  • oh n btw i believe that there is a such thing as good hair, and the people who disagree are usually the ones without it - just sayin lol

  • WHO GIVES A FUCK ABOUT HAIR AT THE END OF THE DAY WE ALL GONNA DIE SO WE MINES AS WELL LIVE BEING OUR SELVES SO WE DONT DIE IN VAIN

  • great message, except for using the term "high yellow" it's kinda racist.

  • One time my buddy and me were blazed out of our mind , driving around town, and we were stopped at this stop light and there were some black girls in front of us and they were both playing with there hair, and i looked over at my boy and said, YOU GOT HAIR? Im bald by the way

  • One time my buddy and me were blazed out of our mind , driving around town, and we were stopped at this stop light and there were some black girls in front of us and they were both playing with there hair, and i looked over at my boy and said, YOU GOT HAIR?

  • Child B's hair was nappy. I was like omg, are you serious. It did piss me off. I didn't say anything b/c I was guest and plus everytime I bring up their is no "Good hair". other blacks think I'm crazy. Btw- child A was biracial.

  • When you mentioned that even little kids take notice in that whole good hair vs bad hair thing, brought back a flashback. A few months ago, I was at a friend's house. I was me, Friend A, friend B, clild A and child B. Child A was friend A's neice and child B was friend B's neice. Friend B was combing in child A's hair, and was gushing over it. She going on and on about how manageable it was, how good and pretty it was...right in front of child B ( her neice). She also say that child B hair..

  • yep i agree with you, love this video :)

  • phenominal video. thank you

  • *Claps hands* I also want to thank-you for raising your boys to "Look at the heart". We need that!

  • I <3 ur shirt!!!

  • oooh you're a smart lady

  • oooh you're a smart lady

  • good hair is healthy hair..... as long as your hair is healthy, then it is good.... that's my opinion.

  • do you necessarily have to do a "BIG CHOP" when you want to go natural?

  • @1browneyedcutie15

usually people do the 'big chop' to avoid further hair splitage and sometimes to even hurry up the 'natural' hair process. It's not a must.

  • just saw the movie i really liked it a lot.... (becuz its very informal)

  • So truu!

    Thanks for sharing this.

  • Chis Rock concentrated on women who wear weaves or wigs. Did not focus on the difference in natural textures. As far as chemo patients... yes I wanted hair... but I wanted MY HAIR!! That is why chemo paitents have problems emotionally wearing wigs. I know I did. Love this vid! My personal rant is now already done! LOL!

  • yes this is so true! I thought it was all in my head that black ppl in those commercials are biracial..light skinned! dats crazy!

  • I think we're reading more into our reaction to hair than is necessary. Yes, we have a long and unfortunate history. But as a people (i.e., women), we like to be fashionable. For the first time, women are wearing everything from dreads to afros to natural to relaxed. I look at it as fashion. When I saw an Asian girl teaching about how to straighten hair (!!!) I figured we're working with fashion gone nutty. I know chemo patients who'd like any hair.

  • Saying "hair grades" still perpetuates those "good hair" ideas. If you think about it people use this "good grade of hair, better grade of hair etc etc". Thanks for the video. Very positive and informative!

  • I am dominican, cherokee, and bajan which makes me BLACK ...LOL

I agree there's no such thing as good/bad hair. WE must all learn how to take care of that which the Creator granted us. Good video. I just LOVE YOUR HAIR!!

  • Why do people call it a :hair journey". All you have to do is keep your natural hair from the beginning not that hard >.>

  • I just saw the movie, I had to go near d.c to see it (i live in richmond va). I don't care about chris rock opinion I am just glad he did a movie about hair. The ignorance is display by the people in the documentary. It's really sad about what black people do to their selves and what we think about ourselves. Most people are trying to be european everyday for hair, but why don't we be more like them in careers, health, education, etc... You know something that not going to kill damage us.

  • cHRIS Rock Is ignorant and he is pushing the ignorance even further AS ALWAYS. I hate him for that. It is what it is though....

but booooo to Chris Rock for deepening the whole psychological poison! what a tragedy!

Even if his daughter said all that, rather than him educating her, he went on to further deepen the poison. PITIFUL!!!!

  • lmfaooooo, come on. rock just put the thought out there. you can't call him ignorant and listen to solja boy at the same time, fuck outta here

  • so true, i am black and Dominican myself and i don't really have GOOD hair but it's not kinky or anything. but i dont fall for the light skined thing in hollywood because the preetiest women in hollywood to me are the preiest.

  • I have natural curly hair and I do agree with you that for people in between like me (I am Dominican), others make a fuss about it. I do not use any chemical to straighten my hair I just use the iron and it gets all silky and smooth and the people that have seen my curly style ask me non stop about how my hair is so curly and straight at the same time! and most of the time I do not get why. I do not believe in the "good/bad hair" thing, I think all hair is just hair.

  • Preach girl! U R Gorgeous! Keep it real...love u

  • love you to girl=)

    thanks for watching!

  • Excellent explanation. 5 stars!!

  • LOLOL....babes...nobody is created the same...its ok to have great hair...but that shouldn't be limiting ur way of thinkin...its all about ur genes luv...nothin else. To me thick hair, long hair, clean hair anyting can be label as great hair...its wa u view as great hair...my fam. mixed like everyone else's family...no one person is straight black or wa eva...we all came from the same seeds..just different branch offs...Hair is just an accessory not a life boo. Dont study ppl n dem crap..

  • You seem like you're being a good mother :)

  • Good job gurl keep it up. peace

  • Nice intake mah, good vid..

  • thanks sweetie.

  • Hi,

I've just happened upon your videos and have watched quite a few--I really admire the messages you're sending. Much Much needed.

There was an article on Thursday (8/27) in the New York Times regarding this very issue that you might enjoy. It's titled "Black Hair, Still Tangled In Politcs". I'm sure you can find it using a Google search.

  • hi thanks so much, for watching my videos, i will definitely look it up=)

  • how can u say white women have the best have

    have u SEEN ERYKAH BADU??!

    WOW!

    x

  • White women have the best hair, plain and simple. Thinking otherwise is simply a lie to yourself.

  • ur crazy

  • IGNORANT!!! Ummm ... that's your opinion. Race doesn't exist. Caucasians, like many other people around the world, vary in hair texture. Plus, Caucasians are not the only ones with straight hair. East Asians, Southeast Asians, Picific Islanders, South Asians, Native Americans, Austrialian Aborinals and even PURE East African Cushitics and Nilotes have straight hair. The only people without straight hair are some East Africans and primarily West Africans.

  • And dispite what you think kinky hair is beautiful. Your post is laughable.

  • good girl!! I totally agree with U !! I have natural hair and every where I go, I'm the ONLY black girl with Natural hair! :(.. Im refuse to perm it!

  • To be honest, some hair is better to look, at tough, easier to take care of and such so in that sense one can say it's "good", but necessarily better, I think not.

As a man from Africa, I'll surprise you and tell you it's an issue here too, but it more of a womens' thing. I agree it's an image issue, what I know for sure is that no man I know like artificial anything; hair, nails, lips, hips, breasts...

  • *Sorry about the long coment, just wanted to give my personal view/experience on this*

  • not a problem sweetie, i read all my comment thanks for watching and commenting, you made a lot of good points=)

  • But this all doesn't mean I'm also discriminating, I've encountered a boy with kinky hair with the coolest hairstyle I've ever seen! I'd def date em even though my parents wouldn't like that probably cause yes they are also ignorant. I'm happy that I'm trying to get more info from all these issues that play 2 day in the blackcommunity, so I know and can raise my feauture children the right way and so they know about everything!

  • I am tired of lightskinned thinking that we are always hating on them. Most dark girls could care less. I see light girls hating and talking shit about dark girls. But whatever. Just don't get in my face talking that shit. I will knock a bitch out.

  • But I wouldn't dare to take the risk to date a boy anywhere near my neighbourhood/ from my district cause almost all of em have this sick mind! I ownder if they think 'they'll have children with you, creeps the shit out of me!

  • Personally I've encountered so many dark skinned girls in a group or with eachother who would always make negative comments about me. This upsets me cause I'm so sick of itt, it got me thinking that I shouldnt deal with "em" but at the same time I'm triyng to stay positive cause NOT EVERYBODY's that way.

  • someone may have..

I've been accused of using skin whiteners or doing smng with my hair to get curl patterns, people pulling my hair to see if it's real. Girls or boys telling eachother they would never date someone with kinky hair and if they did they'd be ashamed of it. And also downhere they will be "hatin"on you.

  • I noticed that when black women have long kniky hair that's when people ooh and ah over it. A lot of folks do that with Rusticbeauty. Myself included. Good hair is not always about the texture people talk about the length as well. But I am happy that you are making video addressing this topic. God Bless you.

  • You're right! You shouldn't let your kids grow up with a complex, with all the shit that people say especially in the black community, even downhere in HOLLLAND, THE NETHERLANDS this shit is happening with kids/teenagers from countries as Suriname and the carribean.

I've been bullied and maken fun off in racist ways in highschool by black people! ICAN'T believe this! Being discriminated by your own people?! And the fact that they would (openly) show their disgust towards any black features

  • This is a good video. You hit it on the nail. Especially with the lightskin/darkskin thing.

  • THANK YOU! The way you get your point across is so amazing and I truly appreciated this video. I just wish more people had your views. Thank you again. This made my day.

  • oh now i see what u mean by good hair is health hair so right!!!lol ignore my last comment

  • lol ok girl, i got you =)

  • ppl are leaving comments saying good hair is healthy hair?! makes no sense when ppl say good hair we all now what they mean ...curly, strait, shiny, bouncy. as too say natural hair is not healthy??? we need to grow up as a nation and embrace everyone!

  • and what hurts is when people think that when people think that only light skin people can be bi racial or mixed. bi racial people come in all colors from the whitest to the darkest. i may be light skin anf bi racial but my sister is darker than me and is bi racial and people think shes full black when her other half is latino.i just dont like stereotypical people.

  • i think the obama girls get "presses" not relaxers

  • no one knows for sure, either way it doesn't matter what the obama's do to their hair, it's their choice =)

  • The good hair vs bad hair problem in the Black community will never end as long we continue our addiction to TELEVISION! Black people possess more TVs per household than any other group. The television is where most of us develop our self image and where our image gets distorted. The countless hours we spend watching TV should be used discovering the joy of reading..

  • I forgot to add that STACMUNIE is obviously a very frustrated, ignorant, confused and uneducated mixed race male, who wouldn't know a BLACK woman if she slapped him in the face. Ignorance is bliss!!

  • Your words ring so true..no matter wether your light skin or dark skin..black is beautiful and Afro hair is beautiful as long as you take good care of it..like any other type of hair....so let us embrace it !! remember Europeans have given us the ignorant mentality from slavery not to love who we are!! I'm a lighter tone woman, but not attracted to light skinned men..will always love darker black men!!

  • I like this commentary! I'd like to quote India Arie when she sang: "I am not my hair." I chose to wear my hair naturally. A lot of women say to me, oh your hair is so pretty, i would love to wear my hair like that, but at the end of the day they never do: maybe it is out of fear of what people might say. And that's a problem, a style of hair is an adornment and no one should feel afraid to wear their hair a certain way. Good hair is healthy hair and that's it.

  • ITS ALWAYS THE DARKER PEOPLE WITH WOOL TEXTURED HAIR HATING NOT THE MUTIRACE PEOPLE WHY DO EVERY BLAK GIRL WANNA A MIX DUDE

I REMEMBER IN HIGH SCHOOL EVERY BLAK GIRL WANTED ME TO MARRY THEM BUT I DONT FUCK WIT THE WOOL TYPE BRAWDS

BUT WHEN I TOLD THEM NO THE TALKED ALL KINDA SHIT MAN 4REAL THEN THEY SAY how U dont go with blak girl den u dont like ur momma my mom is 95 percent native

    WTF??

  • speak 4 youself im biracial(white black) very light skinnd but i have the nappyest(and proud) thickest fullest fro and im lovin it. go ahead and make fun but i like being black, dont know if i can say the same for you your slave mantality is sick my brotha

where are you from with your no manners having self im only 18 and i have more sense then your dumb tail so i dont know many women that would want to date you, light dark or otherwise...damn, get of youtube and go read a book

  • Go ahead. I love my naturalness. I am black. Black mom and dad.

  • BLACK PEOPLE DAT DESEND FROM W.AFRICA

IN USA TODAAY HATE ON LITE SKIN BOYS AND GIRLS IT IS A SUCH THING AS GOOD HAIR

Easy TO manage AND MUCH better grade hair

THUS MAKING IT BETTER BUT ITS NO BIG DEAL THOU IM MULTI RACE NO WEST AFRICAN BUT MORE UP TOP AND NATIVE

  • OK before coming on my page to stir up some bullshit, please learn how to spell and properly formulate a complete sentence.

I approved your 1st ignorant comment, but then you came back with some more bullshit, we all get your point you don't like dark skin or kinky hair...

well let me be the first to tell you

    NO ONE is losing sleep,

over your no picture/no video having ass. =D

  • You sound like an illiterate. Good hair is healthy hair. But besides that, you sound soooo ignorant.

  • What are you... a retard? loool

  • Man if I didn't feel so powererful and enlightened from you speaking about healthy well groomed hair vs damaged shredding hair I don't know what I fell. I mean I felt pretty okay before and sometimes not as good but now after tuning in to your well spoken kind words of healing I feel so beautiful. Inspiration to the highest power. Thank you very much!!

  • Thank you, for the comment. I wish our community would heed the words of reason. We can only blame white people so much.

  • Thank you, for the comment. Powerful words that I wish our community would heed.

  • I agree with everything but the "High Yellow" comment. That is a negative way to refer to someone with a lighter hue. There are simply darker and lighter hues.

  • well that's what we say where i'm from, so it is what is, high yellow, redbone what ever you want to call it, it's is up to you=)

but i can see where it may be offensive so if anyone is offended i apologize but that's how i talk.

  • i like how you put things

  • excellent! well said.

  • i know wat ur talkin about girls used to be on me about my hair i am ur skin color..and have wat is called "good hair" i think healthy hair is good hair period its just stupid wat ppl do...i like ur hair=)

  • i love this video. im beginning to understand that my hair is beautiful as long as it is healtyhy. it does not be to be relaxed and rod-striaght to be "beautiful". its really sad to know that little girls (like Chris Rock's daughter) are questioning the beauty of their hair. i going of relaxer because frankly i believe it damages my hair. id rather have it thick and kinky than thin and shedding. Kudos for teaching ur kids a good lesson.

  • I love your Video!!!! I need to begin to understand that my hair is beautiful no matter what others tell me or what the media says good hair is. im making a decision to stop using relaxers. i only wish i was given the chance before i had my hair permed.

  • good hair is healthy hair. no matter the texture or the length

  • Your are on point and I dont often see documentation on black hair. nice Words for the day.

  • the "spanish wave" hahaa lol great vid darling!!! (^__^)

  • good vid, Im trying for healthy hair as well.

  • I agree. There's too much emphasis put on hair and complexion and it's all ignorance. I'm light skinned, have green eyes, and my hair is natural and HEALTHY and I've actually been told that I'm too light to "take it back to the mother land". If that's how my hair grows, then I can't help that. And I love everything about myself the way it naturally is. I hate the attention put on my complexion, eyes, and hair, and not me as a person, but I've come to realize I'm not the one with the problem....

  • you make sum good points in all the videos i watched of yours i agree that we as black people especially need to stop criticizing and hating on one another. itss almost unbelievable how much self-destruction that goes on with us.

  • i hear dis ligt/drkskin debate more on utube than real life in london ive heard it a couple times, some boys asked ma frends (we're medbrown) why drkskn h8 on liteskn nd i was like we dont ,ma cousin is very light (cream) nd shes not mixed (many ppl ask her if shes nigerian) n i remeba wen i was yung all ma frends sayin is she mixd?shes so pretty? n dat mde me feel lw confidence @ times, nw i dnt care my fam we're dif shadessome ppl hve evn askd my gdma(drkskn) if SHES EVN THE MUM OF HER KIDS!

  • I know a lot of darker skin black women that have quote on quote "good hair". To me as long as your hair is HEALTHY and you take care of it....i love my hair and yes i get it relaxed. It is not because I am ashamed of my kinky hair..My hair is straight at the roots and curly/nappy at the ends. I love it though..People need to just love what GOD gave them because GOD didnt make any mistakes. Hair is hair as long as you have some

  • i know i have her skin color and i have wat ppl call "good hair" (like halle berry hair)...healthy hair is beautiful...good hair is healthy hair

  • U reminded me being in elementary school and being the 1 w/ the "good hair" I hate that whole stereotype it really angers me! I was tortured having the kids circle around me & measure my hair to other girls at recess everyday and everyone wanting to play in it I would get in trouble for letting them do it. It sucks that it still happens today. I wish it would stop. That made me wear my hair in a bun for years (it grew a lot like that) but I wanted to hide it. ALL HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL! Love ur vid!

  • I agree with you. OMG you just reminded me of elementary and middle school. They used to wanna play in my hair at recess and I hated people playing in my hair lol. They used to borrow other people's combs and comb through my hair and I HATED using other people's combs, but I didn't wanna seem mean or whatever by telling them not to mess w/ my hair. I remember getting in trouble for letting people play in my hair. I wore my hair in a bun (french roll) too all through high school and college.

  • i'm biracial and i have 4 sisters and we all have different textures of hair. 2 of them have really kinky hair and 2 of them have fine "white ppl" hair.

  • girl iam mixed and iam not lite skin

  • what's sulfate free shampoo?

  • it's a shampoo that doesnt contain sodium laurel (or laureth) sulfate. That particular compound is a detergent that strips the oil out of your hair, leaving the hair dry and brittle. It's usually listed as the 2nd to 5th ingredient in the shampoo, meaning that the product is loaded with it.

The product may say "sulfate free", but there are more detergent compounds similar to that compound that we need to avoid:

    disodium laueth sulfosuccinate

    sodium laurel glucosideoxyactate

    laurel glucoside

  • You took all the words out of my mouth..........thanks for making this video!

  • Screw what the media says! GOOD hair is HEALTHY hair in my opinion! Preach on, girl!!! God bless

  • preach sistah! amen!

  • people always think dark skinned women are haters without even talking or knowing them

  • @SYROMIELROSE i thought it was the other way around ..............in school i was always teased and hated on for being dark. Mixed or lightskin was considered a good thing

  • YES, YES, YEEEESSSS!!! PREACH!!! I just got on my friend about this!! all hair is good hair-finally someone who knows what they're talking about! THANK YOU for this!

  • people would tell me when i was young you to black to have hair like that, or say look at the jet black boy with the curly hair, it seems most people didnt even notice me they only noticed my hair, i remember one girl said with her skin tone and my hair we will have some very pretty babies. those things gave me a complex about my hair, i grew up hating my hair but lovin my dark black skin. i know what my dark bros feel like inside and its something that says with you for a very long time

  • I luv dis video !!!! Like U said its such Bullshit !! Good Hair Bad Hair it shouldnt matter its all Human hair .. Take care ! See ya ..

  • this exactly wat some girls in my age group need to hear, im 18 n im mixed(black guyanese, mexican, n cherikee indian)....n i feel g00d hair iz healthy too...n datz y im transitioning...but my sis has alwayz had long curly hair and her hairis alwayz the topic of the day but i feel dat opportunity was stolen away from me bcuz of my mom decision to perm my hair at age 10...but im happy im goin thru this change now n i hope ppl stop being ignorant n do their research...love N peace

  • "Good hair is.. healthy hair" Well said girl.

  • great vlog! i agree i need to see this movie!

  • I love your BLOG!

  • thank you so much i am so glad you like the blog!!

  • Your right but i think some black people are stupid (no ofense!) cause they say that their own race hair is bad cause its nappy or watever its basicly the closer your hair is to fine "white" hair the better the ones that think that are so dumb love your race, skin and hair all because its not fine does not mean its bad also my little sister is adopted and shes black and a lot of people say "shes pretty for a black girl" i get so mad the world has come a long way but we still have a long way to go

  • I really love your vids you are so right because my hair is very curly and I love it but one person who has real good hair is rudy from the Cosby show I dont know her real name to lazy to look it up, but her hair is healthy and I love her kinky thick long hair.

  • Im mixed, half nigerian and white and my hair is wavy, but my sis has more kinkier hair and always wanted my texture. Yet I wanted her thickness cause my hair is long and natutrally thin. You can never win ha ha! iF Only the world, especiaally America, had more people like you, oh my gosh, heaven! Love your vids!

  • hey i'm nigerian too! lol that's was up!!

thanks for watching and supporting my videos.

  • I contend that it is important for us (all people) to change how we think about and understand hair textures and hair types. It's important for us to not create these superficial boundaries or divides between the perceived hair texture that we expect different groups, "races" of people to have. Nothing is set in stone, rules, perceptions and stereotypes almost never apply to everyone. There's always someone who doesn't fit into the box, goes against the grain, doesn't fit the rule or stereotype.

  • Even within these particular 2 reigons in Africa, West, East, you'll see variations of curl pattern, hair texture, etc. Moreover, White people, Europeans, Caucasians, etc don't have a "monopoly" on fine hair or straight hair. There are pleny of other people in the world that have fine or straight hair too. Actually, one could argue that overall, some Asian groups have straighter or there are more people with "bone straight" hair relative to Whites, Europeans, etc.

  • I like this vid. But, I would also add that, there is not one/singular "negroid" hair type. Within the "black" race, "negroid" group, there are varying types from extremely, relentlessly kinky, hard and ruff, to straight, fine, and everything in between. It's a common misconception that have one hair type or texture. "Black" hair types vary just as much as "Black" skin complexions. For example, if you study the phenotypes of West Africans and East Africans, you'll see a striking difference.

  • yes your right about the negriod thing,

i made a video called hair types and i talk about all the differnt hair textures and types that blacks have.

  • I agree with many of the points that you make but if I may mention the Obama daughters: they have natural hair. They press it to get the "straight" look. No chemicals there!

  • yeah i have heard that the obamas are natural, but many people still think the obamas relax their hair... the point is regardless if they do or not it's their hair, and it's not everyone's bussiness what they do to their hair. they are still great role models for black women and young girls, i don't live with them....so i don't know if their hair is natural or relaxed, but what they choose to do is their hair is their bussiness.

  • Spot on. I was lucky growing up that my mom always used to tell me and my brother that we have good hair, i.e. healthy. And we are black and have naturally afro hair - Mom refused to relax my hair so I grew up learning from her how to style and embrace my natural texture. So we never had a complex. I think, like you're doing with your sons, we can all help the next generation by helping them to see afro styles not as less or more pretty, just different pretty :)

  • Your are fabulous and eloquent! Keep doing what you do!! :)

  • thank you.

    just subscribed

  • I love your videos- i'm black and i remember most black girls loved my hair coz it was thick and straight - but when it came to other races they would perhaps prefer mixed race peoples hair as i would too - i have alot of mixed race cousins - and i used to want their hair i wished i was mixed race -my mums side are light skin all with the long fro's and 'wavy good hair' and i would wish that i had more of that in me but its not about good hair its being comfortable with who you are as a person

  • am mixed race n quite white in completion but my hair is something between curly and alot of friz..I have never permed my hair because I am proud of my kink/friz hair that changes with the weather, bt it's what god made me... african (origin) women are so beautifull, strong and blessed...straight long hair is nothing to campare that to.

  • LOVE your video!! I am latina and my hair is kinky BEAUTIFULLY NAPPY! and my sisters hair is stringy more of a european texture and when we were growing up all i heard was YOUR HAIR IS BAD! your sister has BETTER HAIR! Growning up was a nightmare filled with perms and trips to the *dominican beauty shop* every weekend so they can make my hair "good". It got to the point my hair was THIN and breaking off!

I am now natural and embrace my hair texture I LOVE IT! AND I DO HAVE GOOD HAIR NOW!!

  • I compeltely understand everything that you are saying! You sound JUST like me.

I think that his hair issue is just another way for us to be divided. It's complete bullshit, as you say lol

I hate when people say that I ave good hair, or that they like my hair better when it is straghit. I take that as an insult because Im like, "Whatabout my friends , my mom? These same people think that super kinky har is ugly. SHhoot, like you, I think good hair is hair that is easy to deal with and is healthy

  • Good hair is healthy hair and yes I have seen white people who need a big chop - I mean I have seen this a lot were they have that bleached hair and its thin and falling out - So you mean to tell me their hair is better then mine - No - I wouldnt have that hair for nothing - So honey yes your correct - some white people have bad hair

  • LOL.. white folx say that their hair is tangled, i tell them all the time, its not tangled, its NAPPY!! They get so upset but ts true. There are multiple nappy headed white folx. Truth Hurts!!

  • Thanks for saying that length does not equal good hair. Yes, I've got relaxed hair and I plan on growing to waistlength, but I refuse to have poorly maintained hair! And in the end, it doesn't matter a lick what we look like on the outside but the inside.

  • Love this video

  • thanks so much for watching

    yassy :)

  • THANK YOU! for the michelle obama and no weave thing! THANNKKK YOUUU!!! nvr even thought of it in that perspective. and this may sound weird but thanks for cussing you seem real down to earth lol

  • lol thanks so much rockstar, lol i try not to cuss but f*it, i'm a real person, i feel like there is no need to put up a front especially for youtube lol

    anyways thanks for subbing sweetie!!

    ttyl

  • Good points

  • thanks so much!!

  • I heard that Ms.Obama was a natural?

  • yeah i have heard both, some say she is natural others say she relaxes her hair...either way's it her hair and it's banging personally i can't tell what she does, because it's always straight a

blowout only lasts so long... so who knows lol

  • I agree with everything you said. It's so sad that people are still obsessed with good hair bad hair. Nothing makes me cringe more than a black person declaring they have "good hair".

  • Great vid, it just amazes me in this day that we still have these issues. I have 2 daughters with different hair textures and one is always getting the compliment about having "good hair" it's crazy! LOVE that Chris Rock had this movie can't wait to see it, Thanks again

  • Being from the south, I have always been surrounded by this type of ignorance, and, for the most part, still am..and I have always thought it was complete BS....feels sssooooo good to hear someone else say it so passionately...love your videos,

  • My nephew has healthy cornrows and my sister (his mom) keeps saying he must have got his hair from his dad not from me. Recently I convinced her to cowash her hair cause she hates to deal with her hair. Now she realizes her hair is fine, healthy, and soft. My sister as a teenager would always want to date guys with what she thought "good hair " was, cause soo many beauticians made her feel bad about her hair. People need to stop with that good hair vs. bad hair stuff; and strive for healthy hair.

  • This is a very good topic to discuss. I remember as a child the ladies in the salon telling my mom to put a jheri curl in my sister and my hair because our hair was too soft (not strong enough-and thin).

  • Ur absolutely right about the light skinned and looser curl pattern thing. The media is like that and probably will be for more years to come.

  • 10:28 ! yeah girl

  • Are you saying that beyonce and alicia keys are bad inside??

    jw..

  • i think you misunderstood what i was trying to say, i am a big beyonce and a keys fan lol...

i said that they are gorgeous and there are meny people on earth asgorgeous

as them, but just because you look good doesn't necessarily mean that you have a good heart or a good personality

i used b and alicia as an example beacuse the media and meny blacks consider very beautiful women

but no i do not think either are bad.

  • I know what you were saying....

I was just wondering if you thought that alicia and beyonce....

    :)

I was just wondering...I mean, I would of still respected ur opinion and stuff, but I was just wondering.

  • lol ok i see what you mean, well i think they are both good ladies alicia does a lot for africa and charities so i love her for that. beyonce kind of keeps to her self and her family and that's cool too. now to be honest i do believe that if they didn't have those particular features like the lighter skin & hair i don't know if they would have been as big in the mainstream media,

i mean look at kelly, no one pays her

any mind and she is just as talented. sorry not a michelle fan lol

  • i love you're videos, you are real inspirational to me :)

  • amazing video! your so inspirational!

  • thanks a lot

  • tell it , tell it.. some people with the so called good hair have kinky sh#t, or they just put it in a ponytail, and it be shedding... my old spanish/black male friend wore this ponytail all the time, and one day his rubber band broke.. My gooodness he had the sourest head of hair ever, yukk, i told him bye. Everything that look good aint good, so now i know i have good hair..lol w/o being multi racial, even though i have mix races down the line from big momma in nem.. lol

  • Ti, great job. Thank you so much for nipping that s#&t in the bud at an early age, cause it is ridiculous!

My hair is kinky, kinky and I love it!--It wasn't always this way, but I remember my father sitting me down and giving me the "talk" about that crap and telling me I'm beautiful. Love it! Glad you are back!

  • You know what's funny? I am the youngest of 5 children (4 girls, 1 boy) and we all have different textured hair. It was my DAD that was the one that told me "good hair is hair that is healthy. as long as you take care of it, nothing else matters." My mom told me my hair was beautiful, but she was always quick to say "you need a relaxer"...i love them both, but it just goes to show you how classically conditioned Black Women are when it comes to our hair. be blessed :)

  • Yes, hear coworker speak of good hair/bad hair..... soooo sad and depressing. Adults thinking this way. Glad I realized it sooner than they did.

  • IMHO, as long as you got hair it's all good.

  • lol @ 4:20

  • omfg thankyou for making this video i am tired of ppl talking about good hair. its true healthy hair is good hair.

  • Thanks for making this video. It is amazing how we, as African-Americans, are still discussing this issue. I really enjoy your channel; keep making great videos such as these.

  • hair is hair. period. one of my earliest memories was mom making me go to get it pressed....which was done in my family until you reach the age to make the choice to prem or press. Heaven forbid you just want your hair to be your hair. I caused a ruckus by refusing to to get a perm when the stylist refused to press. my head, my choice. currently, i'm still natural...my daughters arent. my son is, and my mom is upset that when she did go natural...turns out her hair is naturally strait.

  • it might just me i always felt i had nice hair and my hair is not what they say curly hair.

  • jeco5 girl if you did, that is a blessing and be grateful that you never had to have those insecure feelings.

a lot of us went through this and it's taking a long time for some of us to get over it lol, so that is great that you always felt good about your hair :)

  • i really feel you on this video

  • thanks girl!!

  • Good Hair is hair thats healthy - I have good hair I am 4a Black American and it took me years to get it and now I finally have it " Good Hair "

  • yep me to! good and healthy that is all that counts :)

  • wow. i totally feel you on it being the topic of conversation! i also remember the " thats cute"lolol

  • girl yes! this is one is my favoirte

"ummm you must got indian in yo family cus you got dat goood hair! "

lol there is a man i work with who runs around saying this all the time, he say other guys are jealous of him because he has good hair lmao i'm like wth, your 40 and still running around talking about good hair it's sad and he's

brownskin so you can tell him shit!

    lol

  • ROFL!!! no way!! ok thats sad.lol

i heard this comedian say soemthing like that. black people who run around saying " oh i got indian in my family blah blah blah" he says that he tells them do you know what "indian" means to black people? "in di end you still a nigga"

ROFL get it? it sounds like "indian" idk its better to hear it than to read it.

  • roltlmao girl i got that one, now that was funny! it's true some people say it like their going to get some type of pass lol now matter how slick your hair is, American society still considers you black lol.

  • yup. thats exactly what the joke is saying. aha

i cant stand how people feel like they need to name every continent on the planet when people ask " waht are you mixed with" when they KNOW they are bsing.lol all that just to try and gain"acceptance"
