  • P.S. That SINGLE knife is around $1,299.99

    Source: Know a Sushi Chef

  • hahah the pikachu sushsi :D so sad i live in germany :) want to go to japan :D

  • Last i checked girls hands and feet are always cold lol. I believe its because being a restaurant chef is strenuous, especially a fast pace high volume restaurant, where Asians typically work 6 days a week 12 hour days, There are't that many women that will do this. In Asian cultures, the man typically is the bread winner and the lady maintains the house, watches the kid,.etc,etc. I would compare this by saying why aren't there any lady lumber jacks in America kinda but not that extreme. I'm Asian

  • The rice and fish temperature are crucial to make a good sushi/sashimi therefore most sushi maker are men because they tend to have cooler hands, its scientific.

  • Pikachu!! lol that was really amazing i can do it but no like that way

  • aaaaaawhhhhhhhh its sooooo cuteeeeeeee!!!!!!!! *-* i want to eat all!!!!!!

    *om-nom-nom-nom-nom* <3

  • 鮨の技も人格もすばらしい職人ですね

  • You're right, noswonky. The claim that female's hands are generally slightly warmer than men's has been proven to be false. There is a sushi place in Tokyo that has all-women chefs but none of them have had any serious training and so is regarded as a novelty and is certainly not being taken seriously by anyone.

  • Sorry if this sounds noob but isn't holding the knife with the index finger at the top of the blade regarded as bad for your hand?

  • His technique is absolutely flawless!

  • that's a sword

And now I really really want some sushi XD

  • i'ts it a samurai or what

  • wow nice sensei!

  • Way better than white food.

  • what kind of knife is that?

  • Sharp.

  • Well yea. Do you know who makes it? It's the first knife i've seen that actually resembles a katana. I've heard most high quality sushi knives are made in the same fashion as katana's, but this one looks just like one. *i'm talking about the first one he uses.*

  • @noswonky good answer :D

  • @noswonky lol best reply ever! XD

  • @noswonky well said noswonky. well said...

  • Its a kind of "Maguro-kiri" but the smaller size, the the normal size it to cut big fish like Tuna, but this smaller variant are used by master sushi chefs. Its very expensive..about 1-2 thousand dollars

  • thanks

  • Your welcome :)

  • ginsu?

  • This is tantoo knife. But used for sushi is suprise for me.

  • @aznlonewuff yanagui tako bocho that the name of that Knife :D

  • @aznlonewuff sekura sashimi.

  • pretty!!

  • he knows what he is doing... look at the long strokes... no sawing motion

  • Is it just me or does anyone else notice that majority of sushi and restaurant chefs in Asian countries are mainly men. I don't I've ever seen a woman sushi chef before. Now why is that, can someone please explain the theory or history of mainly men chefs in Asian countries? Thank you!

  • The female translator in the video is now a sushi chef herself.

But my understanding is that in Japanese culture, women are not regarded as suitable to handle sushi with their bare hands because their hands are too warm - and thus not good for the raw fish. However, I don't think this belief has any scientific basis.

  • well i agree with u that woman are not good 4 sushi as my japan chef told me BUT in fairmont hotel dubai sushi chbef was a woman ....thats tru coz i met her alredi

  • @akonato1 that sushi chef woman in fairmont dubai is not good actually ,,she doesnt know anything about sushi, she making a bad reputation of sushi chef, thats why they have a lot of complain in these hotel because there sushi is not good...

  • @noswonky Actually, it has been proven that women's hands are 3 degress colder then men's. That' due to the fact that the woman's body tend to heat more around the core area. :) So yes, you are right!!!

  • I do sushi in a japanese restaurant ...and asked them the seem question thay said.couse woman has a warmer hot than man ..in fact germs get grow up easily..that's why.

    sorry my english isn;t good

  • @vena309 Because we asian feed our woman, we dont share our bills with Woman like western ppl do.

  • @vena309 this will sound very silly

but my dads a chinese chef and im an asian myself ...when we speak about chefs in asia in general they are all men...

i think this is jst about our past and wt asians have adapted to

through my whole life with my dad i have never seen an asian chef!

(even tho my dads a chinese chef he has many korean and japanese fds who are chefs as well)

actually ... koreans tend to have more female chefs but chinese and japanese wise ... no i ahve never seeen

  • @vena309

sushi is regarded as a form of art, just as much as it is food, the male is more sutible to handle it

because in the yin/yang balance, the male energy is the active/creative energy, and the female is the passive/maintaining energy, this is why the males take the chef position, but dont forget that the females

are those who make the cooking at home ! so they in fact do make sushi but behind the scene.

  • @vena309 because women temperature i slightly higher then men's....

  • miam sushis ^^

  • wow!! that's cute!

  • sugoi ne ^o^

  • whoa did i see a damm pikachu in there

  • Mesmerizing..

  • now THAT is art... and delicious~

  • I can only dream to be this good someday

  • 口も上手い寿司屋だなw

  • haha hell yeah:P I always say my japanese Yanagi can cut throug your arm without any resistance. hehe, its almost true! Scary..

  • i like the knife he used for making sashimi. its like a samurai sword, but forged as a knife:)

  • and much much much sharper :)

  • he's neat alrite. chur bae!

  • I hope he washed his hands after he scratched his arse!

  • wow that's amazing....

  • Wow! I am not brave enough to stand on stage and prepare the sushi. I think i need to switch my career to "Repairing eletronics devices".

  • NICE!

  • muito bom,beleza!!!!

  • pao1986 is right - it's nigiri but not sashimi

  • rolls that showed the true asian skills! is my word! :) like WOW!! rolls have moved me :)

  • why don't you two watch the entire video before commenting. he actually did make sushi later on in the video and demonstrated extradinary skills.

  • This isn't sashimi, you're mistaken. I'm a sushi chef, He cut fish but made nigiri out of it. Thus sushi, not sashimi. There are rolls, nigiri, and pressed sushi in the vid - no sashimi. You are wrong.
