she had a rly great pressure on herself and shes admitted that she didnt do a great job controlling it back then right after she set another world record that wowed people in Short Program. But with this experience behind, what's important right now is the fact that shes the gold medalist in women's figure skating in 2010 Olympics! She RULES
Why stupid S. Korea? Is it because they crushed you Japs over figure skating and the rest of Vancouver Olympic games while you had uh uh uh No Freaking gold medals????
If she had to mess up, glad it was during pre-Olympic competition. I think that this may have been a learning experience for her that will surely serve her well in the long run. Hope she skates well in Vancouver!
Michelle Kwan's impact on the sport of figure skating has been larger than any of the last three women's Olympic women's gold medalists combined -not only because of what she accomplished in the sport- but because of what she gave back.

You know..it makes me sick and disgusted that some people think of kwan as the 'face of figure skating' and forget that Sarah and Tara brought the Gold home for the USA..that would be the Olympic Gold. Lots of people have their face all over..and kwan do love them cameras but for God's sake she hung around forever trying to win OG. Sarah and Tara did it the first time! Sasha beat her in SLC but kwan couldn't leave with nada. Her best was not good enough for Olympic Gold. Go USA in 2010!!!!!
I'm sorry but I have to disagree; I really respect Michelle Kwan. I think she has a lot of tenacity to keep on coming back and to keep on doing as well as she did. Sarah and Tara came, shone for that one moment in the Olympics and then they vanished. I actually saw Sarah skate the year after she won and was very disappointed. She could barely get off the ice. Michelle 'hung around forever' but she hung around for a reason; she was artistic, and most of the time, she had strong technique.
well, whatever you want to say about michelle, she WAS the face of skating for a very long time. frankly, tara and sarah probably just didn't stay in the sport long enough. olympic gold or not, we're hard-pressed to find too many people in the entire world who don't know who michelle is. (can you say the same about sarah?) so as far as the "face" of the sport, michelle was, yes. it's just kind of a fact. she had international recognition - and external marketability - beyond any other skater
Close to Michelle Kwan in extension and elegance of line - thanks whoever posted this. Anybody have video of last week's 2010 National Championships? The men's was amazing, but I missed the ladies and couples.
yeah well this program was really bad. i think she is getting over confident. she is the Fav for the olympics but someone might pull it off if she skates like this.
Every skater is bound to make mistakes ar some point in her career, no matter how skillful she is. Michelle Kwan kept on winning world titles back to back but she also had her rough seasons, most notably at the 2002 Olympics. Sarah Hughes, the 2002 Olympic champion, busted her ass at Worlds right after she won the Olympics. So everyone, just give Yuna time to polish her programs. It's still early in the season. I'm confident that once she enters Olympic ice, she'll be more dazzling than ever. :)
just wasnt on top of her game that night. its ok. better to get it out here than at olympics right? wish yuna kim and mao asada the best at the olympics.
Since, yuna has to skate last she gets more nervous while she waits for her turn watching others go before her, maybe she should just plug her ear with an ipod and listen to fun music and tune out what goes around her until her turn. Don't focus too much on others but just focus on her and don't be pressured. Now is the time to let her inner strength to come out. Go Yuna! You are the best!!!
Yu na better not make the Mao mistake and get indulged by the media, the press will kill her with pressure. She is gorgeous but Mao is a cautionary tale
Good grief. This is still a very elegant program even with the mistakes. It's still early in the season Yuna. U can perfect your programs in time for the Olympics.

Sadly, I think this is what will happen at the Olympics. Mao gold, Roche -silver, Yuna bronze.

No way, I think it will be Yuna gold then Joanie then Mao

Dont hate me, but looking at this latest appearance of her performace, i say it does not bode very well for her in the winter olympic.
I wonder why she chose not to compete in 2010 4cc.

I think it's a lot better for her to make these kind of mistakes than in the Olympics. Move on Yuna. The Olympic gold is just a few days away. ^^

she's skating a bit slower this program ... i think that's why her jumps aren't as high. still a great skater though

And, I think Yu Na Kim is simply brilliant.
