I don't understand the controversy over this. The only reason the hunt is paid any mind is because a seal looks cute and cuddly. The seal hunt is important economically in Canada, and it is no different from the majority of fisheries or farming. 98% of the animals are killed humanely, and the hakapik is an efficient, swift tool.
Ask yourself if you'd react differently if the animals being killed weren't adorable.

This video is terrible. I was on here searching for videos of baby seals and the beginning had made me so happy. I understand that you are trying to prevent seal clubbing, but NOBODY WANTS TO SEE IT! Why post a video of a seal about to be clubbed? That was shocking and terrible and frankly ruined my night.

@grettagrids well, its not only for greed, canada has to control the seal population since seals eat a lot of fish, which alot of other species of animals depend on. If we just stop the seal hunt, we risk having an overpopulation of seals, which means eventuall the seals will start starving, and other animals will also, so we sadly have to kill some of them. They say hakapike is the most humane way, i would prefer of they used some sort of electric shock instead, it's more humane.
