i like the movie but it kinda reminded me of spy kids in parts and at other time i was just amazed what i like to call the car kung fu it was just fun to watch

LOVED the movie.. Great casting and everything but was it that hard to make some of the characters similar to the original ones?? Take Sparky and Snake Oiler for example.... Sparky, in the movie, was British, and not as young-looking as he was supposed to.. (but still cute ^^) And Snake... I have no idea where they got the mustache idea from.... and his voice! very different but still great!

im 20 years old. i loved speed racer when i was a kid in the 90's. and they did a great job of bringing the cartoon to life. they didnt try to remake it into something more realistic. they just made it pretty much exactly like the cartoon. i loved the movie. the racing was intense. the last race gave me chills! i bet if it was a cartoon everybody would have a totally different view! all the negative people are stupid. its not supposed to be realistic!

I mi se me hizo una extraordinaria pelícuala familiar, la trama fue bien desarrollada, la interacción de los personajes, el niño y el chimpance, y por último el mensaje de la película fue muy bueno y en su punto final algo emotivo. If the greenscreen was "obvious" then that's GOOD because it's the look they were going for - it's what cell animation looks like layered in front of a background. 'Speed Racer' uses it as a very deliberate stylistic element, and takes the "layering" process to a whole new level.

I JUST finished watching Speed Racer for the first time and the first 30 minutes were so dead I didn't know if I'd be able to make it through. Then it picked up. Some green screen parts were more obvious than others. But as the story got meaty, so did my interest. BUT, THAT BOY AND THAT FUCKING MONKEY AS THE COMIC RELIEF MADE ME WANT TO KILL MYSELF! I liked Speed Racer. A lot of people said it sucked because they saw the trailers and they were like "Eh, okay, not for me." That's what I said anyway, but I went to see it and it was awesome.
The colors were amazing lol, and the racing. I'm also a NASCAR fan though, so I like racing.

This movie was actually cool. For a family movie, IT ROCKS! A little too long and many dialogs could be edited away... but the visuals, the race sequences and the editing blew me away. The mild family-safe plot is not a big thing but it serves its purpose. Overall: GREEEEATTT MOVIE, its gonna be cult classic (mark my words). Go watch it, and also watch Ironman it was cool too.

Its funny that alot of the people who have seen the movie such as myself like it but so many people online don't like it, go watch it! Its sophisticated to be critical but its stupid to be critical on a whole movie before seeing it! Damn, this movie fucking BOMBED. Hasn't even reached 80 million worldwide. Total cost of the film with marketing is upwards of around 200 million. That means no sequel. No profit for years. No more Speed Racer.
It'd be different but in most animes they can re-draw characters quite accuratley so a Spider-Man anime would probably be interesting but if it were made by America in an anime style (Or Americas attempt at it) then it'd probably look bad like the new Transformers cartoon but then again most Warner Brothers action cartoons look bad these days. In my opinion It all comes down to trying to make things look good but not doing it right. Your last comments right though Animes tend to have more detail

I JUST finished watching Speed Racer for the first time and the first 30 minutes were so dead I didn't know if I'd be able to make it through. Then it picked up. Some green screen parts were more obvious than others. But as the story got meaty, so did my interest. BUT, THAT BOY AND THAT FUCKING MONKEY AS THE COMIC RELIEF MADE ME WANT TO KILL MYSELF! JESUS CHRIST I WANTED THEM TO DIE! & We couldn't go FIVE MINUTES without their presence. Aside them, everything was alright. I give it a C+/B-

this movie was THE BOMB!! i have it on dvd, it came out sept. 16, and it's my favorite movie ever. i saw it the 1st tim at the movies on the big screen, and lemme tell u, nothin beats that. speed racer is just the type of movie that u HAVE to c on the big screen at least once - but i saw it on the big screen twice! =D and i think it's stupid to agree w/ critics when they say a movie's bad, cuz that's not your opinion, it's their's. go c it for urself and find out what U think. go speed racer!!!

I liked Speed Racer. A lot of people said it sucked because they saw the trailers and they were like "Eh, okay, not for me." That's what I said anyway, but I went to see it and it was awesome.
The colors were amazing lol, and the racing. I'm also a NASCAR fan though, so I like racing.

lmao I watched parts of this movie and I was like totally in shock for how intense and rich each scene was with gayness. If there ever was a movie that could reach its gay potential, this was it. Its so gay you just have to see it so you can be amused with just how gay it is. Any real fan of racing or the classic cartoon would agree they gayed up everything about both with this movie. They totally maxed out the gayness scale in every action scene. It's like gay times infinity to the 10th power.

This movie was actually cool. For a family movie, IT ROCKS! A little too long and many dialogs could be edited away... but the visuals, the race sequences and the editing blew me away. The mild family-safe plot is not a big thing but it serves its purpose. Overall: GREEEEATTT MOVIE, its gonna be cult classic (mark my words). Go watch it, and also watch Ironman it was cool too.

Its funny that alot of the people who have seen the movie such as myself like it but so many people online don't like it, go watch it! Its sophisticated to be critical but its stupid to be critical on a whole movie before seeing it! Think logicly and don't assume and keep a cheerful open mind if you wanna enjoy this film or life in general.

Damn, this movie fucking BOMBED. Hasn't even reached 80 million worldwide. Total cost of the film with marketing is upwards of around 200 million. That means no sequel. No profit for years. No more Speed Racer.

The animated cartoon of Japan is accurate, and delicate.
Therefore, making a Japanese animated cartoon into a film has failed also
in Japan.

It'd be different but in most animes they can re-draw characters quite accuratley so a Spider-Man anime would probably be interesting but if it were made by America in an anime style (Or Americas attempt at it) then it'd probably look bad like the new Transformers cartoon but then again most Warner Brothers action cartoons look bad these days. In my opinion It all comes down to trying to make things look good but not doing it right. Your last comments right though Animes tend to have more detail
