Gregg traded the strat to Dickey Betts for an old car & Betts gave Eddy the strat & Duanne's Les Paul after a show Shaver did in Macon & Betts was in the audience. Shaver gave the guitars to Willie Nelson after Eddy died. they were locked in Willie's safe in Willie's office & made it thru the office burning completely down. also. the strat was the guitar Duane used on the Derick & the Dominos Layla lp & pics of both Duane's & Eric Clapton's are the 1's on the back cover.
@cosbyutube He gave Eddy the Strat and a 335..Not a Les Paul when Eddy was 14. He used to literally sleep with them. Duane didn't play a STRAT on Layla..He played a LES PAUL..Clapton played The Strat.

There is no one like Eddy in this world.. Have seen many guitar players try... and miserably fail! Was able to see him play once... WILL NEVER forget it!
Thanks for the post. I have never seen this clip before. Yes, it is sad about Eddie--no doubt he was a very talented musician who should have had a much longer career.
It is interesting how the musical gene pool talent got divided up in the Shaver family..Eddie with the guitar and Billy Joe as the songwriter and singer.
Wow, what a find! It's so good to see Billy and Eddie at this time in their lives. I saw Billy last Monday night and he's better than ever. God Bless Eddie's soul and help Billy cope with all the hard times he's been through.
Ericdunn2013, John Anderson's version you're talking about is done in a studio...and that makes a difference...but, you know something Eric, John Anderson didn't write the words..Billy Joe "Bubba" Shaver did!!!
If you haven't heard BJS Live at Smith's Old Bar, you are missing out on the best Live recording ever. (Maybe Waylon, too.) Eddy rocks the hell out of Atlanta.
I've been playing guitar for 25 years and somehow managed to not know about Eddy till fairly recent times. I've been scouring the internet and Youtube to try and catch up. Astonishingly good player.
Greatness; father and son both. Shame Eddie left us so soon, his chops are surely missed by legions of fans. But like Todd Snider said "Quit too late and you'll die too soon." God rest his soul and help his Daddy-- who's seen more than his share of hard times-- find some peace.
My personal favorite guitarist ever. I had a chance to see him play countless times between early 80's and late 90's. An amazing stylist and creative player. Many thanks to whoever posted this video.
this song makes me so happy

@sandladyvb : Billy Joe doesn't have all his fingers. That may have something to do with it. Just guessing.
