@MrNikochannel Ignorant question perhaps, but why use water cooling on an aviation motor? Most will be used that way right? Isnt even 1:4 a little small for this machine its must be rather powerful? Any calculatons of Torque and Wattage? Germans make great Model Engineers, I keep being impressed all the time of what keeps coming out of there! /Regads Axel (Sweden)
Air cooling is a pretty terrible way of cooling when you think about it for a moment... cylinders get cooled unevenly, more at the front and less in the back, leading curved and out-of-round cylinders, increasing wear. Also the cooling is uneven between cylinders, with a possibility of overcooling the first pair and overheating the last. Finally, air cooling effectiveness depends much on the flight parameters, while liquid cooling us much more stable.
@KarriKoivusalo Very true, the very reason motorcycles stopped using them! But at flight speed i'm unsure if any of this matters, air can be let in via the sides of the cowl too?!
Difficult, you'd have to arrange ducts for each cylinder, and an outlet with major vacuum; cowl sides do not enjoy the dynamic pressure benefits a nose intake would. On the other hand, using nose intake and vents in the cowling would dump most of the cooling air at the first vents, leaving very little to the rest of the cylinders! Even 6-cylinder aero motors have real cooling issues on full-size aircraft.
unglaublich das ihr aus dem kleinen Motor so einen tiefen Klang holt, super gemacht. Kann es garnicht erwarten ihn tatsächlich mal in einem Model zu sehen.
First! :) and hey boxermotorrad i love all of your videos, you always know exactly what i want to see and don't bother polluting it with you tubes music. thanks for all you have done by sharing your experiences with us, and please keep the videos coming!
Its a very nice engine.

why not just find one big chainsaw carb and use that? it would be way easier to tune
30GB 6 months ago
@30GB It is for a plane if you have only one carb and it fails your plane comes down, on multiple carbs if one fail you are still on air.

@MrNikochannel @30GB because the way to the cylinders. are in the compare length

@boxermotorrad So it is nothing to do with safety? I was thinking safety issues if one carburator fails.

@Axbent I am not an expert this field so I do not know why they use water coolant. Regards from Finland
