@meggark That was actually a concern when designing it but it turns out that they work quite well that way and you have about double the thrust. You do lose a little bit but not very much.
@jolicoq WHAT? Are you joking? Those engines have the same weight, way less power, a ton more vibration and noise, burn over double the gas and are nowhere near as reliable as the quality engines. The only reason people buy black devils is because they are cheap. Certainly not quality by any means.
@Fishmonger1966 Yes that is possible but not really necessary as this aircraft can takeoff and land just about anywhere on land in a very very small area.
Give me a call if you have any questions on anything as you go through the training. I can be a big help with tips on both training and equipment selection. 801-631-1731. Dell
What kind of ultralights ? I fly ultralights, when I see the PPG guys going to slow and not able to go anywhere, I think "Poor ******", they dont know what real flying is :)
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand(SORRY BOUT SPAM THIS REALLY FREAKS ME
Awesome! Thanks!....Twin Refractory Fabric Jet engines on the 'Drawing Board' now. I will have to post them up on YouTube, as and when 'The Fan Club'(Rolls Royce) look them over. (Electro Compressor Fans & Seebeck electro-regeneration)
The idea is to have 2 complete separate motors & systems so that no matter what system failure might occur you can still maintain flight. The gentleman that had us build this for him flies in a manner advertising his business where a motor out would be a major problem. This allows him to put the odds of it at pretty much zero.
Hi there,if the props could be turned in the opposite direction i think air flow through them would increase like counter rotating props on a boat,Not for torque reasons but would give you better thrust again then what you have achieved here, good luck
Propellors inline? eeeeek NOOOOOOO! wild guess, the thrust will probably be about 15% 20% more than a single engine. As you found out, you took off on a single engine and didn't even notice at first ... side by side will be significantly more efficient
PLEASE DON'T READ THIS you will die in seven days if you don't post this comment on 10 videos in the next hour. if you do, tommorrow will be the best day
first twin engine PPG with that set up yes. but not first twin engine PPG. the originals had to engines with conter-rotating prop. both props were in the same cage as well.
I would imagine that the second engine would be quite inefficient being so close inline behind the first.

If you put pontoons on it would it really matter? Last time I checked they dont make floating wings.
Bobthepilotguy 1 year ago
@Bobthepilotguy The K2 does actually float or you could use poles to hole it up.

@imasuper0308 Wow it actually floats? Never heard of that. Some good technology these days.

Anybody ever put inflatable pontoons on those trike frames???
The inflatable pontoons boats made for fishing seem to be about the right size and weigh about 65 pounds dry.

why not just get a bigger motor,2 = more maintainence and problems.

maybe maintain flight... but not maintain altitude.... with one engine out powerplant becomes payload...
mitchamus 4 years ago
The engine units weigh 60 lbs, they will carry 500 lbs. One engine will climb quite well actually.

Doesn't the thrust from the first engine make the second less efficient? Have you considered a side-by-side design?

Didn't the paramotor have twin side by side engines? Mounted in the same cage? With counter rotating props?
ppger 4 years ago
No but there is pretty much no torque at all. When you add the weight of the trike at the end of the pendulum you pretty much eliminate torque.
