  • Fan questioning Jeff Lynne @ VH1 Storytellers taping: "... I was wondering if you might could do a couple of your old Idle Race songs?"

Jeff to fan: "Oh yeah. Sure, no problem." (audience cheers) ... "Not tonight though, 'cos we haven't practiced 'em." (punchline drum fill by Greg Bissonette, audience giggles)

  • Beautiful song and video.

  • we auta make our own utube that has no marketing:}

  • love this song so beautiful Jeff Lynne's a genius!

  • Definitely the missing movement of the concerto for a rainy day.

  • I really feel this song right now.

  • I honestly have to say, that Jeff Lynne was the best-looking one out of all the members of the Idle Race. He was absolutely adorable!

  • Thank you, Lord, and Phil & Nancy Lynne, for giving us this musical genius!

  • Great find. I am with you. Jeff Lynne lover! yes, so beautiful. He loves "rain" and "blue"!!!! Thank you Jeff Lynne forever.

  • This great album was released in November 1969 and two months later Jeff Lynne was a member of the Move. Straight action. It is said he had frustrated the lack of the commercial success. Maybe Jeff had a plan to join the Move anyway after finishing this album.

  • superb piano by jeff

  • A masterpiece! Jeff sings like an angel out of the bluel!

  • Isn't this just what Elo would sound like live, without the use of backing tracks?

  • Simply a transition from Beatles to Jeff to ELO

  • The second album of the Idle Race was a real masterpiece. It was one of the best albums in the late 1960´s without doubt.

But not underrating Birthday Party. It was also marvellous.

  • Simply wonderful!!! Beautiful song!!!

  • I made a music video for this song in Episode 1 of my show Polyester Dreams! Check it out on my channel!

  • Like all Jeff Lynne songs, this is a great one. Idle Race had several good songs.

  • Probably the one single Idle song I really love.

  • Do you have one of the best unknown pop- songs

    ever made.

I mean Knocking Nails into My House by

the Idle Race ? If you do. Please post it !

  • Really great song! Never even knew this band existed. Jeff really seemed to love writing about rain didnt he. Thanks for posting.

  • Simply wonderfull..Jeff near 67??

  • Isn't it great!? This is on the second Idle Race album in 1969, just called "The Idle Race." Get the double CD set called "Back To The Story." It has both albums with Jeff and all of their singles too.

  • Jeff will be 61 Dec.30th I believe.

  • Awesome! Never heard THIS band, I'm surprised.

  • Just gorgeous! Is that really Jeff Lynne in the flowery waistcoat sat at the piano? He looks about 15!
