  • I'm from scotland and Bessie is a common name amidst our older generation of women and i remember it was this old woman's 90th birthday party and she just so happened to be the grandmother of a work mate of mine, and as they called her up to blow out the candles on her cake, someone put this song on full volume and she started dancin' to it! It's not avery interesting story but very funny to see!!

  • To me, this was JB's response to Rick James' "You & I," a reminder that JD fused disco, funk and r&b FIRST -- in D!!!

  • Another great throw away album filler cut. Terrible.

  • I just won the Dead Heavy on the Funk CD on Ebay. Wanna blast it, especially this one, even though, there are some bad cuts on the two CD set.

  • Yes, I agree that the version by JBs Wedge is better.

  • Don't like this much at all, this is the low point of the LP 'Mutha's Nature'

  • @PaulDA2000

It's basically a disco song, right? And he was not suited to doing disco, even though his music gave the impetus for disco. But that version by JB's Wedge that they included on the "Funky Men" cd is better, because it really is disco-funk...

  • @IkeDyson71 i have the version of bessie from the cd's funky men
