  • brenda is married now with two daughters

  • Mason Granger looks like Fox News Eric Shawn

  • Brenda Wood was the Memphis Queen back then. Where is she now. I know she married Mason Granger...

  • @arkansoul You're thinking of Kim Hindrew, who replaced Brenda (and later came back to replace Mearl Purvis) and did indeed marry Mason Granger. Brenda left Memphis for Atlanta where she worked first for WAGA and then (and now) for WXIA.

  • @NewsRetiree That's right!!! I couldn't think of her name for anything. Kim Hindrew, another good-looking woman. I'm sure glad you corrected me. I would have gone crazy trying to think of Kim Hindrew. I sensed Brenda Wood marrying Mason Granger didn't feel right...

  • Brenda wood made action news 5 the best watched news in memphis because she was too hot & sexy for the news back in the day until when 1988 came when memphis said good bye because her dr. of a husband said, it time to move on to atlanta ga. where he went she followed that's about it.

  • I love watching clips from 1980. I was two years old. wow. the fashion. amazing.

  • Damn Dave Brown old. Lol

  • Brenda is still fierce.

  • Brenda wood was and still is the bomb

  • Nice graphics for 1980. Dave Brown and Joe Birch are still there, Dave since 1977 and Joe since 1978

  • To further answer your question, NO.

  • Willie Herrington?! NO! If only I could go back in time...

Anyways, the set looks so vibrant. It really "pops." What's up with that chroma key ceiling?

  • I love the Chroma Key back drop for the set, I miss Chroma Key sets, they were so lively!!!

  • Brenda has aged well, and still looks great 28 years later. She does appear to have had 'cosmetic assistance'. :)

Her voice has become more "seasoned", and doesn't sound as youthful. To be expected after 30 years on the air.

  • It's JANICE Broach

  • BTW, what is the exact date of this newscast?

  • Brenda Wood is now the news anchor for Atlanta's NBC affiliate WXIA-TV at 5, 6, and 11 PM.

  • You mean 6,7, 10 & 11 there hasn't been at 5pm since it was canceled in 02 or 03

  • Mason married the lovely Kim Hindrew.

  • did mason really get married to her?? you gotta be kidding me..

  • Mason married to a Sista. Once you go Black, You can't go back.

  • I am serious. If those two did get married, that would be a lovely pair..

  • Good theme music.

  • i think mason is working for a station in new orleans now..

  • i wonder if the children ever got to go to school? did they?

  • Brenda Wood is in Atlanta now and trust me when I tell you she is still as beautiful now as she was back then.

  • but she has dyed her hair now..

  • @SIGMAMAN69, Wood is a dish. She hasn't changed in appearance much, though she's a bit too skinny now.

The glasses on the white guy are awful. The horn-rims of 15 years previous were much better than that mess. Jeez, what were glasses designers thinking?

  • @itpduder she must a vampire to stay so young iwas boy then this was boardcast and now i man old ass man

with health problems iwas born in 57, she was born in 55, wha the helli ben doing wrong in life?

and get tready to watch a fine ass beattiuly still going strong, and i might add "fuckable too" after 3 fine ass darughter , look just like her clones man

  • If I recall correctly Brenda and Mason had a hot relationship off camera. Mason is very lucky.

  • Look at the south memphis mayor.

  • What a flashback... Was raised in Clarksdale, MS. from 73-85; Grew up watching channel 5 News. Watched Wake Up Call every morning before school... I met Mason Granger in my hometown in the mid 70's when I was a "youngster". Thanks for sharing these clips from WMC. Takes me back to some happy times!

  • Brenda Wood looks just as good now as she did then, if not better!

  • This was the best set for any news channel in Memphis at the time hands down!

  • Brenda Wood is at WXIA in Atlanta now.

  • This was before they had the steamboat in the news opens in the late 80's.

And at the start of the open the "5" logo?

that was on NBC'S '79-80 "Proud As A Peacock" graphics.

  • "Dream Team" indeed. Mason Granger is the "Dean of Memphis anchors".

  • I believe this newscast has to be from 1980. The Iranian hostage crisis was still going on.

  • You're right. In addition, Granger had just replaced Dick Hawley as the prime newscaster for the station that year, and Wood was entering her second year there.
