i just started to learn the penny whistle and yours is the best i heard it been played can you tell what kind of whistle your playing, and wheir can i get my hands on one thank you have inspired me
hello there, did u use special effects with the sound as it has a slight ,mystical echo like sound which i like,or is that just how this instrument sounds due to it being tin?
also what brand do u use?how long is it?how much do they cost?
Hi, Derek. My response was longer than the youtube limit for text comments on videos, so I have sent it to you as a general message. Please check your mailbox.
There is not much to absorb the sound so it has a slight ring or echo. A very sensitive mic is also used which picks up a very clear sound. Apart from that its the whistle and to a very large degree Will's technique that produces the tone.
Hi Megan! Like Derek I would like to please know which brand that is, and What key or tone, I mean B or G, you know. it's not a D i know. I got a D MEG by Clarke's it's breathy but good. THis tone , flute is much lower and I really want to buy one. i'm going to have to purchase one because here is no near shop with whistles, so please regard my mail. beautyful music, u play.
Lord Jesus give me the Holy Ghost and my neighbor.
This is beautiful! We had an irish-tyoe band come to our town and do a clinic with our high school band which I am blessed to be a member of, and the guy that played the accordian also played the tin whistle and someone in the orchestra requested he play this song...this is a really beautiful song on an equally as beautiful instrument.
There are a few instruments that are part of the fipple flute family. The tin whistle is one of these. So is the recorder, but please note that the whistle is NOT a recorder. The best way to learn about the tin whistle is to do a search on google for "tin whistle." In that way you can learn about the instrument in more detail. They are fairly simple to learn how to play and rather inexpensive.
So my penny whistle and harmonica are in the wrong key! :( What key is this particular version in, that I may try and evoke it with my inner irish ness?
Hey danielscheck the reson you cant find the music for o danny boy is because it it wasnt named danny boy until 1912 the original it was known first as "a young mans dream" then later londonderry air/derry air
Thanks for the kind words. I don't know that Will used any written notation for this; I believe he always sort of "winged" this tune by the seat of his trousers (so to speak). I'm sorry I can't be of any real assistance in your search, but I should think there would be sites on the web that may have the dots. Again, I'm sorry I can't be of any real help.
That was really beautiful. I think my tinwhistle is really 'tnny'. It will never in a million years sound like that. I think I need to look into changing it for an upgrade. That was so moving.
This Tune brings back great memories of my orchestra teacher, as someone who was a begginer and jumped to the top orchestra we played this piece and then my teacher just passed away in the past year, thanks for sharing this great peice.
Aye, some memories are precious. That is, after all, what the lyrics to "Danny Boy" are all about. Remembering - and missing - someone deeply.
It sounds as if you were blessed to have a teacher who could leave you with such memories, and he, too, was blessed for having a student such as yourself who cared so much for what he was doing. I am sure his spirit is smiling down upon you.
Gorgeous. :D

Dixon whistle in the key of A. Google "tin whistle" and Dixon. The results should give you some shops that carry the product.
Thanks for watching. :-)
