Bernstein was a genius composer and a great man- and Kiri here is just wonderful.
I admire her and I love this song Somewhere and this is a radiant performance.

Generally I am not a great fan of Kiri's musical theater efforts, including this WSS recording, but she always did well with ballads like this.

It's intentionally written low. It's not supposed to be pretty, but struggling. Notice what the words are: "there's a place for us..." You're supposed to sound stretched.
