There are actually two performers here..........Janine and a beautiful sounding 1727 "Barre" Strad!..........played exactly as Antonio intended! Doesn't get much better!
omg... it's so stunning...amazing...wonderful... but she could hold the violin a bit higher, she can get serious problems with her back if she continues holding it like this!
Great performance but for me Sarah Chang's Bruch Violin concerto is the best version, all a matter of personal taste. I know I am in a minority but I far prefer the modern Artist's like Chang, Jansen etc compared to Heifetz , to me his music is very cold, emotionless and often played too fast
Yes I agree with you, I also like Sarahs version best but this is very good as well and yes I also think the modern violinist's are far better than the older ones, after all Sarah played the Tchaikovsky violin concerto wonderfully at only 11 years old and when it was first composed the violinist's of the day said it would be far too hard to play at all !!
seek advice from fellow violinists: I am currently a freshman in college, seeking a music education degree, but I need some advice from fellow violinists as how to improve technique for a certain bad habit I have. My professor has told me that my main problem when performing is that my left hand is too tense. That is why I'm a little flat when shifting back down from 5th, and 7th to 1st, and why my runs aren't very clean. Any advice as to what I can do??? She gave me some excercises to practice,
but what if I notice that I'm still kind of tense while playing those? I'm just looking for anything and everything I can do to improve my technique and break this bad habit. I have been practicing every day this summer for at least 3 hours (can do more if I should) but anyway... Advice??
@artlvr16 I studied with David Cerone at Meadowmount in1977. He required his students to read a book called The Inner Game of Tennis by W. Timothy Gallwey. I believe tension is mostly due to a lack of confidence. This book helped me a lot.
@artlvr16 I have had the same problem before. Sometimes trying a different shoulder rest(if you use one) could fix the problem. Also it might be the angle at which you hold your violin. Make sure you have good posture while playing. Do you clamp your chin down on your chin rest while you play? This could cause tension throughout the left arm and shoulder. Your chin should be just resting on the chin rest. Make sure you aren't squeezing the violin between your shoulder and chin. Always relax.
@lorditachijr Hi, I was just reading through some of the comments on this page and I have the same problem of tension... I know that I need to relax the tension between my chin rest and my chin but if I do that sometimes the violin moves around a little bit on me. What should I do?
@amdreamdan Well it's not truly a bad thing that your violin moves around a bit! It shouldn't stay in the exact same position all the time. Try letting it move and see if you can control it that way. If you can, it will really relax your playing and help you to focus. Also if the problem really persists you might just have a neck too long for your chin rest/shoulder rest combination. Then you can buy a raised chin rest or a shoulder rest that caters to longer necks.
@amdreamdan i used to have that problem. it's all about figuring out the posture and position of the shoulder rest that works best for you. When you put your neck /chin on the violin, pretend that you are resting your head on it, like lying on a pillow. Lean your neck to the side and into it, never allow yourself to fall down (like don't cave your body in). If your upright and lean on the violin this way, it stays in place, and you are totally relaxed.
but i think above the technique is the music principally .. and she is unique in that situation .. just listen her passionate , intense sound and interpretation in general.just listen her soul ... i can forget her rare posture and position inmediately .. ..
There's absolutely nothing like gorgeous music and beautiful scenery! It doesn't get any better than this folks. This is the best Brooch Iv'e ever heard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
outstanding performance by this fair lady, the legatto, and vibrato of this piece demands the best efford of a violinist, is clear she has managed to play this piece with flawless technique and great expression,..........5 stars.

I think it is a good thing that there are plenty of pauses for the soloist in this concerto... or she would not have the chance to remove the horse hair that snapped... hehe
More than passion is musical intelligence, enthusiasm and brain. I have others interpretations of Bruch's concerto but this one has set a new standard.
This version is shockingly amazing. I honestly don't think I've ever heard a version of Bruch's G played this way. I think I dig it. She's a fucking stud in this performance.
@Repulver I agree! If she is able to transmit that kind of emotion in her interpretations in YouTube, then What can one expect of a live performance. She is one of a kind, a new kind of interpreter that was lacking in this century, Wellcome. And yes, she is so beautiful and talented. That's the difference of what produces Europe and USA, in cultural terms.
She rivals all the great masters! That is a great feat at such a young age. truly gifted. :D
I will be playing this concerto for my last HS concert. I won't play nearly as well as she did lol, but it will still be epic. Bruch was a true genius when it came to his music.
Certified Intergalactic! The best performance of Bruch Violin Concerto! Amazing dynamics! Janine Jansen has joined the ranks of legendary female violinists in the likes of Ginette Neveu.
