We did a benefit gig many years ago and CONFLICT wanted £3000 to play!!! Do you remember the gig in Wood Green? Colin Conflict you are a wanker. Anarchy peace and love
I remember my middle-class friends at school raving about this at the time, but as I came from a working-class background I couldn't afford to buy it.
"vicarious of living, rids your boredom" I've always wondered what that line meant. Yeah I've seen a lot of videos on 7/7. Fucked up shit to put it lightly.
@nico623 Yeah you fucking kike, all the good punk came from Britain. Now take your fat american ass off the internet and listen to your NOFX, SUM41, Suicidal Tendencies, and Blink182. Fucking wanker.
Hey come on dude dont hold anything against americans cause of music. I like all of those bands and this band is cool too, i like bands for how they play, not their country
fuck you bitch early suicidal will disenigrate your teeny balls, yea those fag bands you named are queer but you have to listen to american hardcore at its best 79-84
I played guitar on neu smell, and yes it's about peoples fasination with carnage. The drums took 10 hours, guitars and bass about an hour. Great times!!
How fuckin' great is this then? Makes me feel like a right old bastard. (But then, I always wanted to be a right old bastard) Fulfillment is a wonderful thing!
not heard this for ages - my band supported them once - a great scene back then when a new injection of passion & anger entered the punk/new wave thing!
The later 'freeform jazz punk' they released was a bit mad, it took me ages to appreciate it. I still don't like jazz very much though, its the instruments used I think. I dunno, after XX years on this mudball I've learnt to appreciate many styles of music but Jazz, dunno but I can't.
It is about a tube crash at Mortgate tube station in London in the 70's, the driver fell asleep (so it was said at the time) and the train crashed at the station, lots of death and injury, it is quietened down now for some reason but there is a plaque at the station in memory.(well, there was, I saw it a few times when going through the station to work years ago, it used to put this song in mind).
Or did I name the station wrong? is it Morgate station? I can't be bothered to get a tube map out and check.
I don't suppose its important, but naming a station that had a large death toll 'death' gate (mort meaning death in French), adds a creepy touch to the story. I suppose it won't be long now before some nutter is calling it a masonic sacrifice to Lucifer, or reptile/human hybrids, or the vatican.
It was the last stop on the tube route. The driver just kept going past the platform: there was nowhere else to go apart from the sand on the tracks, a buffer and a brick wall. The cause of the crash was never confirmed. More info on Wikipedia, if you;d like to learn more.
I remember the furore over the cause, it was front page news for ages but falling asleep was at the time considered the cause although it is true as you say that nothing was proved.
And thank you for telling me the correct name, I have passed the tube many times and could of checked but I didn't bother.
I liked the Mort idea though, considering it was part of the (then) London that Boadicea destroyed it seemed fitting, even though I was wrong as to the name.
Can ye smell the neu smell, travelling through the air? Aye I can lad, it's a coming from over there over the hills down in the valley, there's no buildings there there's a nuclear power dumpsite someone doesn't care Barnabe says it's safe well why not bury it there.. Flux is a Great Anarcho-Vegan Collectif .....CRASS RECORD !!!!!!!!!!!!
Good stuff, saw The Mob at the Fulham Greyhound with Flowers in the dustbin, great days, kind of took it for granted then. My local civic hall would have a decent band once a month for years then it all went quiet ,I expect some local councillor decided in their wisdom that Pam ayres was more the order of the day.
I saw the Mob with Flowers in the dustbin at the Greyhound, I used to go often to that venue, it was one of the best venues in london. Rubella Ballet, SubHumans, UK Subs Defects etc. The first time I saw Flowers in the D.bin at the Kensington...pub venue (forgot the name) I laughed from surprise coz the singer was a midget, and all these Fem women gave me bad stares, I was only 16!
Are you talking about the old(ish) Spanish looking bloke who used to look like he was dressed for the Spanish civil war? Black shirt and black trousers (not jeans) Mid height and a bit tubby? If its the same man, he used to attend lots of Conflict, Subhumans etc. gigs.
I don't know anything about him, he was friendly and I used to say hello to him but other than that all I can say is that one night at the Greyhound he just turned up dancing on the stage and me and a mate were calling him "Mr Spanish civil war" and he became part of the woodwork after that. He certainly looked like an Olive farmer. lol.
Wow, a name to the face, and a veteran of the Budapest uprising as well! I shall be amazing my mates with " do you remember/did you know...?" questions all night in the pub, lol cheers.
