  • ok.... i can clearly see land

  • can someone please tell me the name of the pistol he is holding at 5:02?

  • @Ellis01234567890 Just a standard flintlock pistol of the time.

  • @LordWellington15 brilliant (sarcasm)

I was looking for an answer from an educated person.

  • @Ellis01234567890 What the hell else do you want? It is a flintlock pistol. If you want an educated answer go read a book on pistols you clown.

  • @LordWellington15 "What the hell else do you want?" I think its pretty clear from my first and second comment what exactly it is I want. Any "clown" can see its a flintlock pistol but it take a special clown, such as you, to answer a question that you do not know the answer to.

  • @LordWellington15 I'm not too sure however I recommend going through Henry Krank which specialises in flintlocks, you may find it there my friend.

  • @LimeyPipeSmoker91 HAHA I think that comment you wrote was meant to be for me. anyway, thanks for the answer. I'll take a look.

  • @Edgey1988 i'm sorry?

  • I just discovered this series now. But one things.

first, why did Hornblower surrender to the french on that boat, when he was in posses of the 3 handguns? The french only had one.

  • @Blacklizzy22 Does 3 handguns and a life of a man could be compared so cheaply ?

  • That French sailor with the curly hair has the dullest look of any character in the whole series.

  • Hmm... the casot is aright behind them. Perhaps the French captain is nearsighted?

  • Did some marines carry spontoons?

  • @SuperJogvan I believe it was the Sergeants who carried them

  • They changed this from the books!

  • Ummm...total fan of the series and love it...they coulda just shot the officer at 1:19, 4 of them had guns and no one French had a gun except that one guy...

  • Horatio once had command of a sloop, filled with rice and other goods... Now he is command of a row boat, filled with bread and water, and half the crew is French! lol

  • ok that was clever, i kinda sussed it out though hehe :)

  • lmao why does the frenchmen point the pistol downwards???? doesnt he realise the musket ball inside would jsut roll out xD lmao

  • @lokna not if you pack it in tight enough

  • @lokna No it won't. That's one of the reasons the ball is patched.

  • @lokna Good question but I know nothing except it wouldn't make sense for a hand held gun to not have a protection for the ball TO fall out when pointed anywhere but up. There must be a site somewhere that explains the workings of these weapons. Going. ..

  • ioan gruffud is a very good actor, i really like watching films with him in. he makes a very convincing hornblower

  • 5:07 just after all the parallel to the coast bit - spot the land behind the french captain - head for that maybe?

  • @Killeeklane thats not land thats just the water horizon with the fog playing tricks...notice the right side of the french man and the left side @ 5:06

  • One thing I don't like about these series, is that right after they've identified a ship as the enemy, she suddenly lies alongside them, within boarding range.

  • Good observation but it's assumed that they go towards it.

  • I thank you for uploading these

  • to be honest I reckon it should've been ioan grufford to play as the 11th dr. He does have the looks of a timelord.

  • I love that the music always plays more optimistically when ever the Indefatigable is coming into scene! Lol!

  • dam french

  • Lol! At time 3:50 I saw land. I wonder why they didn't see it? Actors eyes must be very bad. :)

  • well spotted it is even clearer at 5.06.

funny archie and clayton and bush all give their lives for H H

  • That's cloud on the horizon, not land.

  • "Hornblower" knew that they were near to land-that is why he says later on in the scene that they are rowing parallel to the coast-but aren't getting any closer to it!

  • LOL well spotted, and just as they were complaining about not being in sight of the coast.... maybe it was because they were facing the wrong way ^^

  • I thought Horatio knew French. Doesn't he know French in the books?

  • He speaks it later in the series... I think he knows a little here but is not fluent?

  • He's taught dancing, music, and French by a French emigree. Since Hornblower is tone-deaf, the only bits that really stuck were the French. His accent is (supposed to be) atrocious, but he knows most of the words. That's in the book, of course.

  • They ran into a French privateer first in the book! Then they were rescued...

  • i love this part! sneaky sneaky!

  • Yay! Its the Idifadigle! I probably misspelt that but who cares!

  • Indefatigable :) But indeed, who cares!
