  • In the spring of 1315... that´s 500 years earlier!

  • @RepublicOfCatyes Early 14th century-Early 19th Century: Also known as the "Little Ice Age".

  • me guuuuuusta -_- vicioooo

  • Anyone know the type of string instrument used over the cellos? Thanks :)

  • @blackbells the instrument is an Appalachian lap dulcimer :)

  • @blackbells It's called a dulcimer.

  • great instrumentals, the voice is also excellent, i just find the lyrics too be too simple, hence stupid.

  • It is called, "the little ice age."

  • I love Rasputina so much <3

  • Very nice :-)

  • they were so good live, this is music.

  • I love their style o.o

  • This was a FANTASTIC collab with Dame Darcy and Rasputina. <3

DD is a bit too much of a freak for my taste ;P but together they sound amazing.

  • Oh Perilous World is a masterpiece of progressive music. This is Rasputina at their creative and musical best. The line-up for this album and tour was their best...the wonderful Sarah Bowman and the eclectic Jonathan TeBeest. They are both no longer with Melora. Sarah is now paired with her twin sister playing guitar and doing uninspiring "indie" pop music in NYC. Jonathan is lost in MN. Sarah and Jonathan will never again reach the underground heights they enjoyed with Rasputina.

  • Hey thats not her sister Zoe, at least at the begging? or am i just tripping?

  • excellent pics

  • Absolutely great. Good voice too.

  • aaahhh, one of my favorites. absolutely terrifyingly mind blowing live. :)

  • Those legs.. <3

  • they just dropped an album on june 16th

  • Can't believe I didn't discover this band before...I missed something pretty big!

  • I love the lyrics.

  • first song I hear and I love it!!!!!!!

  • What was the name of the song AFTER this one on thealbum?

  • What a great sound

  • Do they have any actual music videos out?

  • @FoxTheZombieSlayer I think they just made one - the old headboard but they have a few good live ones on youtube also

  • @jelliedashes You know, I've never thought about it but I've never seen a single music video by Rasputina in all the years I've been listening to them. Interesting ...

  • Yeah, the Olde Headboard is out.

  • i cant get enough of this song or this group. amazing.

  • I love the photo at 2:31

  • @drewsky67 So do I. I love the bra she's wearing over her corset.

  • Im using this for my earth science project ; )

  • I just cant stop listining to this song . I love it so much !!!

  • I can't remember what the exact name of the term is,

but the natural current of warm water going to the north pole, getting cold,

then going deeper and going south to get warmer and start the cycle all over again was interrupted somehow, and it caused the weather to go to shit somehow.

  • two years after the great war of new Orleans

  • "Comments removed by author" really i think i would remember if i did that..its a vast freemason conspiracy!!!!!!

  • I watched a video in class called 'little Ice Age, Big Chill'

This actually happened, from 1300's to 1800's. So...yesh

  • I'm no history major, so did it really start in 1315 and last all the way to 1851, or was she taking creative liberties?

  • @smellslikechildren1

    It did, I discovered.

  • c'mon, you don't actually think this is a factual account? Don't you think if there was a 'mini ice age' in the early 1800s people would have heard about it before? It is scientifically impossible that the weather turned from 90 degrees to below freezing in a matter of hours. and if seasons had been inconsistent for 500 yrs., we would not have a concept of their consistency, would we? no, it's just a quirky little bit of fancy, like all their songs.

  • @moonlily1

No, actually it really did happen.

  • Not to mention, most of her songs are factual accounts.

  • No those wild temperature swings were legit and noted in the observations of that time. I believe the incident she was refering to actually happened in either New Hampshire or Massachusetts in June of that year. It was caused by a sharp cold front moving down from Canada.

  • The coldest period of those years was actually before Tambora erupted in April of 1815 and was during the Maunder minimum approx. from 1640-1715.

  • Acctually i live in canada and weather DOES change that fast.

  • both fast AND drastic? from 98 degrees to freezing in a matter of hours? hey, i'll try looking it up, but I'm super-skeptical.

  • okay, I got the scoop- it did happen. I didn't hear the part in the song about the eruption of mt. tambora, although it was actually a series of volcanic eruptions over the course of 1815 that was responsible. it takes a while for volcanic ash to circulate in the atmosphere.

  • 1200, actually.

That is when Atlantic Pack Ice began to grow.

  • You know what's neat about the lyrics to this song? I think it's neat how she just takes a certain point in history and talks about a bunch of things that happened during it. I did not realize how many things happened in 1816. Because I heard this song, I don't think I'll ever forget what year Frankenstein was written.

  • well it was actually published in 1818 but it only took her a year to write.. amazing that she wrote it at 18!!

  • Songs are probably one of the best ways of learning things, just in general. History tells particularly amazing stories.

  • Just google '1816 the year without a summer Rasputina' :)

  • i watched a program bout this 2day cool vid

  • This could possiblt be the best bit of editing I have ever seen ever! What a genius!

  • hehehe
