Let's face it, you're living with several birds, so there will always be an elevated level of particles (feces, dander) in the air. I would invest in a large HEPA air cleaner, and run it 24 hours a day.

@BoogieWithStew Nahh... I'm not allergic to them or anything like that, so there's no need to use such an expensive HEPA air cleaner ;-)

ok .here is so expensive and peoples that they use miele preefer to buy cloth bag fot them and its horrible to empty them . you must shake it up outside all of dust comes thru to your face .howerer these are the best vaccums ever

You can just remove the old bag fast from the edges to close it, But the new dustbag still better.

Handy video here. However, there are a few things:

Firstly you can by a HEPA filter for the S290 - I have one in mine!

Secondly its only got 1500 watts compared to the 2200 watts on the newer Miele and in your video on full power the new S5 would be louder anyway.

I'm not sure if there is a HEPA filter available for my S290. I don't necessary need one for that vacuum cleaner, but I'll look it up someday ;)

Regarding your second point: my new S5 is not as noisy as the S290 when I put both on full power. Also, the S5 doesn't have the annoying high-pitched tone when it's working ;)
