It would appear that they are subject to different governing rules, meaning Jesus probably did not die for any inherent sin. I don't understand how that would impact religion in anyway whatsoever. I know it sure wouldn't for me. As a Christian, I believe that God would not have told us about life anywhere else besides Earth because we are on a need to know basis and at that time we didn't need to know. We would find each other eventually, and how we would respond to one another would be yet another part of the test of our lives. The same rules that apply to us as humans applies to all life created by Him.

The synopsis of what I stated was that the discovery of alien life should not affect religion as there would be no reason for it to. To answer your question, it would take a good deal of convincing and authenticating that the message was legitimately from God and not Satan or just my mind going insane to actually jump off a cliff with no parachute.
