  • Go EV. Electric vehicles.

  • @rdsanchez1966 There's not enough oil to make new Electric vehicles that would replace the old oil vehicles :D

  • heinberg suck major shit stained penis

  • the biodiesel shit is a fucking myth, too. the big 18 wheel transports should be running on natural gas, agent zero populace

  • there's a massive corruption here. you responded only after i found out how the non-building of necessary nuclear facilities in america is instituted by a wicked global elite of depopulation agenda, agent. these are the same people that intentionally caused the BP oil disaster, and by golly nigga there is a money trail. all these actions are treasonous and not in the best interests of america, FEMA camp.

  • we've got shit loads of nuclear energy available thanks to reagan. we're getting our hands on as much uranium as we can.

  • @kroovyandcal Uranium won't run tractors and dozens of other agricultural equipment. Trucks run on diesel and transport the food in refrigerated lorries.Freight Trains run on diesel. U can't use uranium to replace gas that makes ammonia for fertilizer. Uranium wont replace aviation fuel. There is 6.5 billion people to feed and we have to transport food around the world to feed 6.5 billion people. Uranium is a finite resource as well and it depletes over time. Uranium doesn't grow on trees either

  • Here in Brazil, ethanol is cheaper than gasoline.

  • this is not true ......... we still have plenty of oil,,,,, saudi arabia, canada, venezuela, and brazil.....................something else is driving the prices up.........if you notice the oil prices started to realy go up after we began the war in 2003 thank god the electric cars are comming.... the first one in december 2010

  • @millions20101 -

Cars are not the issue (they are easy to replace with "bicycles"), the real issue is the total energy used by all our activities most notably making FOOD

electric cars still need energy from somewhere.

the problem is humans trying to grow exponentially using a finite resource

  • @walter0bz

if theirs no oil theirs no tyre's

  • @130ryann - true, this is a depressing observation, can we even make complex mechanical parts for bicycles without fossil fuels?

i think you could still make tires using natural rubber or biofuels, its just weather or not it would still be economical

  • It is interesting to compare the advocates of Peak Oil to those that debunk it. Peakests talk of rates of discovery, depletion, reserves and all that technical stuff. Those that debunk it use religion, exhibit a clear lack of knowledge, and just debunk with no real comments of value such as "monieque" below. . Some people are hard to educate, or are resistant to being educated. Keep up the good work.

  • Bullshit.

  • The demand isn't high enough for us to see it so dramatically.

Oil is in decline every day. But it is the high demand that will obviously push it more.

  • @ocean3da "Oil is in decline every day."

Is that why it's still produced for $2/bbl?

    google. com/search?q=twilight+in+the+desert+saudi+oil

  • @hitssquad

Where? In America with the recession and low demand? one barrel of oil is almost now $80

  • Moniequa is scared of the truth. Denial is in many people. A lot of people don't want to know this, don't want to see it. Some people out there would believe that the war in Afghanistan is all about terrorists.

The western countries have behaved like terrorists.

It is a covert energy war. Nineteen bases were established outside of Afghanistan, this is from the book.

  • Its remained to be seen. Yes we're running out of oil that is why it fell from 250/barrel to less than $80.

  • You just keep dreaming moniequa.

Everything will be fine, really it will.

When the time arrives if your around that is, you just may remember these comments overall here on this video.

  • moniequa, you are just such a dreamer. when it happens, you won't even know what hit you.

May be millions empty, but not enough to see it. The population is too high.

    Governments must confront this issue.

  • If you truly believe that our energy resources are running and population is out of control, you can do something to help, kill your family, friends, neighbors, and yourself. If you don't have the balls to do that, then pay extra for gas and food, you can control the problems, until you can do that then I suggest you stop talking, its meaningless.

  • Oh yes, you are right. So go on, you can knock yourself out first.

    Dreamer.

  • I'm not the one who worries about artificial problems like over population and oil peak, you do.

  • Being in denial is always the first conclusion.

  • I hope energy companies pay you big buck because you have been doing a good job supporting them.

  • I'm not currently even employed.

  • The only energy source ever invented was nuclear. Everything else crude oil is needed for us to live in this society.

When this happens, depending on where we all live, we'll go back a century in living standards, and anything else included. Only those prepared will survive.

  • Nobody can just stop society as it is.

I don't have a family. I know what the future brings.

You can't just pull the plug just because the world faces a problem like this. It only makes people feel uncomfortable to talk about this.

It is better to listen to religious people and politicians tell a more rosier picture of the future, instead of the nasty truth.

  • Oil is needed to manufacture solars panels, it is needed to transport the solar panels to where they are needed.

The same goes for wind turbines. How are you going to move it somewhere? With a horse?

    Tell me?

  • If you guys worry about over population, I suggest, you open more abortion clinics, shut down welfare and food stamp programs, stop feeding third world children and you and family stop having more children. If you are not going to do that, then I suggest you shut up. I'm tired of listening to parrots.

  • Only idiots can believe that this society and life can go on. And even if it could, just what's next?

    Over population, animal extinction?

If it isn't the energy crises, it'll be another problem.

This century is only one of serious problems that will kill most of the world's population.

  • Peak oil and global warming are two piles of giant bullshit.

  • Sure they are. You won't be saying that when it happens.

I have his book, so just try me. You ignorant idiot.

  • Stick his book up your ass, you stupid fucking sheep. Anybody can write a god damn lie, look at "Oil Factor" and The Coming Economic Collapse" by Dr. Leeb. I read them and now I want my money because oil is only 80/barrel not fucking $200. If oil is peaking, oil price should go up continuously not down because a drop used is a drop lost forever. You have been fucked.

  • There has been a recession. It is now slowly heading towards an end.

And at the same time, the new oil projects are aren't online.

When the next decade opens up you moron, then we'll all see.

And thats when the idea of god will be put to the test. I don't believe it and never will.

  • Everything is manipulated and if you still don't see that, then nothing can help you. There won't be any "REAL" energy crisis but only an artificial one. Every boom and bust and every crisis and opportunity were carefully orchestrated by someone. There is nothing we can do about it, absolutely nothing. All of these so call economy experts think they could predict our economic outcome, but they couldn't. It is a God Damn manipulation, when will you people wake up?

  • we need a leader. Bill Gates and branson stop procrastinating

  • wow people are going to go nuts in america when saudi arabia peaks and they finally realize that the oil that is here in america wont be any easier to pump

Question: wont replacing saudi oil with american oil make gas prices go down?

Answer: no it will make gas prices go up

  • Overpopulation is the problem. You can't "be fruitful and multiply" without running into problems with limited resources. Get ready for the show because the chaos will begin in a few years.

  • its true, the population problems will begin in a few years, lately on 2015

  • oh please

  • i agree. shi will start to fly soon. but the media etc still wont talk about population. the left and right have a sort of 'pact' to stop it being mentioned.

  • There is no overpopulation problem. Stop saying shit like that.

  • People like you seem to think the world is so perfect.

And that there won't ever be a problem.

What change the world's population so quickly?

Crude oil. The more people can be fed, with cheap oil with modern day farming, tractors all oil based!

Everything is oil. There is no such thing as green renewables or free energy.

We've been lucky to live in this time and society, my ancestors including yours haver never had it so good in many ways.

  • No, I don't think the world is perfect and there will be problems but not today, tomorrow or 2000 years from now. If oil is peaking, we can use fuel cell instead of oil. Not everything is oil, wind, solar, gas, and nuclear are renewable energy. Oil producing countries are making enough money already you don't need to help spreading their lies.

  • Sorry but there is an overpopulation problem, where have you been? Its your inability to see reality that is holding you back.

  • You know it would be OK if your ignorance only affects you but it doesn't, it affects everyone. For example, real estate bubble, those fools rushed in and bought homes at any price because they believed the population grew exponentially and land disappeared fast. Now who is paying for that stupidity, tax payers. The world population occupies less than 5% of available land. If you just shut your mouth and open your eyes, you'll see.

  • Again, you should take some of your own advice about ignorance, it might help you. The population occupies 5% of the land but it takes MUCH more than that to feed them. Only and idiot would think the size of the human is the issue with overpopulation. The real issue is what it takes to feed, cloth and to provide shelter, energy etc.. for that person to survive. Which, by the way, is much much greater than 5%.

    Please wake up.

  • You're so damn stupid I don't even know how to begin to explain to you. We have plenty of energy resources, irritable land, and other natural resources. Have you ever flown over anywhere in world there are millions of acres of available land. We have enough to feed, clothe, and shelter everyone but we don't want to share. Talking about shelter, every other home is empty, hello housing market crashed leaving millions of homes empty.

  • Sorry moniequa but you are wrong. There isn't enough food for everyone, even if we SHARED all the resources in the world. The clueless one would be you.

And why is it you go around all the oil vids and post there is no peak oil? What is your agenda?

  • I'm sorry controlpopulation but you're completely wrong. I'm a realist not a dreamer. Oil scarcity is a myth. I go to all oil vids to speak the truth but I guess no one bothers to hear it because they're too ignorant to understand about artificial crisis and manipulation. You have no evidence or anything yet you continue to say oil is disappearing, oil is cheaper than water right now, how is something that's so finite but is cheaper than dirt?

  • Don't sell yourself short moniequa, you are a dreamer. Peak Oil is not a myth and having worked in the industry and know scientists that have worked in it for over 35+ years, trust me, we have peaked. Matter of fact, we peaked in the late 90's yet a few groups out there in the world continue to lie to the public for profit motive. They could care less about the worlds future, only their own pockets.

But don't worry, reality is setting in and the harsh truth is not too far away.

  • It is a myth, you have to be very dense to not know that. This video was made when oil "was scarce" well guess what, no oil shortage videos after oil price went down to basically nothing. There are billions of barrels around the world, southeast asia, Asian Islands, Green Field Colorado. You're help these oil companies by spewing your nonsense.

  • Unfortunately moniequa, billions are not enough. We use 85 million a day and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that we blow through 31+ billion every year. And most of the oil your talking about is not economical to get out of the ground, even at $100 a barrel or even $200 per barrel. Sorry but there is a shortage and that's why long term oil prices will continue to rise and the only reason why its not at $200 per barrel now is because the world is in a severe recession.

  • If oil is peaking, oil price should increase consistently and only slow down when the demand is low but not decreasing because oil is finite and irreplaceable. Did you know that a few months ago oil was as cheap as in 1975? How could that be possible when oil level now is a lot less than in 1975? Please tell me. Don't use supply and demand theory because it is not relevant.

  • Moniequa, when you have the largest economy in the world, by far, in a deep recession, oil will obviously drop due to lack of demand. But, that won't last forever because as the US declines India, China and many other countries continue to grow making up for the US drop in consumption. Oil will continue to fluctuate in price but over the long term it will consistently go UP!

Wait and see what happens when Mexico is no longer able to ship us their oil which has peaked faster than expected.

  • Once again, supply and demand theory doesn't apply here because if oil is finite than oil price should increase continuously and only slow down when the demand decreases and pick back up again the demand increases, it should never drop at all. Oil price will go back up again not because of demand or peak production but because people like you are asking for it. I think gas should be $20 a gallon and you should be the first one to pay for it.

  • @moniequa

you do know the difference between conventional oil and unconventional oil, right?

  • @perfectbark, guess what they just found more oil in lake albert in uganda, billions of barrel oil.

  • billion eh? How much time will billions buy with the emerging economies of China and India alone? Time for some novel thoughts and innovation there Glenn Beck ......

  • big deal, how long would that last. we burn a monstrous 5 km cube of oil every year!

US reached peak oil in the 70's and look what happened. now we are approaching it worldwide.

in spite of that, demand only shows exponential increase, and that will only continue with growth economic policies to feed the obsession with wealth and material comforts.

we WILL reach the singularity where growth meets the earths limits, and we are doing NOTHING to avert this. billions will INEVITABLY die.

  • @perfectbark, I know the difference between the two and neither is running out.

  • when was the last time you had a novel thought?

  • entirely conventional oil analysts say we have either reached or at near peak oil, and we have NOT got an energy alternative. there isnt even enough raw material for nuclear if china and india want in. fact is, we are not only overpopulated ecologically - by about 7 times, but soon by energy too. the only thing propping up our astronomical population is fossil energy that enables massively efficient... but massively destructive agriculture. we will have to reduce ourselves, or be reduced.

  • @andy765gtr, how about wind and solar, are running out of those too? The truth is, we have plenty of everything but we have to scream and short supply in order to keep the price artificially high. I'm really tired of being squeezed for every penny I have. I'm really really tired.

  • renewables are NOT magic bullets. in fact we hardly any from renewables. but pricing out fossil fuels is a way of speeding up investment. however, they will never meet the populations needs, esp if it grows.

renewables will only work with a much lower pops. theres other things to consider as well. the impact of man is vast. evidenced by mass extinction, deforestation, water shortage, soil erosion and desertification, pollution of oceans, poverty. all these are getting ever worse

  • @andy765gtr, renewable will work for large or small population. We can use alternative fuel along with fossil. We have gas, fossil, coal, solar, wind, nuclear, water, and bio. You see there is plenty of energy to go around but we don't want to make it available because we want to keep the price artificially high for everyone. All of you who scream short supply are very evil.

  • moniequa, we have not even started on a sufficient alternative infrastructure. vested interests / denialism such as yours have stopped work for decades.

peak oil depression panic will be the very worst time to build infrastructure on the astronomical scale needed to replace oil, when any spare resources will be needed to just keep going. even if it was theoretically possible to meet the ever growing consumer demand.

'war footing' and restructuring of society will be needed to get even close.

  • @andy765gtr, you're being silly, we don't have money to build alternative infrastructure but we have enough, keep dead beat home owners to stay in their homes, health care, cash for clunkers, move out incentive, bank bailout, need I go on? We're not running out of oil and that's why we are not building anything, we don't need it. It is still cheaper to use oil because we have plenty.

  • energy analysts are talking about having nearly reached peak oil. it can be relatively cheap up to that point if alternatives arnt developed or scaled to compete. and markets wont respond till its too late, state intervention was required 20 yrs ago. oops. oils also cheap because its environmental costs are not factored in at all. but even with limitless energy, growth can't be infinite. btw, your denialism is immature at best, at worse a psychosis. mature people face up to problems.

  • @andy765gtr, energy analysts are a bunch of talking heads, they don't know anything. They can't never predict the end of oil because oil is a renewable natural resource. Believe me if oil was a finite resource, energy companies would've built alternative fuel infrastructures along time ago. They would never miss the opportunity to capitalize on this. Rockefeller switched from coal to oil business why wouldn't these energy companies capitalize on alternative fuel?

  • if you're really asserting oil is infinite, then can you provide a link to peer reviewed journal that provides evidence that oil is being formed as fast as its being extracted.

because like other rational people i think its formed by a sedimentary process that has taken millions of years

i suspose you think oil is 'abiotic' and continuously formed by god in the center of the earth for mans express use, or something.

moniequa is a pretty name. its such a shame you are full of shit.

  • @moniequa "energy companies would've built alternative fuel infrastructures along time ago. "

no, they are motivated by the short term only. why squander company profits on the 'future good' which they wont personally benifit from. its pure 'tragedy of the commons' stuff. oil invests small beer as PR (100's of millions on biofuel tech) but spending half their crazy profits on massive solar power grids to 'benefit civilization' or the 'future company' in 40 yrs? get that past the shareholders.

  • @andy765gtr, you don't have to worry about alternative fuel, if we run out of oil, oil companies will switch to alternative but now its not the time. All these oil shortage or oil peak talk is just a ploy to increase gas prices. We don't know anything about oil supply we only hear it from oil researchers. Who are these researchers? who hired them? Who checked to see if their research was correct? We don't know anything about them yet we accept everything they say as fact.

  • "you don't have to worry, oil companies will switch to alternative"

rubbish. if infrastructure isnt in place before the oil peak crisis, civilization will be crushed trying to survive/grow and build the infrastructure at the same time. a massive depression is no cars, little health or medicine, shortage of all resources like FOOD. no hope. oil scale green energy needs pushed through under war footing now. we also need to observe our true eco limits. infinite growth is logically not possible.

  • @moniequa "All these oil shortage or oil peak talk is just a ploy to increase gas prices."

really, so why dont you expose it properly with evidence then.

if your asking the rationalists here to believe a paranoid, egotistical fantasist who is only really concerned about the price of her pickup trucks gas, over experts from the real world who publish papers in peer reviewed journals, you've got a vain hope.

bring some evidence from a respected source, and i may change my mind.

  • I'm confused by your greater tax claim, moniequa, cos it seems politicians are bending over backwards to AVOID levying carbon taxes, to avoid alienating voters and to increase economic growth, esp in the US, where petrol is INCREDIBLY CHEAP, hence their ability to afford ridiculously large engined vehicles and ridiculously cheap flights. if govs wanted to seriously tackle climate change/peak oil they'd levy rather more tax than they do. but they only care about the next election.

  • @andy765gtr, you're an idiot, the government can't tax for carbon or oil because there is no reason for it. Increasing the tax will not prevent oil from depleting, presuming that oil is running out, but we're running out of oil we can prove that by looking at our history, oil ran out many times before but only to come back with lower price. In 2007 oil went up 150 a barrel and back down to 45 a barrel. Is that the right behavior of depleting resource? I don' t think so.

  • "the government can't tax for carbon or oil because there is no reason for it"

there is if your fundy paranoia about an enviro threat conspiracy to raise tax is true. why arnt govs using it; oil is made available cheaply. means theyre not playing ball with conspiracy, in which case why do they officially agree with science. could it be they are TORN between acting on warnings, and vested interests of the economy/industry which demand GROWTH.

somethings not adding up with this 'conspiracy'

  • Its not a conspiracy, it's business, it's a law of supply/demand. When the demand is high and supply is low, price increases. In oil, supply is kept artificially low so the price could be high. If you don't see that see this simple manipulation than no one can help you. I think you should stop being theorist and start being a realist.

  • @moniequa yes i know what artificial price inflation is thanks. peak oil is when they wont need to do it artificially anymore! :)

you wont worry about cheapo gas prices then. more like how to get food and clean water, and how to avoid catching cholera.

  • then please allow the law of supply and demand work on its own. When supply is gone the price will increase automatically, we don't need people like you to tell us that the supply is getting low when its not or tax the shit out certain commodities. laissez-faire, butt out, its none of your business.

  • While it may take another twenty years for the full effects to sink in, the first impacts from oil depletion will be felt within five years. Given the size of our civilization and the extent to which we rely on energy in all its myriad forms, five years is far too short a time to accomplish any of the unraveling or re-engineering it would take to back away from the precipice. At this point we are committed to going over the edge into a major population reduction. - Paul Chefurka

  • @andy765gtr, Paul didn't do any research on oil himself therefore his theory on oil depletion is useless. Oil companies will invest their money in alternative when its time. They know what they're doing, you and Paul don't need to tell them what to do. Ecology is a useless field, I took the damn class now I want my time, energy and money back.

  • bet you rely enjoyed the class on how to be a head in the sand, denialist crackpot though. as if you can understand a subject as complex as 'ecology' from a 'class'. takes a special moron to dismiss the branch of science that describes how living systems work as "a useless field".

kinda negates anything else you might say. still being a dumbass never hurt sarah palin.

if qualifications are 'in' suddenly, how comes you growth nuts rule out the scientific consensus on climate change?

  • @andy765gtr, there is such thing as junk science, global warming is one of them. If you believe everything that researchers tell you then are stupider than I thought. Every god damn hypothesis is subjected to question and rigorous investigation before it is accepted as the truth, have you done that? No you haven't, you just listen and blindly believe whatever people tell you, who is the moron now.

  • *facepalm*. ok einstein, explain how the earth warmed even during a solar minimum, when it should have cooled, esp considering global dimming from chinas coal particulates and all the rainforest burning. can see even more records smashed now we are at solar maximum....

but of course, its just a conspiracy - by ALL the worlds scientists. shame theres no evidence in the emails though. lets see how the enquiry goes

regardless of that, your gas is about to get very expensive from peak oil soon.

  • @andy765gtr, ice melted and froze many times before, it had nothing to do with polution. Scientists that support global warming are a bunch of sold out idiots and if you believe them you're crazy. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'm a realist, I believe what I see with my eyes I don't need a researcher to tell me that the sun rises from the east. I know that oil is not running out because it was gone many times before and now oil its less than $100 per barrel.

  • lol. i just gave you indisputable evidence of climate change there. cognitive dissonance, or what.

its ironic that obamas health care reforms, that you probably oppose, being a right wing fundy, are likely to aid poor ppl like you most of all. with your serious mental disorders.

i assume you think the world is only 6000 yrs old; and an arbitary roman godman will zoom out of space and zap you off somewhere. could account for you rejecting science and living for today in a fantasy world.

  • Is that your tactic, when losing an argument, you change the subject and call people name?

Don't ASSume anything about me and I don't try to drag me into the healthcare reform. I don't reject science, I reject crappy science. You need to learn how to differentiate between the two.

  • so, by your silence, i take it you are a creationist and believe in the rapture. you seem to collect delusions like other ppl might collect stamps.

someone who believes magic and fairy tales is not a person likely to able to judge which parts of science are 'credible' or not.

if you claiming a branch of science 'wrong' you need to give peer reviewed evidence for it. such as the known physical properties of CO2 are incorrect, just for starters. claiming something is insuffficient.

    good luck.

  • I'm not creationist or a conspiracy theorist, Im a realist and a business person. I know we still have enough oil to last for a long time, if we running out oil, oil companies will invest heavily in alternative fuel. Energy is a lucrative business there is a great opportunity for oil companies to switch from oil to green fuel, however right now oil is so cheap that it doesn't make any economic sense for them to switch. Oil shortage is just a tactic to fool dumb people like you to pay more.

  • realist my ass. 1) you reject the massive evidence of AGW. 2) dito world peak oil is imminent, that oil is finite proven by 70's US, that no major oil is being discovered. 3) dispute overpopulation, in spite of a mass extinction. 4)think we can create oil scale alternatives AFTER energy that powers development runs dry and when civilization has grown much bigger; in spite of needing 20 yrs/70% of all ind activity to develop on oil replacing scale and oil being practically irreplaceable anyway

  • You're a retard, if oil is finite then oil price should go up continuously, because one drop used is one drop lost for ever, and the demand should increase continuously and so the fucking price should've gone up steadily. Grow some god damn brain, you dumb conformist.

  • no, weve not yet witnessed an incremental price increase cos productions kept up with demand (aided by wests monopoly of oil supply). but demand is rising exponentially, but supply will eventually peak. that is peak oil - when supply cannot meet demand anymore.

up to now USA/europe have commanded oil supply. we should not expect incremental price rises, until supply fails. peak oil.

you are not close to debunking peak oil, just failed to understand (or wilfully misinterpret) the concept.

  • Like I told you a million times before, let the law of supply/demand work itself out: When oil production peaks, if it ever will, price will increase and the oil usage will decrease, and when oil market dry out, companies will witch to other energy market like solar, wind, H2O, nuclear, fuel cell, and many others. Right now it is more economical to use oil. Oil comapnies know when to make their moves, they're smarter than you think. So put a cork in it.

  • no, it will be too late. the economy will be busted. no energy.

i told u before, shareholders and boards will not allow the MASSIVE investments NOW because they wont profit in an acceptable time frame.

waiting for a price point that will spur their action will be too late, as it will take at least 20 yrs and the majority of industrial activity to succeed.

govs want free market to solve it, as tax will lose votes. but ind does not think that long term.

we're doomed unless we all get real

  • some new evidence you are totally wrong on AGW as well as peak oil.

"A tiny island claimed for years by India and Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal has disappeared beneath the rising seas, scientists in India say." bbc news

looks like the predictions of SCIENTISTS are coming ever more true. id quit now, unless u wanna look increasingly stupid as time goes on.

  • I don't want to make myself look stupid, so I just go ahead and believe everything that people say. The earth is flat, OK, we run out of homes, OK, we're out of water OK, we're out of food, OK, the earth is slowing down, OK. the gravitational force is weakened OK, we're out of oil but oil is now cheaper than in 1975, OK. gas should be $200/gallon OK.

  • i like the sarcasm. you little sophisticate.

the sad thing moniequa, is i wouldnt bet on you knowing which of those things were true or in the realm of possibility, and those which are fantasy.

well, im gonna have to call this a day, as we are repeating ourselves. let the future be judge / jury on the people of today, that decided not to act on their own scientists dire warnings. hope your around when everyones given the bill for the world, and it says 'uneconomic repair'.

    happy denying

  • Yes, let the future be the judge/jury but I, my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren won't be given the bill for the world because there won't be an oil shortage. We will, however, pay for artificial oil shortage, just like we have many times in the past. Remember population explosion that we had during the house bubble in 2004,2005 and we were shortage of homes and price was skyrocketed? I bet you bought a home.

  • yeah well if thats true and the oil is gonna be all gone very soon what worth is money?? its fuckin useless so thats a lie

  • @controlpopulation

i agree with controlling population. er, btw i know it's off topic, but it's "couldn't care less" ! it always annoys me when i see people, usually americans write "could care less". almost as bad as when they say somethings "addicting" rather than "addictive", or the ridiculous "off of" thing, when one "off" would do.

  • it's usually dumb old white uneducated teabagger Fox News watching americans that respond in this manner. There days are almost gone, but the question is .... will it be too late?

  • theres just too many low grade people voting- the trouble with democracy. good comments. moniequa is in abject denial. 1st card in the anti environmentalists hand is 'no problem'. when that fails, theres the 'no harm', 'technology solutions' cards, etc

once individuals have taken the step against a logical/evidential position (they dont belong to the intellectual class so its easy), no evidence will change their minds. amazingly, greater evidence actually makes their entrenchment worse.

  • "too many low grade people" ..... great reference, I think I'll steal it ......

  • and the point is that even though Ghawar still has 60 or s0 billion barrels left in its reserve, the reserves discovered since the 1940s have been getting smaller and smaller. Can you imagine the environmental mess that would become of the North Slope if they started mining the tar sands up there??

  • same as everywhere else. out of sight out of mine d :(

instead of mining more oil - which will only fuel more growth and more need for oil, in a vicious circle leading, er no-where really, governments need to accept the evidence we have long passed our limits, and start to reduce our ridiculously high population. it will lead to relatively minor social problems, but problems that WILL have to be faced at some point anyway - when resource depletion, wars, etc are even worse than today

  • calcium or sodium carbide a man made material with nearly unlimited supply

  • Everybody get ready for the 19th century!

  • What a thought!

  • he loses credibility pushing biofuels, wind and solar cannot compete with 4th gen nuclear generators. why doesn't he mention nukes?

  • Hydraulic vehicles=50% reduction in fuel,

Investing in public transportation=50% less fuel for public transportation,Car pooling also by internet sites

I think that reducing consumption of fuel is possible by 70-80% world wide, while preserving high quality of life and even ending poverty,

Eat less meat and animal products=saving lots of energy water and area for farming and renewable energy - new job for farmers, I can go on and on,

We can do it in 5 years

    Algae Ethanol=100 ton per acre/year!!

  • Oil has come down from 147 to 49 a barrel.

  • What are you kidding ? You don't need to build wind turbines near towns, and coal, gas and oil pollute the air, and trucks on the highways are noisy too. If we don't move to renewables, the middle class will go bankrupt paying for oil if they insist on driving the same kind of vehicles.

  • What do you actually know about wind generators?

  • Ok Look at some of the well founded hydroe creation vids on you tube I mean realy this guys is speaking from an old scholl path. If you watch this vid you are not stupid do your reserch. he is right about oil but nor hydro.

  • It's more feasible to let 3 billion people die than to find other types of energy. It's a dilemma. But an interesting one :)

  • true

  • But the real answer is efficiency 1st. Homes and buildings can be improved by a factor of 5 or greater; vehicles can quadruple in efficiency; foods can be used efficiently (why feed cows and ethanol plants with grain?). Add simple solar hot-water, and renewables - it's really not that hard, if we try!

  • Ask Cuba about how to survive with little energy waste. The best people to ask are non-industrial countries because they know how to live sufficiently good in a finite environment. We have never learned that in the past 3 generations.

  • At the time this video was made, I think a couple years ago he said oil was at $55, well on May 14 it is $127. Probaly will be over $200 by this time next year. You people with your huge trucks and those that burn gas for entertaiment well enjoy it now.

  • Oh, New College of California, wasn't that a con-game whose marks are now threatening to come back and bite them in the ass?

  • We did try renewables in the '70s. And Carter was voted out for his foresight. Them chickens are coming home to roost.

  • america had the same problem when jimmy carter was in office. his ass got fired. we can't fire bush, but we can pray that he and his have to one day answer to a god higher than their sacred money.

  • And the supreme irony may be that the Bush Ranch is off-grid solar! Talk about a disconnect with reality.. policy one way, personal actions the other.

  • It is ironic. The fact is Bush and most other major players know the truth... But at this point it's too late for any policy changes to make a difference. Even when bush first took office, the best he could do was invade Iraq to free up some oil and keep us going a little longer...

  • we are screwed

  • Yes we are more intelligent than yeast. But we are all programmed to consume and consume until there is nothing left. Not to sound pessimistic but looking at the past behavior patterns of the inhabitants of this world, the majority of the world will suffer and probably perish if they just sit and do nothing to change their self-destructive attitudes and behaviors.

  • if someone perfects the harnessing of hydrogen fusion energy production (like the stars) in the next...5 minutes...we may have a chance!!

  • I'm convinced from all of my study in this area that permaculture provides the only solution to our problems. If enough people "drop out" of mainstream economics before the point of collapse, it will provide a window for survival of the species

  • Thanks for this comment! So true!

  • Yes, we are smarter than yeast. But we are like drug addicts. Many of us know that we are poisoning ourselves. But we don't care about the future for ourselves or the kids. Most important is that we continue to be able to drive our cars and buy some goodies at the store for a low dollar price. More, it's especially hard to quit when everyone around you is doing it.

  • one of the best clips on peak oil.
