@ionvkch Human ingenuity is boundless in all areas. I think the reason that Chinese engineering in ancient times get such accolades is because more of it are preserved now then in other civilization (The Chinese civilization being in continuous existence for 5000 years helps, even if they are not politically united all of the time.)

As a Chinese American myself, I know the virtues and flaws of both eastern and western cultures, and I appreciate and am proud of them all the same.
Interesting you mention work ethics and creativity. The booming China is out competing the West due to a vast surplus of cheap and highly efficient workers. However China doesn't seem to be advancing any new ideas or technologies. They are just producing the same thing produced in the developed world for decades, but cheaper and more efficiently.
