  • this song brings back so many memories. pure nostalgia for me. thanx for uploading

  • The later 'freeform jazz punk' they released was a bit mad, it took me ages to appreciate it. I still don't like jazz very much though, its the instruments used I think. I dunno, after XX years on this mudball I've learnt to appreciate many styles of music but Jazz, dunno but I can't.

  • whaou toute ma jeunesse CRASS et tout le mouvement.. la France a également vibré avec l'anarchie... merde a sarko ...

  • What does this song really mean

  • It is about a tube crash at Mortgate tube station in London in the 70's, the driver fell asleep (so it was said at the time) and the train crashed at the station, lots of death and injury, it is quietened down now for some reason but there is a plaque at the station in memory.(well, there was, I saw it a few times when going through the station to work years ago, it used to put this song in mind).

  • Or did I name the station wrong? is it Morgate station? I can't be bothered to get a tube map out and check.

I don't suppose its important, but naming a station that had a large death toll 'death' gate (mort meaning death in French), adds a creepy touch to the story. I suppose it won't be long now before some nutter is calling it a masonic sacrifice to Lucifer, or reptile/human hybrids, or the vatican.

    Take your pick.

  • The disaster happened at Moorgate Station.

It was the last stop on the tube route. The driver just kept going past the platform: there was nowhere else to go apart from the sand on the tracks, a buffer and a brick wall. The cause of the crash was never confirmed. More info on Wikipedia, if you;d like to learn more.

  • I remember the furore over the cause, it was front page news for ages but falling asleep was at the time considered the cause although it is true as you say that nothing was proved.

And thank you for telling me the correct name, I have passed the tube many times and could of checked but I didn't bother.

I liked the Mort idea though, considering it was part of the (then) London that Boadicea destroyed it seemed fitting, even though I was wrong as to the name.

  • Great track!!!

    Enough said!!

  • I used to think this song was by "the subhumans", that's why I never managed to find it.

Anybody knows if these bands have anything in common?

  • They were both English Anarcho-Punk bands with screaming vocals, there's the similarity. It's also very likely they met each other at some point...

  • they both kick fuckin ass!

  • flux signed the subhumans to their label, helped them when they were starting out

  • steve ignorant from crass is my uncle and he said your full of shit....

no im just kidding i beleave your correct.

  • hahahaha!!! we are on the same familly!!! LOL!

  • Can ye smell the neu smell, travelling through the air? Aye I can lad, it's a coming from over there over the hills down in the valley, there's no buildings there there's a nuclear power dumpsite someone doesn't care Barnabe says it's safe well why not bury it there.. Flux is a Great Anarcho-Vegan Collectif .....CRASS RECORD !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm only 24 and I think this rocks!!

  • music like this isnt appreciated anymore by the newer generations.

most kids these days are fucking retarded.

(this is coming from a 15 year old)

  • I know what you mean mate. I'm 14 and everyone else is obsessed with over produced hip hop and gay emo.

  • thats why i dont even really associate myself with those people.they have a warped sense of things

  • Now this is what I'm talking about!

    awesome!

  • maybe just the punk in you is dead......so go shave your own head

  • i looooove tube disasters. i wanna marry a tube disaster!

  • Saw them in 83 London, with Subhumans. Moonlight club Hammersmith. FUCKING GREAT.

  • The Moonlight Club I saw a lot of punk bands around that time was in West Hampstead NW6, above the Railway Tavern

  • Good stuff, saw The Mob at the Fulham Greyhound with Flowers in the dustbin, great days, kind of took it for granted then. My local civic hall would have a decent band once a month for years then it all went quiet ,I expect some local councillor decided in their wisdom that Pam ayres was more the order of the day.

  • I saw the Mob with Flowers in the dustbin at the Greyhound, I used to go often to that venue, it was one of the best venues in london. Rubella Ballet, SubHumans, UK Subs Defects etc. The first time I saw Flowers in the D.bin at the Kensington...pub venue (forgot the name) I laughed from surprise coz the singer was a midget, and all these Fem women gave me bad stares, I was only 16!

  • I was 15 at the greyhound gig and i remember an old guy in a beret dancing on the stage and throwing flowers into the audience, ah happy times.

  • Are you talking about the old(ish) Spanish looking bloke who used to look like he was dressed for the Spanish civil war? Black shirt and black trousers (not jeans) Mid height and a bit tubby? If its the same man, he used to attend lots of Conflict, Subhumans etc. gigs.

  • Yes that's him, who was he?

  • I don't know anything about him, he was friendly and I used to say hello to him but other than that all I can say is that one night at the Greyhound he just turned up dancing on the stage and me and a mate were calling him "Mr Spanish civil war" and he became part of the woodwork after that. He certainly looked like an Olive farmer. lol.

  • I got a message to say that the bloke in the beret with the flowers was Raymond a veteran of the Budapest uprising "Everybody loves zi mob"

  • Wow, a name to the face, and a veteran of the Budapest uprising as well! I shall be amazing my mates with " do you remember/did you know...?" questions all night in the pub, lol cheers.

  • massive respect flux - love brothers

  • Where is shit like this nowadays?

  • It's been smothered in designer labels and technology my Friend.

  • I love the Flux of Pink Indians (and this is a very extremely super excellent best song)

  • Fucing Awesom,

  • This is my favorite tune. Thanx.

  • love this tune.

  • utter brilliance.....

  • damn, this be good...

60 Millions...... What can be done ???????

  • I love them. "Is there anybody there". ardcore and political and right on

  • the poem that precedes the music is called NEU SMELL

  • Comment removed

  • The song is dope as fuck but what is it about ??

  • Tube Disasters is about the media's fixation with terrible disasters and tragedies.

  • i hear some sheep in the beginning....maybe¿¿¿

  • that makes sense........ if you think about it

  • ahhhhhhhh, So a tube disaster is a disaster on "the tube" i never really pikked up on that i dont say the tube, or watch it.

but i do want to marry a tube disaster. i always thot it was like a test dube fuckup, like some hot chick that came outta a test tube. flux has the best sound ever i think. the gritty dirty angry ..... best sound ever !

  • It's about train wrecks in the London Underground metro system, or the "Tubes." But yea, also probably a double meaning about evening-news-style tragedy coverage.

  • Anarquía y paz ! tu eres tu propia autoridad !

  • Comment removed

  • sorry not queer, anarcho-core?

  • I had an ausrotten live cd and when i uploaded it. it said that they apparently did a cover of 1/4 dead but instead it was this song.

  • ABJECTS cover is pretty fucking sick, the guitarist Nik, plays guitar in my metal band called Remains Forgotten.
