That's not accurate. In the first Rock in Rio, along with the likes of Ozzy, AC/DC and Queen, the festival had The B-52's and James Taylor, not to mention Ney Matogrosso and Kid Abelha. The second one got Guns N' Roses and Faith No More, but also Debbie Gibson and NKOTB. The third one got Iron Maiden and Sepultura, but also Britney Spears and N'SYNC. And the last one got Metallica but also Katy Perry. Rock in Rio, despite the name, has always celebrated MUSIC.
Especially when she says "Something is there. And It was the end of the era of simple pop ballads that gave way to the technically perfect vocal stylings of the "Divas"
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever... I was there and 19 years later I still can't understand why Debby did not succeed as I thought she would, when I first saw her in this concert.
I still have the VHS tape, lol. She has such a wonderful voice and she is so cute singing. Just perfect!
@wzfqn3 She did succeed, IMO. Not many people can say they've had a big success in both music and Broadway. But why she couldn't maintain her popularity? I blame it partially on the wave of grunge and gangsta-rap. And It was the end of the era of simple pop ballads that gave way to the technically perfect vocal stylings of the "Divas" in Mariah/Whitney/Celine. Suddently, there was no more room for wholesomely great pop acts like Gibson, Wilson Philips, Amy Grant, etc...
Still good though I can watch this over and over again and wont get bored. Especially when she says "Something is there We can't deny" or "I'll be found When I'm lost in your eyes". Very powerful lyrics...
It's amazing.
