  • Superb clip! Thanks for posting.

  • Amazing fingers and it is classic all right

  • I heard in a documentary once, that if he's sitting once he starts playing. By the end he'll be up shaking it. He had so much passion when he played. This proves it! I love this guy. Thanks for uploading something that holds such greatness in just a little over 3 minutes.

  • I have the chills!! If i could hit that thumbs up one million times...

  • The Rolling Stones loved this guy! Blues and soul were big in England, of course thats how we got rock!

  • @poppa8169

  • @poppa8169 nope we got rock from bo didley and chuck berry

  • I read Howling Wolf's biography and it said that English people viewed Wolf's intensity as "Uncle Tom"-ish. Is soul a purely American gift?? As far as Blues goes, definitely! Only US blues counts and that's a fact! USA! USA! WE are the hope foe a better Earth!

  • @MrRGanja if you trace the origin of blues you'll find it's roots in British and Jamaican (British colony at the time) folk music with African music too.

English audiences loved howling wolf, just watch some of his performances in england here on youtube. this false view of Brits being frigid is pathetic, i mean it is when it's said from someone who's nation changed dozens of English sayings because the thought they were too raunchy. like 'tit-bits' and 'tid-bits'.

    no offence :)

  • RAW. Love it.

  • looks like we have been "twerkin" for a while...its so true "ain't nothin new under the sun"

  • @cwpfaff You can get it on a dvd called "American Folk Blues Festival 1962-1966 volume two.

  • There's really 18 people that would give this a thumbs down? WTF!

Howling Wolf...thank you for your inspiration that keeps me sane in a soul-less environment full of brainwashing music..!! God bless you!

  • @streetgeezer The american folk blues festival vol. 2

  • Wow, Mr. Burnett was a big guy - at the end of song he looks like he's holding a ukulele.

  • inspiration for ren and stimpy themesong at 2:23

  • @w33dOr Lynyrd Skynyrd "I know little" always reminds me of the Ren and Stimpy theme.

  • GOOD BLUES

  • Che bei tempi...

  • Rock stole everething from this, but performed with worse singers, worse musicians. And they tried to persuade themself they made real music. What a joke! Rock is the biggest joke in popular music history. Just before Rap BTW.

  • @turpinaime Man, that's just ignorant. Rock is a child of the blues, don't be dissing the family :)

  • "Shake for me girl, I wanna be your back door man".. Dya think Howlin' Wolf was a major influence on Led Zeppelin and The Doors?? For sure!! :)))) Specifically on the front men.. :))) Dig it!!

  • Ya know what I LOVE about the old music... instruments. None of that electronical stuff. Its music played the way music was meant to sound. Happy Birthday old man, thanks for coming around!

  • Is this lip synched? I'd think not but don't see the rhythm section.

  • He's a crazy ol' Bastard---I love the wolf!

  • What a voice!

  • Happy 100th....Luv him!! :)

  • Happy 100th Howlin

  • What a great voice. Wolf was such a large man, he makes his giutar look like a toy. Happy 100th b-day Wolf. You still live on in our hearts.

  • The Wolf would have been 100 years old today, June 10, 2010!

  • mercy, what a jam!

  • @DustyRolls

    No, that's jelly, surely

  • @gizau That must be a Jelly jam. love when that happens

  • what an amazing man..such an understatement! he is so inspiring. what a beautiful soul this man shares and expresses. i just took a history of blues music class and i fell in love with blues even more than i already was. <3

  • @blzebra999 send me your real email and I will send you a copy of the poster-like card I designed for Wolf's birthday with some graphics help from a pal....What it speaks to goes deeper than most have said about why he could touch people so deeply. That he did, both Sam Phillips and BB King said it so well, each in their own ways, but I knew Wolf well in numerous collaborative ways as a kindred spirit, and only I thought and and cared to ask WHY he ran from his sadistic uncle - now on record

  • fucking sex in ny add in your video excuse them mr howlin´ they don´t know anything

  • clap for the wolfman

  • He's the greatest. I just started listening to him a few months ago. So glad I did. This is one of the best videos I've seen. Thanks for posting.

  • Hubert Sumlin has the most eloquent vibrato.

  • That young man playing the electric,

Is the Great Hubert Sumlin, maybe the best guitar

    player on the planet

  • Whatever happened to bands like this that made all of their music and worked hard for their money? Not some freaking drum machine and sound effects ,with things that add to your voice, so when you do a live concert the music sounds horrible !!!!

  • I just watched cadilac records about muddy waters mostley but heard smokestack lightning in it this dude should have a full movie about him

  • Classic stuff here. Must be jelly cause jam don't shake like that! Thanks for posting this one!

  • This Guy was freaking incredible !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Happy Hundredth Birthday to my mentor, close friend, music teacher and portraits collaborator. Howl on, Wolf ....never dead, never forgotten,

  • This must be the first supergroup!! 1,000*

  • Impressionant !

  • So cool. No wonder Stevie was so influenced by these musicians. Thank you for posting!!!! What a treat!

  • Clifton James is on the drums. His name is given at the beginning of the video.

  • Who's on the drums in this?

And yeah...Hubert Sumlin is great. I saw an inter view with Hubert and he said when him and Wolf worked out this song they both knew they had a big hit. Surely one of my favorite Wolf tunes.

  • Clapton said Hubert Sumlin was one of his biggest influences, I can see why.

  • @NoriokoTheMagicSkunk you can definitely hear the Influence of Hubert in Clapton's playing but moreso in Robert Cray's style

  • So great! Thanks for posting!

  • Hubert Sumlin was the man , no doubt! His licks and runs have been used by everyone from Jimi Hendrix, SRV, to John Mayer today.

  • Anyone else think Hubert Sumlin was the coolest guitarist ever?

  • @paulwhitberg. Absolutely...and in these clips he looks about 18 years old!!

  • I got to see him live a few years ago, powerhouse guitarist.

  • I Think Hubert Sumlin is One Of The Greatest Guitar Players Ever,Did You Know Howlin and Muddy Got into a Bit of a Scuffle Over Hubert After Little Walter Decided To Walk Out On Muddy For a Short Time,I Saw Him at Radio City a Few Years Back Called a Tribute To The Blues,EVERYONE Was There, and He Lit it Up With Buster poindexter On That Vintage Gold Les Paul He Uses,The Man Is a Living Legend and No One Can Touch His Unique Sound,Greatest Combo Ever,Howlin and Hubert!

    Long Live The Blues

    Randy

  • @paulwhitberg sure do!

  • @paulwhitberg Hubert is still out there playing. I've seen him twice in the last two years. When he is up there playing I sometimes think he is having even more fun than we are.

  • @paulwhitberg yes, he was- and a powerful voice to match

  • @paulwhitberg Must have been good, Jimmy Page stole a lot of his riffs. I'm going to have to check my Zeppelin albums and see if there are any credits to Howlin Wolf on them.

  • @bergerfry The original releases had no credits to Howlin Wolf or anyone else

  • @paulwhitberg WAS? He is not DEAD DUDE!

  • @paulwhitberg I do :) he was also coolest man ever.

  • @paulwhitberg yes sir.

  • @paulwhitberg

I met Sumlin a few years ago, and I can tell you that he is not only an amazing player, he's also a very sweet man.

  • @paulwhitberg most do check out his solos on Hidden Charms and Coon on the Moon:
