Lol, it's used in a perpositonal sense. i.e. under. e.g. sub 30 means you solved the cube in under 30 seconds =). sub 2 and a half is either under 2.5 secs =p unlikely...or more likely under 2 and a half minutes.
an easier way to do the pll parity on 4x4 is r2 U2 r2 Uu2 r2 u2. i find that when i its time do the pll parity my hands are already set up for the algorithm
Regarding the issue of pure versus impure edge flip parity algorithms,
the information given in this video is strickly true only for algorithms the world (besides me) current knows. However, there exists pure algorithms which can be done with many wide turns (in the middle, not just the first and last moves).
Also, the diagonal wing edge swap case is a parity just as much as the edge flip.
dude 4x4- swapping 2 opposite dedges: r2 U2 r2 Uu2 r2 u2 (lower case letters are just the inner layers, big letters are the normal side (outer layer) turns, and the Uu2 is both U layers twice)
Advanced: 2x2: sub-6 average 3x3: sub-20 average 4x4: sub-1:30 average 5x5: sub-2:30 average 6x6: sub-4:30 average 7x7: sub-6:30 average Expert: 2x2: sub-4 3x3: sub-14 4x4: sub-55 5x5: sub-1:30 6x6: sub-3:30 7x7: sub 5:30
I would say that your bigcube estimates are way off. For instance, I was sub-1 on 4x4 before I was sub-20. I say: Advanced: 2; sub3 3: sub17 4: sub1 5: sub2 6: sub3:30 7: sub5:20 Expert: 2: sub3 3: sub11 4: sub50 5: sub1:30 6: sub3 7: sub4:30
thanks monkeydude i got a rubik's 4x4 the other day, mad my own method but didn't know how to solve that one parity case you weren't sure was a parity case or not. took me forever to find somewhere with an algorithm for it :)
I would say its a combo of your knowledge of the cube (its mechanism, construction/deconstruction, solving methods) and your speed solving abilities. I would consider Tony Fisher an advanced 3x3x3 cuber because he has made so many variations of it, and created his own solving method, but his times are around 50-55. Only realistic way I think there is to rate a skill level as advanced/intermediate/beginner is to analyze your own abilities and general familiarity with the cube/3-d puzzle.
nah, speed doesn't matter. the fact that you know f2l and 2look makes you intermediate to me. i am about the same, but i almost know full PLL, and I average around 35 seconds. so don't worry about it
@mrthecuber Happy me XD I'm averaging 2:00 min solve on 3x3 XD I consider myself beginner intermediate since I do intuitive F2L and I stick to the beginners method for LL ( too lazy for all those algos)
@mrthecuber idk, 2 minute is not really intermediate no matter what method. How long does it take to reach 2 minutes, like 5-10 solves or 2 hours counting the time to learn 3x3 too. Even if it takes you a week or even a month.
You're not intermediate after 1 month of playing soccer either.
I think you can be considered intermediate after you learn a full method (like f2l+full oll/pll) and have been cubing for 1-2 years and average 15-20 seconds or so.
The OLL parity on the 4x4 is the same as the wing edge parity on the 5x5. the only difference is that he center edge piece on the 5x5 cannot be flipped just as the edge pieces on a 3x3 can't be flipped without actually taking apart the cube. I use the same algorithm for the oll and wing edge parity, of course adapting the notation to fit the 5x5.
it isn't a parity case. However it can be run into during solving if you use the K4 method... and then you use a commutator to solve it or turn it into a parity case and solve that quickly..
But it is parity, just a parity that you run into on a K4 solve, just believe me on this. I used K4 for big cubes around this time last year because I didn't want to memorize the OLL parity but when I couldn't use commutators to fix it, I changed back to reduction and memorized the OLL parity.
For 3x3: Farkin' Goomba, 2 minutes or more. Early Beginner, Sub 2 Beginner, Sub 1 Late Beginner, Sub 50 Early Intermediate, Sub 40 Intermediate, Sub 35 Late Intermediate, Sub 30 Early Advanced, Sub 22 Advanced, Sub 18 Late Advanced, Sub 15 World Class, Sub 12 To break it into just Beginnner, Intermediate, Advanced is absurd considering how big the range is. Calling 21 second average and a 40 second average the same level of skill is kind of silly in my opinion.
What you should have done is, gone in while editing, and recorded your voice saying 7x7, and edited it in there, but made the pitch lower so u sound like a demon.

how did u memorize this one
masonmeizer 2 years ago
anything involving memorization of sequences can be done many ways, the best way is what is comfortable with you
but... this is how i do it
i look at the algorithm while i have the cube in my hand and i apply it... i apply it several times to get my hands used to it.
then i break up the algorithm into parts/sections so that i can do these groups in a single "movement".
for me, raw application over and over again doesn't help me, you have to be active in your practice

However, if you pair those up during edge pairing, you end up with oll parity. (If you look at the K4 method, then you would understand better.)
