on youtube i have seen a controller ( KORG Nanokontrol USB Midi Control Pad - Black ) what you think about that pad control?
do you recommend to buy one ,
it's more cheap the the BCR200 LOL
thanks!

Hi Proof, wondering if you could help me.
I'm thinking of Traktor pro after using final Scratch years ago but I aint sure what I need to jack in my pioneer 700 to my macbook?
What will I need and and will I need an additional soundcard?
Appreciate if you could help me with this. :-)
YOGIGER 2 years ago
Are you looking at utilising the timecode?
If thats the case, then I would suggest the Traktor Pro Scratch System, which includes the Audio8 - an audio interface to both get the turntable signal into the computer, and the audio signal back out - like the Serato Box..

Thanks a lot Proof, I think I may well make the purchase now after your advice. :-)
My Final Scratch years ago would stick on me, freeze the PC, had bad calibration etc etc..That kinda pout me off but your advice has helped.
Cheers.

I personall find traktor pro to have a lot easier workflow than traktor 3. The fact that it is less stable (yet), is another thing.
Nice video, next time 4 decks mixing please :P
