I got a mac because i just want to do what i set out to do without problems. With windows, computers are cheaper, but the operating system doesn't run as smoothly unless you buy a computer worth a fuck-ton (anything over $700 to me, is a fuck-ton)

i meant that unless you get a good computer (such as one with a core processor) your "windows experience" will be quite shitty. And although intel has not upgraded the celeron, it is still commonly used in new pc's.

@Kamilsimac actually no, when XP came out, Intel's Celeron was a big portion of the audience and the other major was the Pentium series.

You can run a system on a celeron, it doesn't really matter as long as the clock speed is adequate.

Also intel i series are extremely over priced, especially on a mac, why would you pay 200 dollars more going from an i5 to an i7, and the upgrade isn't even to the 2600k

i am using the base macbook pro 13 and it's running very well. The celeron literally CRAWLS even when compared to the pentium machines, yet they are still included in today's computers (gateway NV57H50U). the reason why you would pay $200 more is simply because you have no other choice on mac.

It also depends heavily on what you're doing little notebooks can easily suffice with a celeron, theres nothing wrong with it except its date and class

anything you can do with iphoto you can do with digiKam on windows, you can use the money you saved by buying pc to get the programming guide, and since digiKam is open source you can use the programming guide to add any feature you want that iphoto doesn't have.

C++ is an Object Oriented programming language, and a GUI is a Graphical User Interface. Writing a GUI in Windows using the Windows API is a nightmare, but you just go and use something better, like QT4, and it works on anything.
