Vocal Range - Tarja Turunen (F3 - Ab6)

Nice video, but one thing that I don't agree is the 'belted notes thing'. Tarja just doesn't 'belt' anything at all, even on her mid notes she uses only head voice, even when she tries a more 'popular' way of singing. Belting is not only a technique but also a register that she doesn't use. Apart of that, nice video, good selection of songs :)

In the Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean there is a B6 but I am not sure if that is Tarja or even a vocal note. It's just a pierce screaming. In the live recording I do not know if that is Tarja. What a shame.

It's a G7 and I also heard her singing it live one time.

Such note is an unusual feat and a strain for her. The highest notes she sings without straining are nowadays E6 and F6 which are above her voice classification anyway.

who the fuck cares about the range of each singer??the only thing that matters is the feeling while they sing , there are many singers with wide range but they cannot sing with emotion , so it's useless !!!

I do think feeling is very important.... But when you analize the range of each singer, you learn about voice tecnique and more important, you are able to see how much the singer has trained and dedicated time improving her or his voice to us, listeners, enjoy more the music; The tecnique is important, otherwise, anyone that can 'feel' would sing like great singers, which tecnique was improved for years, which, you say is useless. Range is important because show the tecnq

rsrsrsrsrs boa... Deu um trabalhim pra fazer... Como eu falo na descrição, Soprano Lírico Spinto, opinião minha. Ela é uma soprano dramático evoluída, pra vc ter uma ideia, ela aos 17 já dava aula de canto... Ela é uma soprano com uma voz incrivelmente encorpada e com um timbre bem escuro...(Y)

tarja has barely sang notes on the 6th octave, the Ab6 is not real or just autotuned for the effect. She has never gone higher than the F6

@NiksaNym Finally, a person who has enough ear to know that it's a vocal effect haha xD Tarka is considered a godess but, well, in this wolrd of sopranos in symphonic metal, she is not the best by far, when she as in nightwish, in wishmaster/century child tour, she had THE PERFECT VOICE!!, but then, she was making mistakes, and she actually keep doing those mistakes, as nasal sounds for example or her vibrato, she also said that she has problems with it :S

anyway, Tarja's still a good singer =)

the slide is NOT up to Ab6, the slide goes C4 to C6 and then she briefly hits a F6. I'm sorry to break it, but tarja doesnt go above F6

Do you have any instrument at home? piano or any instrument that has G#6, if you do, take it, play an Ab6 and listen, then listen the note, is an Ab6 in the end, very clear.... :)

I love that most of the song that you picked are from My Winter Storm and What Lies Beneath I love this albums even more than her job with Nightwish because now she sings with more spirit and she can do wherever she wants with her songs. I love Minor Heaven and Naiad!!!

Yes... This is a good thing.... Over the careers the singers get their range better, the voice can go lower and/or higher than the start... That means basicly that her voice got better and her range raised.... (Y) :)
