  • Hallo! My name is Stefano, i'm italian and i'm speaking to the author of this video if she could help me in any way. I like studying Ancient Greek language and, as yours is very similar for phonetical features to A.G., i'd need a mothertongue knowing ancient greek reciting a passage of a famous tragedy of the fifth century B.C (i.d. Aedipus of Sofocles).Unfortunetly my language has not melodic accent like yours. Can you help me ? I'd be very gratefully

  • а как это по-русски?

  • @ildofer

hi, my Russian is not that good so it would be difficult to explain it.

    Spasiba shto smotrite :)

  • "Geri vyrai geroj giroj gerą girą gera." :D

    Aišku, gerai, kad stengiesi. ;)

  • Dekui uz parama...

  • The letters that are called 'nasal' don't represent the nasal sounds anymore, they represent simple long sounds. She is wrong when she tells that the sounds ą in namą, the ę in kėdę, the ų in sūnų, the į in Rytį are 'nasal'. Ū would sound just the same as ų, y would sound just the same as į, but since y and ū are accented in these words the ū and the y sound stronger and longer.

Namas - the first -a- is not long, but semilong, it is just somewhat prolonged due to the accent.

  • I am not wrong when i say that they are nasal.... the name of the sounds is nasal, even thought they do not represent the real nasal sound they are still called nasal letters.

And just because this is a short overview for the beginners who even do not know much about Lithuanian and want to know how the certain letters are pronounced i did not go into the details of accents in Lithuanian. As u must know it is a very dificult subject as one word is pronounced differently in different cases.

  • kazkokia nesamone! nieko nesuprantu..normaliai paaiskink..

  • i love this vid it gets me offf every nighty

  • You missed the "gerai" :p

Geri vyrai geroj girioj gerą girą gerai geria.

  • there are few variations of this sentence:

    1) the one I told.

2)Geri vyrai, geroj giroj, gerą girą gėrė, gerdami gyrėsi.

3)Geri vyrai geroj girioj gerą girą gėrė ir gerdami gyrė: geriems vyrams geroj girioj gerą girą gera gert.

And I guess u can even find more variations not only these 3.

  • Or make them up :p

  • geras darbas, aciu, draugams jau nusiunciau linka ;)
