I played guitar on neu smell, and yes it's about peoples fasination with carnage. The drums took 10 hours, guitars and bass about an hour. Great times!!

What does this song really mean

It is about a tube crash at Mortgate tube station in London in the 70's, the driver fell asleep (so it was said at the time) and the train crashed at the station, lots of death and injury, it is quietened down now for some reason but there is a plaque at the station in memory.(well, there was, I saw it a few times when going through the station to work years ago, it used to put this song in mind).

I don't suppose its important, but naming a station that had a large death toll 'death' gate (mort meaning death in French), adds a creepy touch to the story. I suppose it won't be long now before some nutter is calling it a masonic sacrifice to Lucifer, or reptile/human hybrids, or the vatican.
