  • Excelent Clip based on the book and movie.

I will share here my recent version based on the movie from 2009.

    Congratulations.

    Bye!!! :-)

  • Just stopping by again. For some reason its always about this time each year.

  • I don't think I could bear to watch any other version, as this to me, cannot be bettered. I saw this when I was 9 and bawled my eyes out.

  • LOVE IT! This movie couldn't get any better

  • Just got that when Kate Bush sang 'Wthering Heights' in that white gown that she was pretending to be Cathy in the white gown at the end of the 'Wuthering Heights' film when she died. God I feel stupid.

  • laurence olivier - perfect.

  • With all your permission...I dedicate this beautiful video of yours to my beloved CORY,whom I love with all my Soul......for the eternity!

  • Love It !

  • Nothing comes close to the original THIS IS a MASTERPIECE end of story

  • this is my favourite movie of all time.

  • Fantastic song - fantastic film..!

  • A PERFECT MOVIE

  • Of all the versions of Wuthering Heights, this IMHO is still the best. Although it is not he full version, I still take this version over all the newer versions. I luv how you have put Kate Bush's song to this tribute to the movie. Thank you.

  • Awesome job! I love annoying my friends with this song- I seem to be the only person I know who enjoys listening to it. Is this Kate Bush's original or is it live?

  • Just stopping in again, thanks always makes me happy.

  • Stupendo *o*

  • Bellissimo video...

  • Love, really is Heaven and Hell. You Did an Awesome job on the editing on this Video. Couldnt be better.Thank You

  • Well, I hate this song (though I like the lyrics) but man I do ADORE seeing Olivier acting, I almost cry every time I see him working, especially as Heathcliff. Olivier is the definition of acting! And Merle Oberon, I can't believe she did not get nominated for her part as Cathy in this movie. Amazing!!!

  • Glad I'm not the only one that hates this song but ADORES this movie. Actually I think it must have something to do with Kate Brush. She sings another song I'm familar with and I don't really care for that either - so it's definitely my dislike of this particular singer. But it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it. :)

  • LOL! To be honest that is the only "Kate Bush" song I know of but I am with you on this one, totally! Her voice is truly annoying so I can't imagine it being good in any other song. This movie is timeless!!!

  • A book and movie to enjoy at every period in life ... at 16, 40, 70 years ols as well ...

In other words : a classic!

  • Holy crap.. I was off school 40 years ago and watched this film.. it made me cry and I was embarassed HAHAHA.. I love the Kate Bush tune.. probably because it reminded me of the film.. I'm watching again and it made me cry AGAIN..Damn.. it 's a very powerful film.. Great film, great song.. thanks for posting. :o)

  • I just love Merle Oberon- and Sir Laurence too! :) (Now you've made me want to go watch this one again!) lol

    Good job!

  • Just stopping in. Still my favorite video.

  • the rock at pennistone cragg where was it actually shot. the film was based on the countryside around haworth where the brontes lived. i love it there what a great day out. i taped this film 22 years ago off the telly and ive still got it.

  • Amazing, I would love to see such a place

  • I would so love to see this place. I have two awesome kids I send to private schools in America, so I can not see this place yet, one day I will, hopefully.

  • wow that is wonderful... one of my all time fave films books and song all in one ! thank you !

  • ah that was perfect, love that song, and laurence olivier...just perfect

  • Just stopping by once again. Thanks for my favorite video.

  • i dont know why but i love the clips at 0:50-0:51

Oliver's facial expressions is brilliant acting.

  • i love those clips too uhkueren but more 00:48 to 00:53 though.

  • My one dream...

  • WONDERFUL. THANK YOU.

  • LOVED IT !!!!!!!

  • Still my favorite

  • Great Video!

  • Laurence Olivier was very good looking.

One of those great brit gents!

  • What a great movie!

Laurence Olivier surely was on the best and most handsome actors ever.

  • it is a great version of this song!!! q buena version che....i like this!! heathcliff its me im catty!!!

    XDXDXDXDXD

  • Richard Armitage might be a good Heathcliff as well, don't you think?!

  • He could play it, got the right brooding looks, I haven't seen the new version of Wuthering Heights yet, have you? If so was it any good?

  • Which one? I've seen the one with Timothy Dalton (1970) recently, which was good and some years ago I've seen the Ralph Fiennes/Juliette Binoche version. But I remember that I didn't like that one, probably because I don't like Ralph Fiennes very much. Honestly I cannot remember much of it. There's an italian version which I don't know neither.

    Greetings!

  • Excellent choice!!! He might even be as good as Lawrence Olivier. And who could Kathy be played by? Angelina Jolie maybe?

  • 恋のから騒ぎwww

  • I love this song, love Kate Bush and love the book. I didn't see this movie but I know that Laurence Olivier was a great actor.

  • No one made you watch it. *sigh get a life*

  • @nemibaj I think it's a GREAT song and this is the best fan-made video for this song that I have seen. Even includes "The End" when it's over, which is a nice touch.

  • gorgeous gorgeous laurence olivier!!! luv the film, luv the song!!!!!

  • I love Lawrence's expression when he's realized Cathy has died!! So tragic and dramatic. I love it!! Hee hee! :)

  • I have always thought the same thing.

  • I love this movie and this song - the combination of the two is brilliant.

  • A beautiful video. Well done. You have captured the essence of the story so well. Laurence Olivier is simply brilliant as the brooding Heathcliff, and the beautiful Merle Oberon evokes the feelings and intensity of the story. It is never easy to accompany pictures with thought-provoking music. You have done it brilliantly. Well done!

  • Out of all the video's i watch, this is my favorite

  • Thank you :D

  • @kehardin AWESOME COMMENT

  • @LVEMEDO

Thanks so much, hope all is great.

  • @kehardin MINE TOO

  • Well I guess you would miss out on a lot then, history often has a lot to teach us, better stick to Britney then, I guess....

  • history does, but it's not always these kinds!

  • What I cannot understand is if you do not like Costume dramas as well as literature, why the heck you would come and comment on a video of that kind? *sigh* I hate anime, but I would not go and comment on a video that I do not like it, do you have too much time on your hands?

  • people have different taste. of course, while i can still type, can't i just write what i feels? maybe you really like this movie, but i saw a better version. what's wrong?

  • Why watch a video with this movie if you don't like it? Sometimes people don't like to hear about how much you hate costume dramas. It would have been nicer had you said "Oh even though I don't particularly like this movie version, you did a beautiful job on the video" That might of been a nicer thing to say...

  • IMO, it's wrong that you choose to comment negatively instead of just chalking this genre up to "not one of your favorites" and moving on. There are lots of videos on you tube i am not a fan of, so i just don't comment. I don't go out of my way to be negative about them because i hate the movie or the song. People take a good deal of time to create videos and constructive comments are welcome, as they relate to the video, not to the genre the video represents. So for me, that's what's wrong

  • one of my favorite films you can't beat the old black and white movies! I must have watched this film at least 20 times and i'm not even lying!!

  • One of my favourites too, still my favourite version of WH, I don't care if the other half of the book is missing from it lol

  • I don't care about the first half ha!

  • Yes to be honest I wasn't interested in what happened to Cathy and Heathcliff's children, it was more about them for me and Laurence Olivier made a lovely Heathcliff

  • I'm a sucker for love stories I can relate to the scene were cathy says helen I am heathcliff have you ever been at that place its scary!!

  • great video!! good job

  • I was a bit disappointed with this movie version of the book. I expected it to be great, but it was just OK for me. It's not bad as a stand-alone film, but I don't think it's a good movie adaption because IMO it doesn't capture the spirit of the book. All the lovely rough angles of the book have been softened and toned down, and that kills it for me. Heathcliff, for instance, is too nice and soft in this film. Still, I absolutely loved Laurence Olivier as Heathcliff! He's an amazing actor.

  • I agree, Heathcliff's character was toned down quite a bit. The book is always the best way to go for being genuine and original (obviously), but that totally doesn't mean the movie isn't incredible not only as entertainment but (like you said) Laurence Olivier's acting was amazing for what he set out to do. :)

  • The book is awesome!

  • Awesome! i've watched the 1992 version of it and I can't wait to watch this version. One of the most haunting love stories ever written...

  • Thank you, I agree and it still remains my favourite movie adaptation of the story :)

  • Yay! I just watched the whole movie last night and I SOBBED my eyes out... it was amazing. The book is incredible because of it's awesome depth and this version captures that depth so wonderfully! Laurence Olivier made a dashing, magnetic Heathcliff and overall it was so full of emotion! Definitely one of my favorites now!!!

  • I know! :) It is so good, I always cry at Cathy's death scene and how Heathcliff/Laurence acts, the I cannot live with out my soul scene gets me every time.

  • I totally agree. :) I'm officially infatuated. lol

  • I can't WAIT to see this! I heard it's the best version and it definitely looks that way! I'm ordering it NOW! I just finished the book and am totally mesmerized... By the way, what song is this???

  • Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush :)

  • Thanks! I put it on my ipod. lol

  • Lovely...great version of the song. I love the part where Cathy slips away in his arms-well edited to the music!

  • It's the original made in the 1930's. Sir Lawrence Olivier as Heathcliffe. Probably one of the greatest actors of his generation.

  • Maravilhoso !!!!

  • But the finest and most beautiful performance in the movie was Geraldine Fitzgerald's performance (as Cathy's sister Isabella), especially when Cathy slaps her on her face in the bedroom scene.. >> Paul Miller

  • Thanks a lot^^

  • What do you think about this movie? Is it nice? But it doesn't show the second generation, does it? It only shows the first part of the book...am I wrong? Please, help me!!

  • It is the best movie version of the story so far, but no it does not carry on to the second generation. :)

  • Oh thank you very much....:)...but if it doesn't show it, how does it show Heathcliff's death? Does he die just after Cathy in this movie?

  • You do get to see his death, sort of, it starts out that many years have passed and as you know the new tenant of the Linton's home has to stay there and heathcliff rushes out into the snow in search of Cathy's ghost, and then the housekeeper tells the story, and Dr Kenneth comes to see her at the end and tells her he saw Heathcliff in the snow, or thought he did, but he was dead, and he was with a woman, and the housekeeper tells him it was Cathy and Heathcliff.

  • Yeah it does leave out a large chunk, but thats Ok because the second generation was always the boring part anyway. lol

  • i like this song and the movie is so beautiful. i cried.

  • I cry every time I watch it too, it is the only version of WH, that has made me cry.

  • does anyone know why you can no longer download these videos using realplayer?

  • I don't know, I haven't tried it recently. Will have to see for myself.

  • Use aTube Catcher

  • Does anyone have clips from the (60s?) version with Ian Mcshane?

  • I didn't know he had done it, I would like to see that one.

  • Wow, I am so obsessed with this story.

  • great acting excellent

  • Merle Oberon is beautifull girl.

  • She was lovely :)

  • Great video choice, but intrusive soundtrack.

  • sublime!!la plus belle chanson de kate bush

  • watched the 1992 movie today. have to say i enjoyed laurence more playing heathcliffe. heathcliffe and cathy in the 1992 movie didnt convience me that they loved each other. in this movie u can see it. heathcliffe actions in this movie were more real if u can say than to 1992 heathcliife he was just a control freak (no Offence) ONCE AGAIN GREAT MOVIE. glad i brought this one. thanks for the clip

  • I agree. This black and white version is 100 times better than some of the modern adaptations. In the version with Merle Oberon and Lawrence Olivier, you feel the passion of these two lovers, and the ending cuts like a knife!

  • beautiful movie. just watched it today. cant wait to watch it again. Laurence Olivier performed a great role playing Heathcliffe. this story can be related to everyday life of this day. People do marry not for love but for material things. this movie truly shows that a life without love can only bring unhappiness to all involved. great movie

  • Thanks for Watching, I still think this is the best version of Wuthering Heights made so far. :)

  • Thanks so much for this video. I watch it all the time.

  • Glad I am not the only one. I know I have watched it from 30 times.

  • I watch this one again and again. Now i know - Sir Laurence is the best HeathCliff ever/

    Love it very very much

  • Thanks and yes he is :D

  • I know I have watched this at least 30 times.

    so beautiful. My favorite story.

  • Oh!! Very romantic and beatiful movie//I'm crying

  • Even with only half the story there, it is still my favourite version that has ever been made :)

  • Thank you for this one. No remakes, no amount of talent can equal this wonderful and priceless treasure from 1939. I try to see it whenever it is aired.

  • LO's speech at her death bed has yet to be rivalled in any other version IMO, it makes me cry every time.

  • such a beatiful film

  • I agree, it is still my favourite version of Wuthering Heights.

  • I love the book and this film is perfect. Olivier is the king, baby.

  • Won't disagree with you there :D I have plans for an Olivier tribute video soon.

  • Looking forward to seeing that video then!

I'm also a Kate Bush admirer.

    :)

  • lovely film lawrence olivier is superb ....

  • Thanks, yes I really admire him, he is my favourite silver screen actor. :D

  • Dalton is in no way a better actor than Olivier

  • agreed! I adore Laurence Olivier, especially in this movie.

  • Perfect.

The movie, by the way, is in the public domain now. One can make as many copies as one likes and distribute them freely.

  • Great new! Do you Know how to make it? I love this film. in my country there is no videoclub to rent it or buyit. TKS

  • The entire movie seems to be here on youtube broken up into 11 or 12 parts. Just do a search for Wuthering Heights part 1 etc.

  • Tks., I've already seem it.

  • to victoria rose:

  • Thank you :)

  • Love this movie. Actually Sir Laurence & Merle did not get along on the set, perhaps it helped make the movie better? David Niven was to marry her, but she was part Indian & back then that was a no no.

  • Yes I too heard that, I also heard that Laurence was a bit resentful of her as he had wanted Vivian Leigh to play Cathy, so that didn't exactly help on set relations, but they had a great chemistry because of it. :D

  • Thanks a lot since I'm now sitting here crying!! Loved it!

  • thank you and sorry about the crying :P

  • Sounds like a live rendition of the song?...Either way, lovely interpretation--My favorite version of the film; Nice!

    That ball-room scene; Classic!!!!

  • I love the ballroom scene, and I think this is a later version of the song from what other people have told me and that is why KB sounds a bit different. I am not an expert enough to tell, lol.

  • TMC aired this last week, right after "Gone with the Wind"; Again, great job, and thanks!

  • my fav book and female singer! 5 stars and favorited

  • Thank you, :)

  • One of my favourite films with one of my favourite actors!

  • I agree, Laurence was indeed divine. :)

  • se ve bien, aunque no parece ambientada en el siglo XIX

  • good job!

  • The greatest actor ever!Think about it for a moment. Who could possibly surpass him.Without doubt the master actor.

  • I agree, he is my favourite actor of the silver screen. :D

  • yup!! wayyy handsome too <3
