Somehow, I feel he just plagiarized the s*** out of every collection out there. Pastel use from Versace, sleeveless jackets from YSL , Oscar de la Renta silhouette, There is no novelty in his clothes. In terms of fashion, Kors is equivalent to Old Navy in a typical American mall.

After watching McQueens recent "ATLANTIS" collection, most of these designers don't even measure up to creativity and craftsmanship. Michael Kors keeps delivering these concept driven, resort rehashed collections. Fashion should move forward with a purpose and true vision. It's Project Runway worthy, but, not for the everyday woman. Nothing to be GA-GA over. Pedestrian at best.

@nine110 - This looks likes your usual Michael Kors "off-to-some-island summer collection to you? This is a departure from Kors. Some to a lot of these clothes are very conceptual in their context. It's good to see one designer maintain his identity while still pushing his usual design aesthetic forward. So these models aren't walking in 10 inch reptilian heels, but when was the last time you saw Mrs. Park Avenue in lucite? Certainly not before this collection by Kors.

I honestly do like the collection. I loved it the first time i saw these looks from Mugler, Montana and Helmut Lang. I think Michael does know how to style and merchandise a collection but as for originality, none in the least. I hope I don't hear him cut down another contestant on Project Runway, for originality.

Not necessarily defending him, but part of design is the client . Kors manages to put a certain amount of luxe and glamour into clothes that would other wise would not be worn by the very wealthy, "classic" women. His collections are about the variety of the this classic, wealthy look - Malibu surf-chic (S/S 09), contemporary tough-luxe (F/W 09), spacey techno / retro glamour (S/S 09). The only way to see a lot of originality in him is by comparing his clothes to who's wearing them.

Alot of the major department stores(Bloomingdales/Nordrdstr­oms) also currently like and sell his clothes.

Jessica Simpson helped him a few years ago as she was in some campaigns of his.

Overall, I have mixed feelings about Kors in general. I never really got into his work. But for this particular show, I do like the pastel colors and the use of plastic.

But yeah, the Lady Gaga mesh doesn't work for Kors' image/aesthetic...

I actually think Lady Gaga fits perfectly. Kors' image is nothing-is-wrong, optimistic, glamorous jet-set. His collections are a variation of that image. He went spacey, modern, urban luxe this time. Like the video says, there are hints of lala-land spacey--ness of Gaga in the clothes. "Love Game" is not the best runway tune, but "Poker Face," "The Fame," and the tiny bits of "Starstruck" work very well with the clothes. Kors always picks some kind of catchy pop ode to the good life anyway.

Like i said, the collection was ok, and i'm sticking with that. But what i meant about Lady Gaga is that if you are going to choose someone as your inspiration, at least choose someone worth the class and status. That's just my personal opinion.

I actually have something to say about all the collection I've seen. Michael Kors, again in my opinion, isn't a really great designer. He's alright. I think of him more of a commercial/TV kinda fashion designer. And that's not really "fashion" fashion.
