I don't know if you saw my recent comment on the wildernessoutfitters channel or not, but this was what I was asking for Dave to do - thank you. As far as long-term survival, gotta imagine the toughest part would be finding or creating the KNO3 (as long as sulfur was near-by).
Great job Mike! How did you process the final product (grind it up for lack of a better word) and what grade do you figure you ended up with (FFFg..FFFFg etc)
Great video, great information -and really neat demonstration! Thanks.
Q1 - Did the book say why Willow is The preferred wood; i.e. does it contain a high amount of some element so in charcoal form, it reacts better (or in a different way than other woods) when mixed for gunpowder?
Q2 - Re the last ingredient ;-), presumably it's the uric acid that's wanted, but do you know what letting it go stale does for the process?
Very useful info, thank you. I use that exact grinder everyday, actually I have a couple of them for different grinds...they just don't want to wear out. Just a thought though...when I need to put my grinds into a small container...I dump it on a paper plate first, smack the side a couple of times like you did and then roll the sides of the plate, using it as a funnel into the container...no spills & works like a charm.
wear did u git the sulfer and potassium nitrate

Thanks Mike. Was that a clay bowlyou mixed it in? I think there is an important reason you don't use a metal bowl or pestle.
