  • thumps up if the uploader comments are epic as hell

  • What bass is this?

  • Rob IS a great bass player. He just needs to lose those basketball jerseys. Oh well, I guess it's not gonna happen.

  • hey people i saw a pic with jason playing inside a cage....could u plzzzzzz tell me what concert that's from!!!!! plzzzz

  • jason is my favourite.. true that probably rob trujillo is a more talented bassist but jason fit metallica better his style of badass attitude and playing is more in sync with the rest of metallica than robs groovy beats.. but still metallica rules

  • no one will deny that Jason is a good bass player, but for a musican there is a easy way to compare to guys who play the same Instument: technical skills!

In my opinion Rob has more technical skills on his Instrument. I like them both, but i think Rob is more talented, he can do things on his bass that Jason can't do

  • @theoldestevil well it's not really what can do, it's what he likes to do because he can probably do all the stuff that Rob does but he chooses not too because he may not like that as much

  • Comment removed

  • @zombislayerpwnsnoobs hahaha xD but put urself in his place, but yeah, kirk is always the middle inocent guy where no1 can say crap about, hes nice :D

  • Jason>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Rob

  • still a great audio...Thumbs up!

  • ironclaw666 is right i feel lk tht is y he left th band cuz th hazing after cliff's death

  • Sometimes is ask myself ... why can't i f*ck music?

  • Reading the comments down here, I just your all fucking idiots tbh, just ripping on Jason because he isn't Cliff? I mean come on, not fucking talented? Fuck off, yeah Cliff was great and all, but he's dead now. People bumming off him constantly and comparing him to Jason and Rob is fucking stupid, seriously, deal with it Cliff is dead and nothing will change that. Now shut the fuck up and watch, Jason was fucking great, this video proves it.

  • @Ironclaw666 say that to James once on his face.. i dare you -_-

  • @develia I speak only the truth mate.

  • @Ironclaw666 Finally someone who doesn't bitch about Cliff's death. Fuckin' thumbs up for you mate

  • @LayinTheSmackDown7 It's true mate, people tarnish Cliff's name constantly, I have merely said that people need to stop comparing him to the current bassists, it's pointless, besides Cliff is dead and nothing will never change that, they need to look to the future not to the past!

  • look i know jason wasnt better than rob or cliff. he used pick yes. he wasnt that talented i know. but fuck man he was still awesome. he was like a werewolf when he was singing. he had some unique energy and he was doing all he got for metallica and fans. i love jason. i love rob and i adore cliff.

  • @HaasarYeehit Not talented wtf? you don't have to play fast 2 be good... that guy is one of the best... dude , he played with 'tallica!

  • @Zoundmasta97 if someone played in metallica of course he's got some talent but jason's talent cannot to be compared by cliff or rob. as i said i still think he's great..

  • fuck man, give jason a break....he was trying hard, I don`t get why most of u hate him ...

  • @TheVideoGameMan2 He would be the best if he was alive -.-

  • @martinluvsdays He is still the best! Hendrix is dead too and is the best guitarist!

  • @martinluvsdays Thank you for clearing that up for some of these youngesters

  • @TheVideoGameMan2 But now cliff has been gone for how many years.... RIP......you must accept Jason as the best ever replacement for 'Tallica, Rob is the one you should f**k

  • @TheVideoGameMan2 if you have to comment some bs comments about jason then comment it to les claypools fan site..but not in these videos where jasons plays one hes best bass solos

  • @TheVideoGameMan2 jason can play circles around u bro

  • @TheVideoGameMan2 I prefer Jason over Cliff... Jason was just underrated as a musician.

  • @TheVideoGameMan2 fucking ignorant piece of shit, jason is amazing, why dont you go out and make music with metallica for 15 years and then comment you fucking no life loser

  • does anyone know what kind of bass jason is holding in that picture?

  • @Untouchable787 Some 5 string idk haha, i only play a 4 string bass

  • @Untouchable787 It's a Sadowsky NYC "Vintage" 5-string.

  • the my friend of misery beginning is so much like pulling teeth

  • THIS IS A VIDEO SITE DUMBASS!

  • @tnsniper333 Go fuck yourself.

  • @martinluvsdays hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @martinluvsdays man wtf jason newsted is my favourite but if you do not like him dont fucking watch this then

  • @napalmdeath1999 What are you talking about, I fucking uploaded this video. If I didn't like him then surely I wouldn't have uploaded it and let you watch it.

  • @martinluvsdays dont be vulgar ...

  • @napalmdeath1999 just shut the fuck up and watch !!!!

  • @napalmdeath1999 You're an idiot.

  • what bass is that exactly?

  • @Someguitarplayer1 Sadowsky

  • Su ultimo disco bueno fue el and justice for all... están mas que acabados

  • Jason is the best back vocalist that Metallica have ever been, he is just the best...

  • just saying but if ur not putting the vid can u just cut to the solo instead of boring me then making me die of shock?

  • is jason a virtuoso bassist? no. does he have the technical ability of cliff or rob? no. but you can tell that his heart and soul can be heard in everything he plays, and "my friend of misery" is a riff that reveals this and is uniquely his. and he definitely was influenced by cliff cause the riff is somewhat similar to the first riff of anesthesia.

  • @jem919 two thumbs up, man.

  • Comment removed

  • i prefer cliff

  • Orion!!! That's different from all the other solos I've heard by Jason!

  • SIMPAYE

  • WHAT KIND OF BASS IS THAT..... i'm in fucking love!

  • @AwakenedTheBand ..5-string Fender Jazz, all black hardware and tuners. Not sure about the electronics, but they might be active (noted by the extra knobs/pots). I can't tell if the neck is Fender or not. Could be a lot of different basses from the actual song, but the picture is a Fender Jazz, or at least a Fender Jazz style. He played/plays with a lot of them.

  • @ShotGunRoleModel

    It's a Sadowsky, not a Fender. Check the headstock's shape. ;)

  • @Morgoth51 Hence why I said Fender Jazz style. The headstocks definitely not Fender, Jason's known for playing maybe Fender Jazz/Jazz styled basses, as said. I'll have to check out those Sadowsky guitars. Forgot all about them.

  • @ShotGunRoleModel its a sadowsky

  • @AwakenedTheBand

    Sadowsky.

  • Rob and Cliff are more skilled for sure

  • HAHAHAHAH every vid about this shows fanboywars..

Grow up and live with each other, everybody has different opinions, respect it.

  • Is this the one from kill em all

  • @ecw416 no

  • @ecw416 My Friend Of Misery by The Black Album.

  • JASON NEWSTEAD WAS HEAVY AS FUCK.

    JASON NEWSTEAD WAS METALLICA.

    \m/

  • @jojamero your a joke... Just listen to the music and enjoy Metallica... 3 bass players and three diff styles.... Let me guess though..... you play bass and with a pick!

  • @spectorlegend77 shut up. you are just a spectator. Jason Newstead should shit on your face.

  • @jojamero ya so i who was jason newsted ? lol newstead must be some new shit

  • Robert is seriously not a Bassist to pick on. Who ever hates on him clearly doesnt know that he is one of the best things that happened to metallica next to bob rock.

Jasonw as cool, but he had to go. So did Dave.

    rip cliff.

to the vid: I love it. need I say more? all 3 were great. all 3 had/have their time in the greatest and most versatile metal band ever.

cheers metallica, cheers jason, cheers rob and cheers cliff...you all rock(ed)...

except dave, he's a loser ;)...a skilled loser

  • Cliff >Jason>Rob... ROB SUCKS

  • rob is a bamf lol but cliff is a legend and jason is right in between

  • i believe that jason out of all bassists Metallica had, was the best... not in skills, but he was great... i mean yea he was a good bassist. ... but his backing vocals were fucken brutal!! just what the band needed.... ..... but ROB still Rocks!!!!!!!

  • Cliff was the best and nothing else matters

  • All three are equal Bass Players in there Skill, But in terms of showmanship, Not sure if i have the correct word but im gonna roll with it....

Jason is the best showman in my opinion simply because He was more involved and His backing Vocals where Killer, By saying this i am not dissin Cliff, Very Few people got a chance too see him Live in comparison too The other Two Fella's

And Rob..Well..He's just Rob Do no Wrong Do no Right, He play's it well so no complants...

    Long Live Metallica \m/

  • omg guys im extremely tired.... let me sit down and play while you guys be one of the most hardcore bands alive and play this concert

  • whos their bassist now?

  • @punk3r7

oh my god,in what kind of world are you living?????????

    ex suicidal tendencies....roberto trujillo!!!

  • @Therealguy78666im not a fan of metallica lol

  • @punk3r7

    robert trujillo

  • @punk3r7 Lars plays drums and bass now.

  • @mijonja haha are you joking?? Why would Lars play drums and bass? Robert Trujillo is the bass player, even though i don't like him very much..

  • @yuvalarbel1 Yes, I was joking. -.-

  • Goddamn that's a sweet jazz bass!

  • whats that song called when the guitar comes in too cuz i need the tab really bad.

  • @mjk11outdoors orion, its on master of puppets

  • @mjk11outdoors the part where the guitar comes in is from the solo section of the song orion from master of puppets....im quite shocked that you wouldnt know that...do you even like metal lol j/k

  • i prefer rob myself

  • metallica isnt broken up theyve been around for 20 years they got tired

  • you know whats funny jason newstead left metallica because of echobrain & they are now broken up how funny

  • @Jordo1900 ok dumbass how is metallica broken up if they are on tour and have a new cd out hmmm? they got robert trujillo ozzy's old bassist so yeah if ur gunna post shit get the right info

  • @xXgkhnarbXx no i meant echobrain are broken up Im going to a metallica concert in a few weeks so i know they're not broken up

  • @xXgkhnarbXx suicidal tendencies old bassist...if you are gonna say what bands they were in before at least name good bands

  • @Jordo1900 whats funny is you ...jason left metallica to pursue his other musical interests because metallica felt that if you were in metallica you couldnt do anything but metallica....lets say you work at a guitar store and you love fender but the stor only sells gibson so they tell you that you cant even play your fender at home...are you gonna stay at that job?

  • ill bet u don't have the balls 2 say that 2 Jason's face don't dis my 3rd cousin

  • Metallica has gone down hill after Jason left, just a matter of fact. Years from now, people will look back to Metallica's glory years, and remember James, Kirk, Lars, and Jason.

  • @jj3205 More like Metallica has been going down hill since Cliff died, People will remember Metallica in there glory days when it was James, Dave/Kirk, Cliff, and Lars!

  • @hellhammmer666 Your a joke, Metallica has gone down since Cliff died? The Black Album was their highest selling and most popular album, and Newsted played on it not Cliff. You dont know what your talking about.

  • @jj3205 I do know what I am talking about KEA and Ride where the best thrash albums ever! The Black album was pure shit bob rock fucked Metallica! You are a poser if you think the black album is one of there best albums ask any REAL thrash fan and they will tell you that.....FAG! THE BLACK ALBUM WAS HORRIBLE METALLICA HAS BEEN A SINKING SHIP EVER SINCE!

  • @hellhammmer666 You just showed how dumb you really are. You say the Black Album was garbage, yet it was their HIGHEST SELLING ALBUM! Please explain how that was their downfall when it sold the most albums?

  • @jj3205 OK DUDE, THEY DID GAIN ALOT OF MONEY AND FAME FROM THE BLACK ALBUM BUT THEY LOST ONE THING THERE HARDCORE THRASHER FANS WHICH WOULD BE A DOWNFALL IN MY OPINION! THEY WENT FROM A BAND THAT MADE THE SICKEST THRASH ALBUMS OF ALL TIME TO A BAND THAT MADE POP MUSIC! YOU MAY LIKE MAINSTREAM MUSIC BUT ME I LIKE THRASH! ITS WHAT SEPARATES THE MEN FROM THE BOYS!

  • @hellhammmer666 Yeah but they still play their old shit at their concerts. Its not like they dont play them anymore. Their music has gone down as of late, but I was at Cincinnati and 3/4 of what they played was their old shit.

  • @jj3205 IDK James vocals just sound horrible now and Robert Trujillo does not belong in Metallica he belongs back in suicidal tendencies, and Lars after his whole Napster ordeal I just don't like new Metallica at all! Agree to disagree.

  • @hellhammmer666 Get over urself u close minded fuck

  • @jj3205 Because there music was swaying more mainstream and that means a larger audience of people will like there music. That doesnt mean that the music is better than there thrash stuff.

  • You obviously have no idea whatsoever of what you're talking about, you just THINK you know...

  • metallica rock and always will. :)

  • funnt seeing here people STILL complaining about who is the best. whell their solos was most show in my opinion. and jason was the best shower if you ask me. though jason the best. of music skill i would say rob.

  • -.-

  • yeah if its bull shit how come no one cares about metallica now after jason left u know why because tere not the same great band when jason was with them,

  • dude u are clearly retarded.... on my opinion and i think many people will agree with me is that jason is shit compared to cliff or rob and they are still an awesome band

  • No, we won't agree with you. He might not have been their strongest bassist, but he was still an excellent one, and had one of the best stage presences Heavy Metal has ever seen.

  • just said that you wont agree with me but your are saying he is not their strongest bassist........... and compare the music made with jason from the one they did with cliff which was metallicas best years even though they were very few

  • Yeah, I said I won't agree with you. You said Jason is shit. He's clearly not, and although he's not necessarily as skilled as Cliff or Rob, he's still nowhere NEAR shit. The man's a God on bass, he's just not quite as godly as Cliff or Rob. Understand it that time?

I've compared the music. Keep in mind who wrote the music. It wasn't Jason.

  • Yes. Still they made way better music with Cliff and lets see what rob can do St. anger was beast didnt like death magnetic that much though

  • I think all credibility just flew out the window when you said, "St. Anger was beast"... Death Magnetic was their return to their roots, and you said the trash album St. Anger was beast? Rob wasn't even in the band for St. Anger.

  • @Machx72 rob was in the bad for st anger just to let you kno watch the documentary some kind of monster or just watch any video from that album

  • @xXgkhnarbXx I own that DVD, and no, he wasn't. He was only in the videos. Bob Rock recorded the bass for St. Anger.

  • I am sick and tired of hearing people say Death Magnetic was a return to their roots. There is no returning to their roots for Metallica. I'm not saying it wasn't a good album, but it was certainly not the caliber of Kill Em All through And Justice. The emotion that fueled their work back then disappeared with age and it ain't coming back.

  • @Pumablues2525 Whether you like it or not, it was most certainly a return to their roots- A return to thrash. Sure, it didn't have the emotion that their older albums had, but they're not a group of pissed off teenagers anymore. Nobody's saying that emotion or fire came back, just that the album is more apt to be what picked up where ...AJFA left off, instead of the Black Album. Their roots were thrash. They went back to it after an 18-year departure.

  • @Machx72 st. anger is still better than death magnetic ,load, and reloard

  • @StrongestGod Are you out of your fucking mind? St. Anger was a huge disaster, on all instruments and in all aspects. Why do you think they rarely play songs from that album live?

  • @Machx72 its still better than fuckin death megnetic and reload and load thats a huge fact

  • @StrongestGod That's not a fact at all. You, sir, are a fucking moron, especially if you actually believe that St. Anger was above any of those albums, and that it's a "fact". St. Anger has been panned time and time again not only by critics, but die-hard Metallica fans who actually know what they're talking about (aka me, not you). All I can tell from this is that, as bad as St. Anger is, St. Anger > Your I.Q.

  • @Machx72 im not a die hard metallica?haha i have been to metaliica concerts since dave mustaine was in metallica and actually st.anger is a good album but not there best but your too ignorant to listen to it a couple of times to realize that so i guess i should sell all 257 metallica shirts i own?O yea didnt think so. go fuck yoursel

  • @StrongestGod You probably should, yeah. And if you're old enough to have gone to Metallica concerts since the beginning of the '80s, why haven't you been to an English class or two? I'm not too ignorant to listen to St. Anger. I did listen, and every song was borderline unbearable to listen to. How can you say that about three albums that were CLEARLY more musically sound, produced better, and overall written much more intelligently? Didn't think you could. YOU need to fuck YOURSELF.

  • @StrongestGod St Anger is by far the worst album from Metallica, even Load and Reload sounds more like Metallica,... that piece of crap is the worst mistake from this band. But then, at least, they did Death Magnetic that is something close to black album... hopefully.

  • @alvarokas fuck you! St. Anger is one of my favorite metallica albums! WTF!?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • @whatthebollocks it's ok kid, i'm sorry for you :D

  • @alvarokas Can i just say something that i think, is bullshit? Why are u sorry for me? because i love one of metallica's most unliked albums and am not afraid to show it? ur gay!

  • @whatthebollocks i've told you my opinion, if you don't like it, get drown, little boy. And please, i'm not interested in faggots, so don't insist.

  • @alvarokas no no no child, i've seen your gayass channel with your fucking stupid bullshit death metal poser shit! SHIT! this is as close as you'll ever experience to great music

  • @whatthebollocks i'm sure i've experience much more than you, pretty sure,... and you say poser shit playing Slipknot songs... ok, you're quite clever. Please, don't bother to response.

  • @alvarokas slipknot isn't death metal, yea sure they have a couple songs that are pretty metal but their older stuff ins't as metal as they are now.

  • You're obviusly NOT into Metallica that much are you? Why didn't Jason wrote the music? Because Metallica didn't LET him to! This man can do so much more than we have seen. This solo proves.

  • I'm a DIE hard Metallica fan, actually. Thanks for the assumption, though. And in case you didn't notice, I was using the fact that Jason didn't write of Metallica's music while he was with them (whereas Cliff actually did) to credit Jason. Jason's first written song is one of their strongest post-Cliff- Blackened. I'm well aware they didn't let him, and I'm saying that was Metallica's problem, because he could have helped them A LOT.

Read my comments before you criticize.

  • artorak thats bull shit because if he fits he would stay

  • hell no jason was the best bass for metallica he fit perfectly, but rob doesnt fit at all

  • Listen to his bass tracks and you'll see why Rob's a PERFECT fit.

  • @Machx72 : true....esp to all his covers onstage f metallica itself...!!

  • Guys, PLEASE STOP trying to know who is or was the best bass player in metallica...

Cliff, Jason AND Rob are and were 3 great bass players, no one is better than the others, they're just playing different styles...

  • @DevilStrikeOfiicial Indeed. You can't really compare any bassist to another. They all are unique in there own way.

  • @DevilStrikeOfiicial Jason and Rob cant touch Cliff Burton. Cliff could of been the greatest bass player of all time if he didnt die.

  • @creed200569 EVERYONE KNOWS THAT ROB IS CLIFF'S REINCARNATION.

  • @gamer3425 that's the stupidest comment I've seen all day.

  • @illmatic702 XD YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE!

  • @creed200569 None would ever talk about Cliff if he didnt die.

  • @abbelovesicecream LMAO. Cliff was a legend.

  • @abbelovesicecream : nobody will talk bout u even if u die... u know dat...!!

learn to respect... Cliff was a wonder... he showd hw to play bass in metal... he altogether redefined bass playing in metal... used processors nd effects wid bass nd used to play solos whic no other bass player had done...!!

do u e1 knw nethng bout bass u mf...!!

  • @Tanmay6366

    Stop licking someones dead ass.

Cliff was great but there were already other great metal bassist before him like: Butler, Steve Harris, Lemmy. And you are wrong Cliff was not the first who used these bass effects and distortions. Billy Shehan and Lemmy were already doing this before him.

  • @Chester1004 He perfected it and used it the best, made the most out of what he had.

  • @Tanmay6366

lol, shut up. The effects are just annoying, and he always had to much dist on his bass.

He was a really good bassplayer, but nothing super special.

You probably think he's the best bassist ever.. lol.

  • @creed200569 could have not could of, good god!!

  • @creed200569

You cant really compare what dead ppl COULD have been, and what alive ppl have achieved...

Cliff was gr8, Jason is gr8 and Robert is gr8.......nuff said

  • @creed200569 victor wooten?

  • @DevilStrikeOfiicial THANK YOU! so true. i saw this comment and it makes perfect sense and its so true. its about how one bass player was good for a certain thing in their playing:

    "Cliff:solos

    Jason:backup vocals

    Rob: finger playing/speed

  • @fritosofdoritos : a bass player has to play bass... jason was no where around dem in terms of bass playing... as u jst said... cliff knwn for his solos... nd robs solos are so fuckking hott.... + ofcourse his finger playing speed... but wutt was good wid jason wrt bass...??

  • @DevilStrikeOfiicial no rob and jason were great CLIFF WAS THE GOD

  • @DevilStrikeOfiicial lol....everyone forgets ron McGovney

  • @TheDistortionBassist ya but he didn't do much

  • @schneibgamer1 Pfft, yeah except get electricuted by that crackhead mustain

  • @TheDistortionBassist

Thats because most of these posers on youtube were born in the 90s

  • @TheDistortionBassist That's cause it was a long time ago. And he didn't become famous with them. His importance was in driving them around in a van.

  • @TheDistortionBassist the problem is, when they first started practising they started practising in this guy's house .. xD

  • @TheDistortionBassist

i dont wanna put him out of the list but he didnt really do much.. much less than mustaine

  • @TheDistortionBassist Theres not much to remember, he didnt play on one studio album. all he did was play in a demo
