Paul Kelly has been my favorite since a buddy melted my REM Chronic Town tape under his desk lamp at college. He made me a copy and asked what I wanted on the other side. "Surprise me" was the best answer I could give.
Gossip.
The Execution ripped, Under The Sun brings back the days of friends and road trips, while Deeper Water, Charlie Owens and kissing my kids on Christmas day make me appreciate life that much more.
Paul can shove his gravy recipe fair up his clacker!!. How dare he shun his (respectful albeit adoring ) oldest and most gorgeous fan here in the city that he loves. Vers le haut de votre cul!!!!
@RSVPBlogger Those numbers can't be right, anyway who cares about the majority atleast you,me and everyone else who's commented here no what a brilliant song writer Paul Kelly is.
Don't you feel good to know this fact.Just quietly I can't help but feel a little smuggish to know that this is a real genius and theres a lot of people out there that wouldn't have a clue.
He has always made me proud to be an Australian.Yes he is an Aussie ICON.
@RSVPBlogger LOL that's because Miley is watched by children around the world. Real music doesn't appeal to children, and more kids watch vids on youtube I guess. I know my kids love to, Miley, high school musical.. errrk :S
But this guy is such a talented songwriter. Love him!
l think to properly understand this song you have to have been in prison once before, thats when you really know what you want, and its when you cant have it
nah, i think to u just need to have been away or lost something dear to you, but for sure it has been written for those incacerated. Probably brings a few tears to the eyes similar to our vet's when they hear "a walk in the light green" by Redgum

Hello Joe, it's Dan here. Sorry I missed your call. Hope your Christmas was good. Ours was. I spent it laughing at your fatherless kids and banging Rita. Oh, and we made gravy from a packet and it was better than the shit you used to serve up too.
thermoz3, why deny the great man a good nights pay but dont forget he also play at arts centres for average workin class like me. i seen him last year @ fremantle arts centre and it was 1 of the best concerts i have been too
I first saw Mr. Kelly on a live Mountain Stage show. I'd not heard of him before, and was amused as he clearly was an artist who was accustomed to crowd recognition. Came out like a star to an audiance who didn't know him at all!
But in no time it became obvious how good he is, and the crowd came around. I bought a CD of his that night. defiantly one of my favorites! Thanks Paul!
been listening to PK since I was 12 (now 37) and never tire of the fantastic skill of his storytelling and beautiful melodies. You guys are right - so many of his songs bring a lump to the throat - they are the songs of our lives.
not many things affect me much... but every time i listen to this song it makes me cry... its so beautiful... great work pauly ur the number 1 artist in my book
he finnished with this at falls festival 07 tasmania, i was front row. i cried, i also met kev carmody at the same festival, he was a champ, both ledgends
So you came all the way here just to comment on a song you don't like by an artist you don't much care for? Mate, you are the very definition of "loser".
I had to induce vomiting the first time I heard this song. I was angry at my body for doing it on it's own. Fucking shit!!! Buy the shit in a fucking packet if necessary!!!!!

Funny that I come back to this song on the 21st of December. Definitely, Paul's finest piece of work in fantastic back catalogue.
Not many people can convey such a strong message about what binds a family. It's the gravy that keeps them together so to speak.
