I highly respect the director; he introduced many unprecedented scary scenes in horror movies that it seems to me have been copied in many other asian movies later on. I also agree that he cut that scene before the hand scene; the effect is tremendously scary.

It's kind of hard to see, but pause right when you see the reflection of the glass door. You'll see Rika and the guy in the wheelchair. Right on the side, Toshio is there.
