Here's two topics: could you show how to connect a PLC from an external device, to a modular controller, to a PC?
Mainly, we're looking for preventative/predictive maintenance stuff! So, scaling would help a lot! For example, how would you monitor a boiler, an air compressor, a cooling tower? We want to be able to predict when things are going to break! Please, post videos on this topic! Please, use REAL WORLD examples! THANK YOU!
@Foaman - That's a bit much to handle in the youtube arena and that is why we moved most of our training to our PLCMentor website. A discussion about what you want to do would be better suited for our Web Class as the decisions to be made are fairly advanced. there are easy ways to connect a controller to I/O and in turn connect that same controller to a monitoring/reporting system. Where the decision making comes is in selecting the proper I/O - ie, time stamping capabilities.
i would be pretty keen for Basics basics basics, ye im doing a industrial refrigeration apprenticeship nd umm interested in learning all about rslogic 5000 because we use it at work a fair bit
You will have to be a litte more specific. RSLogix 5000 can communicate with a wide variety of controllers. I think they all have serial ports in which you will need a null modem serial cable. All the compacts have ethernet built in so a crossover ethernet cable or a patch cable and a switch will work. I will put this on my lists of vids to produce.
Scaling video is up. It may be easier to see in the bigger version on AutomationNC com. Follow the training link. Also, I have to put it on youtube in two parts due to the 10 min length limit.
