  • This melody is amazing, sounds like a folk sing-a-long that has been written for hundreds of years. What a song.

  • This. Is. Amazing.

It was an extremely long 4 hours that preceded this, but it was so so worth it! And it was at the Bottom Lounge, not empty bottle.

  • also, wasn't this empty bottle....

  • makes my head stuffy. LOVE. going to try and see him. have to.

  • also, i'm pretty sure this was at the empty bottle.

  • i could have gone. i didn't. i think about it all the time. please play again, jeff.

  • This video makes me sadly, yet strangely comfortable. Just the way they chant the chorus "We will live forever and you know it's true," leaves you numb like you've accepted death and your just waiting for it to take you away. And the way Mangum sings.... He sings as if he were to die at the end of the song, like his final words. The most emotion I've ever heard put into this song. Fantastic video. My only regret is that i wasn't there to witness this live.

  • I was here... made me cry. seriously.

  • they slowly made their way out from backstage into the crowd while the rest of the E6 were up on stage finishing the song "Forever". Jeff and Julian performed this song right in the middle of the floor, with the crowd circled around them, looking inward. What a great ending to the evening.

  • I was there the day before, never heard about him being there the next day, and I just learned he was there...like, JUST NOW.

    (Starts slamming head onto table)

  • sends shivers down my back every time

  • oh my godddd.. it feels so great to see him playing something so recently and his voice is still so excellent THANK GOD!!!! he will always be this good

  • Jeff Mangum is the god

    bottom line

  • In my dreams Jeff has been recording material this whole time and one day will release it all upon us. Dreams are nice.

  • @buh2001j

he has been look up "Korena Pang"

  • @buh2001j

    Dreams are not delusions

  • God i love jeff, i wish i kould see him just once

  • Is this the only song he did that night? I heard something about Mangum doing a movie. Anybody know anything about that? How about that post on Elephant 6 website? fake or hype for a comeback?

  • He's wearing a lobster costume in a film called Major Organ and the Adding Machine :p

  • You once said you wanted to chage the world with music. You've changed mine Jeff Mangum.

  • he changed my world

  • Phenomenal....long live the King!!

  • When he did this song it made me kind of float above and out of the moment, and when everyone cheered wildly at the end it seemed too sudden and too loud and I felt almost sorry for him; I felt that Jeff mangum was a genius and shouldn't be brought down to the level of mere entertainment, that everyone should have remained silent in respect to what they had witnessed.

but that's just me and my weirdness. I was completely fucking stunned.

  • I kind of see what you mean, but when it all boils down, he's a songwriter.

  • nlebien, that's the smartest thing I've ever heard.

  • Yeah, i get what you're saying allmanvibe, it does sound pretentious, however i didn't go to the show just to see him, as im sure many people there did, so that when he played such a simple song with so much emotion in it and people went wild i felt like they were just cheering because it was him, not because it was an amazing performance... if that makes any sense at all... maybe i am just pretentious haha

  • the whole show kinda did feel like a dream especially at the end.

  • that whole show was magic.

  • I would have cried in real life if I was there. It's so good to see him again.

  • i did cry.

  • Hear how nervous the crowd sound when he steps out. Almost as though they're afraid they'll scare him away or something. That's respect.

  • Hoooly SHIT!

  • omg, does anyone have like a list of his tour dates, or was this just one of those extremely rare things that i've missed, like a lunar eclipse

  • The only thing I know is that he played Engine a couple days earlier at the Wexner Center in Columbus, OH. And it was amazing.

  • that really sucks for me, since I live right between Columbus and Chicago. He's such an amazing artist.

  • You know its true, know its true.

  • i know!!! i actually have been like...searching. fucking SEARCHING. asking around, googling, trying to find hidden messages of when his shows will be in his songs =P well, not really. but you know what i mean...

  • it is so great it seems like it could only be in a dream

  • I hope Jeff comes to Scotland one day to play, would just be awwh amazing. So jealous of all those who got to stand that close to him while he played engine.

  • Yeah, ain't gonna happen.

Although...he did wind up in New Zealand that one time....

  • Thank you. I believe you were the only one to capture and it brought wonderful tears.

  • this is... intense, for lack of a better word.

    beautiful.

  • Fucking awesome!!!

  • amazing

  • Amazing. Really haunting Circulatory System intro.

  • Thank god he played. Everyone was going nuts waiting for him to make an appearance.

  • being here was in the top 10, no, 5 best moments of my life.

  • i felt like i was going to explode. thanks for getting this on film, was too far towards the stage...what a night what a night!

  • heh, well robert schneider was there with jeff but it was some tall dude standing next to me that reached up waving and yelled "not yet!" I was not so quick on my toes

it was a really great show.. the whole thing! I'd like to see a setlist if anyone's got one. But yeah, standing a foot away from Jeff singing Engine.. that memory is a keeper.

  • that's robert schneider from apples in stereo yelling "no not yet!"..the venue had started playing music thinking the show was over.

    this ruled.

  • amazing

  • I'm crying

  • I'm kicking myself - I left about 20 minutes before he sang. At least I heard spillane and theo play 'Fool' (video forthcoming from that).

  • is this maybe the _proper_ return of Jeff Mangum?

Has anyone uploaded an MP3 of this? absolutely gorgeous.

  • i was standing right in front of him!!! my camera battery died right before he started playing, but i managed to record the audio on my phone. sooooo amazing!

  • i was there and it was so fucking beautiful.

  • i know he's done this like... five times now. but each time i see one of these performances, it feels like magic. it sends the shivers down my spine and i can't breathe.
