I believe universalism is an attempt by man to create God in man's image instead of the other way round. Its like making a cut out from the truths presented in the Bible and only using the bits we like. I cant think for one moment that this is the correct way to approach Scripture. I also wouldnt want to take the responsibility on my head of telling people there is no hell when the Scriptures clearly indicate there is one.

@TheSaviouroftheworld I forget which saint from early church history made it his prayer that he would not know the good works that the Lord had foreordained him to do...he hoped that the fruit of them would happen outside of his knowledge....in order to not tempt his flesh into carnal pride or seeking after signs. A kind of "blessed are those who believe yet have not seen", if you will.

Why didn't you address the issue of age of life vs. age of punishment?

If we used the same hermenuetic that you used in Corinthians to say 'all in Adam and all in Christ', then you would have to consider the punishment and the life to be for the same age or 'time frame'. Thus, eternity. So, eternal punishment eh?

Also, the sheep and goats go different directions, thus how will this play with your universalist beliefs?
